Knicks · Is Melo worth 20+ mil per? (page 9)

I would trade melo for Blake. Melo is better but we won't be hamstrung by Blake's contract and have some flexibility. Dolan needs his big ticket or big kahuna as IWG so elegantly put it. Doesn't matter if the player is worth all the money H20, mcdyess, Marbury Amare. The important thing is that we overpay one to justify ticket prices. Especially with a renovated arena

One thought on a trade that works.....

Melo/Tyson for B. Griffin/D. Jordan/ R. Bullock and J. Dudley.

Clips get to pair Melo/Tyson with CP3.

Knicks avoid the Mega-Melo contract and sway 2 older stars for 1 younger star and some solid role players. Still leaves us with a very deep / competitive roster.
This also leaves us with decent young pieces that could be packaged for future picks or other assets.

D. Jordan
B. Griffin
R. Artest
JR
Felton

Prig/Beno
Shump/THJR
Bullock/Dudley
BARGS/STAT
KMART/Tyler

Brick Griffin is horrible no way in hell would I trade melo for him just because he is younger. Without an elite point guard holding his hand griffin would never be able to carry a franchise.

b griff is exactly like amar'e!!!

he'll dunk it for you, he'll put up numbers, but he is an island out there, he needs to be fed the dishes and opportunities, he'll never go out and bang as the big kahuna for you

But his face is more annoying- he has one of the most annoying faces in the nba! Griffin never really became the player people thought he would. Doesn't seem to have improved really since his great rookie year. I know he was injured in the playoffs so maybe he just hasn't had the chance to shine. I will say Amar'e was an absolute BEAST in the playoffs- before he had micro fracture surgery, I remember him going up against Tim Duncan and going on an absolute tear.

after like his 3rd full year in the NBA you come to this conclusion?

Yep, I'm not the most patient of people and he hasn't shown any signs of changing anything about his game. Plus he had a poor attitude last year and feuded with CP3.

Let's see what Doc does with him.

Another point to my idea of trading Melo for package centered around Blake Griffin.

When considering ANY Melo trade you can basically elimate 95% of the NBA.

In my mind there are only 3 places Melo would be willing to be traded to while still remaining happy & willing to sign long term.

Heat - to join Lebron but the Heat have nothing I want
Lakers - to join Kobe and leverage LA market but the Lakers have nothing I want
Clippers - they really are the only viable trade partner in my mind because they have Paul, they have LA and they have a young star and other young assets

I see no way that there's a trade made with Melo in the mix. This guy is ours for the long haul. We need to see how the players we have develop this year and next and then see what can be done to add better talent 2 years from now, but my guess is that Melo is retained at that point.

^yea i really can't imagine dolan moving melo

once dolan likes a guy, that's it; melo is retiring a knick (or playing here until he is so old that it doesn't matter if he moves or not)

live it, love it, hate it--- deal with it, mofos

Too many factors. Dolan is in full Arena Heaven. No team is gonna give us anything of value for him. Melo can make ungodly amounts of money here in NY and can you imagine a situation where he passes that up? It's pretty much a LOCK he's here for the rest of his career.

IronWillGiroud @ 10/21/2013 11:41 PM
the IWG Coefficient proves he is worth the max contract,
