Houston was (while active) loathed because of his contract and INABILITY to perform after the surgery. Amare is no different. An albatross contract hung around a player who can't perform anymore. Does anyone really think he will get better instead of worse? I expect even less from Mr. Glass this season.

I had hoped we'd get at least 2-3 good years out of him but we got less than 1. He broke down in game of of he post season and has missed more time than he has played

I'd say could, not would. They looked pretty bad together. I wouldn't expect two guys who take a lot of shots and don't move the ball well to compliment each other effectively.

I think the Knicks are handling Amare's situation the right way. Amare just can't take the wear and tear and he isn't a guy that is going to go half speed once he gets out there. Water work, sitting out of back to backs, and limited minutes might get him through the season. I think he might consider retiring if he has another major set back.

I love Stat but I have my doubts he will play here again. His knees are shot. I don't think any amount of rehab, PT, voodoo, etc can undo the damage at this point. He is the new H20 unfortunately. A lot of promise under a huge contract and that will never pan out.
No peseason games or back to back, 20 mins at best per night, yeah thats what they would like. When he's dominating and shooting60+% and showing no ill effects from the knees, he will force your hand..
1) Felton is the coach?
2) We shouldn't be expecting more than what he said regardless.
3) If he is healthy, it would be silly to not give him a light number of minutes just so he can be acclimated. If even this becomes a chore, the guy should just retire.

I'm so tired of this line being used to defend Amar'e. He followed the money! He wasn't doing the Knicks any favors! He wanted M-O-N-E-Y. Say it with me, MONEY! Amare couldn't give a shit about the Knicks before he signed that contract, he saw the 100 mil, his eyes lit up, so he put on that blue and orange cap and rolled with the team dumb enough to sign him. "The Knicks are back" more like "My knees are whack". How do people buy such BS? Amare constantly throws old coaches and mentors under the bus, repeatedly stating that he "never learned defense". Such an asinine claim is beyond belief, and frankly makes everyone that was ever responsible for his basketball development look awful. Yet people think he's a high character guy cause he reads his kids book in times square...TOO FUNNY. Amare is the best at 2 things 1) Hurting himself 2) Focusing on literally everything under the sun besides the Knicks yet still capturing the blind loyalty of misguided fans

You don't know that this plan for Amar'e won't work. You don't have any inside info about the condition of his knees and how much he has left. Clearly he's got serious issues with his knees but we don't know how limiting him will work. The good thing is that we have so much talent on the roster that he really isn't under any pressure to push it. He can basically hang back until the playoffs. I'm hoping it works for him this time.
Let's face it tho, Amar'e is screwed in terms of his knees after he stops playing. He's likely already headed straight to arthritis. In this case most of this is up to just how much pain he can endure playing on the knees over the next 2 years. If he had a really bad bone on bone right now I doubt that they would just let him continue playing on the knees since it's a debilitating condition and they know from H2O that it's pretty much over once you get to that point. We just don't know, but what we do know is that it's a pretty desperate situation with the knee when you have a debridement done. There have been reports that it does work for some people tho, giving them a bit more life on the knee, so here's hoping he's the lucky one.

How can you know that??? Wasn't Amare singed on day 1 of the free agency in hopes of luring Lebron. If so, we have no idea of any of the others that year or the next would have come. Your making an assumption without taking this into account.

Sush a waste. If he was healthy we'd be ok. Right now that 20 mill cap slot could be used to upgrade the team significantly. Maybe that's the plan this year? Trade starts contact for real help? Maybe a team gives up on their star to save money or something. Marc Gasol? Maybe Pau or even Kobe. Rondo? Actually anybody starter level would do. We just need a quality player that is ready to contribute to the team every night. For 20 mill we could get like 3 quality players lol.
Anyway you admire his work ethic and Amare is not a bad guy at all. Just really frustrating that he's taking up space in our roster and can't contribute like one of the guys. We'll see what happens

Were you saying this during the first half of 2010 season when Stat was lighting up the league for us? Even the seeing and thoughtfully guided thought it was a good signing then. Especially in the wake of the "decision".
Just imagine, if Stat had gone elsewhere, we could have been stuck with signing Joe Johnson for the max.
