Swap Pierce and say KG, and thats a done deal.Pierce really looked done last season....."done" imo doesnt override an idiot.
I'd rather keep JR.
wow i think that's crazy,
pp for jr straight up would be getting away with murder for us
Pierce would retire on spot, or sabotage anything good for the Knicks, and that besides him being done.come on man, really you think that??
pp is a lot of things but if he were traded to knicks, guy would ball for us!
and he's far from washed up!!
he dropped 18/6 with 5 dimmies and a steal a game last season!!
how many 25 year old players would kill for that stat line??
I know JR thinks he can do drugs and get that stat line.

rondo went down after the 38th game. pierce was asked to do too much during those extra minutes he ended up playing since they lacked an adequate orchestrator. his legs just weren't there by the end. i think kidd will try to limit his minutes to no more than 28 per game so he is fresher.
i would take pierce yesterday if it meant unloading smith.

I really dont care what he averaged, he was so bad Felton was able to draw that assignm at times.
Besides, he really hates the Knicks, he would quit before wearing the jersey.

Pierce is a mercenary... and all NBA players are.
If he will be on the Knicks he will trash talk Nets.
Nobody give a sht about any club untill they get paid by it.
Get real. Players are not fans who are paying for the game. They are playing for living not because tehy like something.

The comparison is Pierce and JR though. If you're talking about last post-season, that hardly works in JR's favor.

i said he was asked to do too much during those extra minutes. in other words he had to expend more energy during the minutes he was on the floor than he would otherwise be required to in his normal role with rondo out on the floor with him.
put carmelo anthony in the same position and the celtics end up a lottery team.
yellowboy90 wrote:What was the minutes avg before and after Rondo went down. Also,0 what was Pierce excuse two seasons ago? Maybe old age has hit Pierce.
a quick glance at his minutes before and after rondo went down show that pierce actually didn't play more minutes but averaged about the same... so i was wrong about the minutes.
however, it is the amount of extra effort and extra energy expended as the de facto orchestrator during the same amount of minutes that ultimately took its toll.
So, people are suggesting that a lesser role on a better team may help Pierce. Interesting.
yellowboy90 wrote:So last year Peirce played less minutes than he has ever in his career and was monitored by Doc, a coach who knows how to rest his players, so he wouldn't over do it.So, people are suggesting that a lesser role on a better team may help Pierce. Interesting.
Come on, he's been at around the same number of mpg for the last 4 years. You're right that he averaged about 30 fewer seconds per game last year than the previous year, but it's not like you would expect that to make a noticeable difference. And he definitely didn't play "less minutes than he ever has" anyway. He played 500 more minutes than the prior year.
He probably needs a role of closer to 25 mpg to save him for the post-season but I assume they'll play him more than that.

Heck, swap the beloved Harden for Melo on last years team- do we honestly do any better? Do we really get further in the playoffs?

I dont know about getting further, but I dont think we regress.
Now mind you I dont think Harden is as good as Melo, but his game imo would be able to produce that same win total.
The both have a scorers mentality Melo is better at that imo....Harden also make plays for others willingly so it evens out to a degree.
And seeing harden makes 13 mil compared to 20 for melo and impending raises, they might not be that far apart.
And this is coming from a poster that really dont care for harden at all.
