hey man, IMHO we are all hoping for the best season ever from the knicks, but some of us would like to hold our players accountable as fans, since the coach obviously doesn't. i mean if felton has a string of say 4-5 bad games at the beginning of the season... do you bench him? these are the hard questions Woodson needs to ask himself.
this whole "best shape of my life" statement is something we have all heard too many times. why is the accountability only directed at select players like shumpert and not at chandler?
Im not talking about witholding criticism when the team or individual players are playing poorly, Im talking about posters who only focus on the negatives. Ive criticized this team, the roster, and mgmt plenty of times, but I also give credit where credit is due. Doesn't have to be an either or proposition.

You're treating it like an either or when almost no one here is on the constant/sole criticism side you're so disturbed by.

You're posting to tell us about how you hope others will post in a hypothetical situation?
Regardless, maybe one person here never says anything positive about the team but that's all I can think of.
Absolutely Im hoping people won't piss on this team incessantly when they're playing well and its more than one person. You make it sound like the Knicks playing well is far fetched.
That depends on what playing well means.
What's your standard?
The team should be either competing for a championship or rebuilding (towards a team that can compete for a championship). I don't see us doing either. In fact, I haven't seen the team do either even once this century.
Not this century. They competed for a championship a few times in the 90s. We haven't come close since 99. Only chance is after 2015 if we retool properly this time

Just takes a few regular posters

So say this team goes on a ten game win streak, the team as a whole is playing well, you cant find anything good to say because of the way the roster is constructed?

There was plenty good things said by the people you are referring to when the Knicks got of to an 18-5 start and we actually playing like a team. Dec. 17th it all came crashing down as we reverted back to our old ways of ISO and terrible defense. By the way Dec 17th was the 2nd time Lin embarrassed Felton. Felton had been playing well but he never recovered from that. That was the stretch where he felt pressure to jack up shots. Like the 19 shots he jacked in th loss to the Nyets.

I beg to differ. I guess we will have to see how things shake out this season. We'll see which posters are conveniently absent during this season when things are going well.

I can say (and already have said) good things about individual players. It's gonna take more than an 10 game regular season winning streak to make me think the team is well constructed. Even Isiah's teams had some 6+ game winning streaks.
We won 6 straight early on in the Larry brown era. Finished with a 28 win season

Wasn't singling you out Bonn, and Im not asking you to change your prognosis for the season. What gets posters upset when the Knicks are playing like contenders, is the constant cries of "we're doomed!" I don't expect posters to start singing "aint no stopping us now" either. Let the season play out and try to enjoy the ride. When they play like caca point it out, when they're doing the opposite, do likewise. Not you specifically.
Well I will definitely point out individual players playing well. If it gets to a point where I think the team is a contender, or if they start over and have a plan that looks like it could lead to a contender, then I'll praise the construction of the team.
Be prepared to reboot the "We don't win the right way" discussions.

win or lose, outside of the first 7-8 games and then sporadically from then on, we did not PLAY the right way. that leads to the statement that "it isn't THAT you win but HOW you win." that's not hating that's making an accurate assessment. the playoffs bore that out in spades!
jrodmc wrote:Be prepared to reboot the "We don't win the right way" discussions. We hate because we care.
I am prepared for many reminders about how much better our 1st or 2nd round series loss is than the Isiah years.
Yea if anything the people concerned about how we won and lost some of those regular season games were proven to be right after what happened in the playoffs. The lack of composure, see JR and all the technicals from Tyson Felton Melo and Amare. The lack of ball movement, defense, rebounding, rotations etc
Oh and how Chicago and Indiana abused us in the regular season with their size and how they were able to get in Melos head. In order to beat Miami who we match up well because their bigs are as soft as ours you have to first get through Indy, Chicago and/or Brooklyn

And don't forget the ever present we are now doomed to be a second round and out team instead of rebuilding for the lottery.
Also remember to use these helpful points:
1) Boston actually beat us in the first round,
2) injuries are no excuse for us, but are for any other team [see #1]
3) Indy swept us in six games last year.

if they play a winning brand of ball i will sing their praises and express excitement. they don't and i will point out their faults. i am not ever going to get excited about winning or dismayed about losing so long as the team looks like they are playing a playoff-ready type of ball and not fool's gold nonsense. that's fair isn't it?
