“(Carmelo) has a great game vision. He’s not selfish at all. He really sees the plays, how the plays evolve, and he’s always looking for the open man. For sure, it’s a daily process, we never played together, and every day the feeling grows.”

- Andrea Bargnani

“He can shoot. He can flat out shoot the basketball. Me and — I don’t even know what to call him — I’ll call him, ‘B’. Me and ‘B’ had a great week, just playing together, spacing it out on the court, me trying to learn from him, him trying to learn from me, trying to see what spots he likes. He’s actually a smart player, he can play off people. The way we play, we space the court, so a lot of time all the attention is on me, he can just space out.”

- Carmelo Anthony

Imagine how hilarious it will be if the chemistry between Mr Anthony and Mr Bargnani continues to develop through training camp and exhibition games. lets pay careful attention to their body language.

And what if Mr. No, I'm Not Running Yet Amare suddenly finds his old grooves in this new combination?
How many possible offensive sets can Coach Woodrow of Unimaginative Land suddenly, possibly imagine?

Adaptation

The most important element in winning Knicks basketball is not draft position, salary cap space, the perfection of Mike Woodson's goatee, the price of courtside tickets, whether the owners preferences irritate your senses or the reviews of Jeremy Lin's new movie.

The most important element in winning Knicks basketball is that our six returning core players fully embrace the nuanced skill sets and psonalities of the nine new players that will compose the roster. The quicker the alumni Knicks embrace a slightly new and revised personality, the quicker the freshmen will be able to make their unique contributions.

Are guys talking and listening to each other? Will they form the bonds that get them through the valleys of blowout losses, media sensationlaism and west coast road trips?

Carmelo and Bargnani setting an early complimentary tone is HUGE.

Nothing else matters.

'B' and I, Carmelo. 'B' and I.

Carmelo

"If you double me... yes, opponents must seriously consider doubling me.... while my RBB ...Running Buddy Bargnani for those not paying attention... is finding seams in the outnumbered defense .. I will find him, with a smile on my face, with compete trust that he can take the shot... And drain it"

jrodmc @ 10/7/2013 11:05 AM
Actually, it's "A"(nthony) and "B", Panos, "A" and "B". Alphabetical order.

Plus 'B' and I doesn't even rhyme...

Fluid and Smooth

As Bargnani spoke to reporters, Anthony walked behind him, singing, “Welcome back," to the tune of “Welcome Back Kotter." It was an indication of how the two have meshed on and off the court.

Anthony has spoken to Bargnani about using less of his trademark pump-fake and firing up his open looks.

“For me, it was about trying to get Bargnani going early in the game, help him figure out his game,” Anthony said. “When we’re playing on the same side of the floor, you’re going to be wide open. I was talking to him about it [Thursday].

“A lot of times he won’t need [the fake]. He’ll be so wide open. He’s learning. He might want to put the pump-fake in the pocket for a little [while].’’
Bargnani seems to appreciate Anthony’s efforts to communicate.

“We’ve been talking about a lot of different things, not just the pump- fake," Bargnani said. “We’re trying to find the right chemistry. It’s pretty good. [Wednesday] was just the first game. We worked a lot in practice finding each other. It’s a process. It’s not going to take long. But it’s going to take a little time to make the game fluid and smooth."

Once our leading men set the example and share the basketball, the rest will follow.

It will be a beautiful thing.

Also....

Bargnani took Melo to one of his favorite restaurants in Toronto where he spent his first six seasons and likely got to know the better places to eat Italian. "Melo and I went out and we talked a lot about expectations and really hit it off." Melo quickly intterupted: " we ate at this great little place that was quiet and got the church giggles when we talked about playing defense and mocking Woody when we miss our assignments!!!". "Bargs is a great guy and we both want to win championships!!". Jr smith was near by and upset he was not at the dinner and said: "Damn bytches, mofo's getting cozy over there while Young Money here Tweeting fingers be on the DL and you guys talking "Championships"!!! Tyson quickly came over and broke the tension with a quip that maybe JR can show him how to freebase Thera-Flu which drew laughter from all!

Yeah, Melo definitely sending a subliminal message there.

No, the MOST IMPORTANT aspect is to make sure Isaac is tending the bar :)

Poor Amar'e having to watch this must be heartbroken- that should have been him with Melo- not Bargs!

but it could never have been amar'e,

amar'e's game just does not complement melo's,

bargs's game does: he'll clean the floor after melo will splatter the blood of the foes on the hardwoods,

i do have some type of intuitive sense that this is a match made in heaven,

i can't put a finger on it,

but they're like the unlikely odd couple that will find great relationship together,

this could be really, really really good.

Based on third-hand reports, it appears Carmelo and Amare may actually LIKE one another on and off the court. Carmelo understands that he has someone who can create space and who is willing to take the shot because he has something to prove.

Andrea respects Carmelo as lead dog, and is thankful that FINALLY the outsized expectations of being a number one selection no longer apply.

Both have irritating traits, so they make ideal outlaws... dudes who operate within their own set of rules. They shot the sheriff but they did not shoot the deputy.

It's too perfect.

they have some key things in common,

and at the same time, they are not in stepping on each other's toes,
