From Bill WAlton to Sam Bowie Greg Oden and now CJ McCollum breaks the same foot for the 2nd time in 9 months
CrushAlot @ 10/6/2013 10:58 AM
Wow. Didn't realize he had broken it before.

I hate injuries. I quite like that Portland team, I think they can still make the playoffs without him (good job they signed Mo Williams), but this is bad news for them and him.

Wow.. That stings. Those guys really are snakebit over there...Makes you think about Jeremy Tyler. Hopefully he heals 100%. Not sure if it was the exact same type of injury as McCollum or what (same spot, same bone) but I hope that both players recover and that there are no lasting effects. Immediately thought of Derek Jeter's nagging injury too -- I know that his was an ankle but still, same general area. I guess the foot/ankle is a tricky thing that really needs time to heal. That area of the body take a real pounding day in & day out when you think about it. Like the 2 knees, both feet support your entire body weight, sometimes all weight on only one side. No need to rush Tyler back for anything. He could help us now but I would think he's primarily thought of as a future piece. If he needs longer than the expected 8-10 weeks, give it to him. Maybe we give Tyler 3 months minimum just to be sure. Another thing with JT -- if we decide to keep him, rehab him, etc., hopefully if/when he becomes a true player and when the time comes for an early Bird rights contract extension etc., he won't forget the loyalty we showed by not cutting him and returns the favor.

I read that they planned to play him a lot at shooting guard with Lillard at the point. The plus side for the Blazers is that they have decent depth at guard and it shouldn't be that huge of a loss.

Maybe the perceived franchise curse was one of the motivating factors to make LaMarcus Aldridge want out of town.

If they make the playoffs, he'll probably stick around. It's amazing to think that Draft Express (I think) said he'd likely turn out to be Channing Frye Mark 2!

Doubt an 8th seed first round exit would do much in convincing him to stay.

The hits just keep on coming for the Blazers, hopefully Batum is OK. Widely viewed as the third best player on the team.

Batum falls hard in practice, being evaluated

Portland Trail Blazers forward Nicolas Batum went down in practice on Tuesday morning.

Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts says Batum went up for a dunk attempt and Will Barton tried to contest it, clashing with Batum, sending him crashing into the stanchion behind the basket.

Stotts described it as a “hard fall.”

On a unrelated note, Batum has been dealing with a sore lower back.

Batum is being evaluated. Soon as information arises on his condition, we'll be certain to relay the news.
