Exactly other than Lebron durant and George its the position with the least talent. But ask mike Woodson what he thinks lets have Melo guard Tim Duncan Zachary and west

Well to woody credit his plan was to go big before Stat went down and those guys put up bad numbers versus Melo including TOs. Also George probably moves back to 2 and is a inconsistent shooter.

i think putting melo at the 4 was a brilliant move by woody since he SUCKS perimeter defense against wings. instead of chasing them around, he lazily switches and then gets outmatched on the perimeter. id rather him stay down low at the 4 and HIDE his lack of perimeter defense/effort

what do you all think?

If Melo can't get in top shape to play the 3 then we should trade him because he sure as hell can't play the 4 defend and rebound

when has Melo EVER had a problem playing the 3 which, is his natural position. He has had his best years playing the 3 and his weight was never an issue at the time. In fact, he's smaller now than when he used to play the 3.

what are you talking about, posters have made it clear that Melo is pushing at least 245 lbs and is probably around 260 lbs.

yup, just like they made it clear before last season that Felton was a fat slob. Bunch of haters, fake New Yorkers with their overly pessimistic attitudes. That's not New York. I'm a native New Yorker, born and bred and this soft, emotional new breed of Man is an embarrassment (imo)

+1 That's about as spot on as you can get, Blint.
I never understood when incessant whining about your own team became the hallmark of being a good "fan". Must have been a cultural backlash against facepainters.

I wonder what most of these tough, gritty, realist fan posters would sound like in a room with Spike.

Since my first time viewing message boards to now which has been about say 12yrs. There has always been a villain that people go out of there way to **** on. Some more extreme then others. From Sprewell, to Marbury, now Melo. Eli Manning use to get destroyed on the Giants boards. Mayweather is the biggest villain in the boxing community.

gunsnewing @ 8/29/2013 5:28 PM
One thing is for sure Melo makes one hell of a villain!!
newyorknewyork @ 8/29/2013 5:47 PM
He has nothing on Mayweather.

Melo can score on anyone...i just dont like the idea of melo chasing wings...he sucks with perimeter def

this is just a kind way of saying he's a tweener. too slow to guard perimeter players and too small to guard post players.

meanwhile not really effective as a post player and kind of <meh> as a perimeter shooter in isolation situations, the ones he habitually prefers.

while you can't fix the defensive stuff, running him off double screens from right to left has been efficient for him. by extension, if he can shoot from behind screens there is no reason why he can't be forced into being an adequate if not proficient pick and roll passer. as far as a pick and roll finisher that should be left alone since he usually gets his lunch money stolen down there.

prioritizing these elements-- double screens and making him make a pass to a roller/finisher instead of jacking-- will pull him away from zero-sum status especially come the second round of the playoffs.
