nothing except the willingness to take on bad contracts and give future picks. Some teams won't be willing to pay the extra tax.
The total and years of the contracts we take back along with the luxury tax hit is pretty substancial. Couple that with the knocks on Rondo (coming off acl, his personality and the fact he isn't a do everything elite PG ) he isn't going to command as huge a bounty back as lets say a Chris Paul would. Boston knows its going to be pretty bad with or without Rondo the next couple years and his moody personality has worn thin on management. Imagine what a peach he'd be on a losing team? Lol.
We are one of the very few teams that can give thw Celts what they really want and that's bigtime cap flexibility in 15-16 while sacrificing our own cap flexibility that year and probably a big luxury tax hit too.
The guy is only worth it for a team that would need him as a final peice to contend for a championship. And then the said team would need to take back two bad contracts that will limit their cap flexibility for 3 years. Again when you put all the criteria together, we are probably the best match by far.

I'll pass.
Geesh, I would give up anyone on this roster for Rondo or any combination. Yes that include star mooby.

The argument was based on 2015 expirings.

You hit the nail right on the head. Boston hate us so why would they deal with us. You saw what they did in Brooklyn. They propably could have gotten better deals else where but they wanted to make sure that the Knicks wasn't going any where so they gave 3 good pieces to Brooklyn.

As for your question, yes but that's 2 years from now and Melo and Tyson aren't super old but arguably have alot of mileage and aren't getting younger. Melo has even spoke about about the window of his prime not being open forever (or something to that effect).
We'll see how this season shakes out, regarding Melo. If the Knicks have a low seed and get bounced early, I can easily see Melo superfriend elsewhere. If it's a productive season with at least a ECF appearance, there might be some hope for him staying and retooling around him.
As for Rondo, same thing. Got to wait and see how the Brad Stevens/Rondo marriage works out in Boston. If it's shakey from the get go, Rondo probably make some stirs, and Ainge will have to put out feelers. If they have a great relationship, he puts up numbers, but the talent and picks don't pan out, maybe he'll want to team up with Melo in NY.
We'll see!
Buck if my 'intel' is correct, Rondo wants out and Ainge is more than willing to oblige his request provided that he gets the 2015-16 cap relief. We are one of the few teams that could do it.Rondo is likely going to get traded before the season starts and coming off an ACL it's not going to take a ridiculous amount of pieces to get him.
We'll see soon enough, September is right around the corner!
Lol well September is officially here! I beleive the date Wallace can be traded is the 13th or later. My guess is we'll probably begin to hear rumors about this next week.

Oh yea. Well where do we go from there. Ray Allen is one of the nicest guy you'd want to play with. Yet he took less money to play for the Heat and get away from Rhondo. What Rhondo is gonna bring us a championship without Melo? Dream on

I've held out hope that we'd have a punches chance in acquiring Rondo but I still don't see this happening. Even with his warts, Rondo is a top 3 PG IMHO and had showed signs of an improved jump shot before getting injured. Whatever we do, is definitely going to include Shumpert and us taking back multiple, long-term (bad) contracts for him. One has to wonder if that would even be worth it considering that we could sign him 2 years from now via free agency.
Before this offseason unfolded, I had hoped we would've flipped Shumpert for Eric Bledsoe, used whatever picks we had left (that was unfortunately used in the Bargnani deal), Amare Stoudemire and figured out a way to acquire both Royce White and Thomas Robinson on the cheap to use in a package for Rondo. That obviously isn't going to happen anymore so it should be interesting to see how go about pursuing him.
