Knicks · How Long do you think Woodson has (page 2)

or maybe they can be 1.5s together,

no #1 just two #1.5s

VMart - Please name the head coach who would win a championship with the current roster

If you cannot, your point is an exercise in chasing your tail

you just said the knicks are not going to win a title this year

dk7th - nice try

The New York Knicks will play them one game at a time.

I don't think Woody wants chris smith by his comment.

Woody did an excellent job last year but we all know thats not always a good thing!

Ask Georgie Karl and Lionel HOllins!

DOlan usually gives his coaches one year of severance to keep them quiet so his contract status is not a telling sign. Of course, MDA last season was on an ending year, and Larry had three more left so who in the hell can tell anymore! MDA got paid the rest of his year, and Larry hit the lottery of with his deal! got paid 18mil for one season. Only Anucha did better!

I think Woodson really has to lose his team by february to get canned, and then expect Herb to finish the season.

Dolan will save the starphuch coach change for Melo to decide whom he wants.

I think the PHil Jax train already left the station. IM only surprised Prokhorov did not give him Latvia to coach the Nets.

MSG3 @ 10/25/2013 10:29 AM
I think if they have anything less than 50 wins and are eliminated in the first round Woody is out. The problem is that I don't think someone like Phil Jackson would work for Dolan. He's a players owner and won't let coach do the work. Woody isn't a bad coach but he's also a company man.
knicks1248 @ 10/25/2013 10:30 AM
So it looks like no one believes in this roster, were just another 2nd flame out.

I actually won't make any judgments on how far this roster can go, the season is long, and health usually dictates who's good enough to truly win it all..That is until you get to the playoffs where coaching is everything

I think the roster is good enough for a deep run. But we need to get every drop of talent out of guys like Bargnani, Felton, Shump and especially JR. If JR can stretch the March and April he had into the majority of an entire season and post season we'll be fine. Tyson needs a big year also. Out of everyone on the roster my confidence is lowest in him. I know that sounds strange, but that's my opinion.

Vmart wrote:I would can Woodson right now, but it would be useless to do so as no one can really bring home a championship with this roster as is. The Knicks need a scoring second option or first option that his a very high FG%. To go with Melo and a decent PG that is a creator and a defensive stopper.

VMart - in essence, what you wrote is that Mike Woodson does not have the talent to win, but fire him anyway.

Sheesh.

Yes I would fire him but then again no one will win a championship with this roster, so getting someone new will do nothing for getting a championship. With that said I have always maintained Woody is a good regular season coach. But I would fire him for his playoff coaching. Creativity is lacking and execution take a back seat to iso ball.

Woody sucks. He runs MDA's offense and these guys still suck on defense (something all the anti-MDA guys constantly said was a coaching problem).

Woody's big accomplishment was getting a career year out of JR, only to have it blow up in his face in the playoffs when he went right back to vintage JR and pretty much cost us a trip to the conference finals to play the Heat.

JVG would actually be great, because he will coach defense and with Shump/MWP/Chandler/Felton he would have some parts to work with. Cant picture a scenario where he comes here. He will want some control and only corporate drones need to apply for MSG jobs. Woody is a good company man. When we get bounced in the first round he will get whacked then

SupremeCommander @ 10/25/2013 11:13 AM
I think Woody is a pretty good coach. How many guys are definitely better than him?

But I don't think he sticks around. The guy who hired him got thrown out of MSG. The guy who hired Isiah will want to make his mark. Yikes

Pretty much agree with all of this

If won 54 games coaching the Knicks, people here would be asking for his image to be bronzed in front of MSG..A bronzed

not if they did not look like a genuine playoff team by the time the playoffs came around. woodson has been a liability in the second rounds of his playoff career and he managed to burn out kidd in his monomaniacal bid to get the highest seed possible and he gave prigioni big minutes too late in the season.. he should have followed the spurs and celtics examples and he paid the price.

Nonsense...

In one breath u say Paul George is better than Melo, the next breath Knicks were better then the Pacers..Whatever suits the argument/spin...

and the same folks who blame him for his poor record coaching Duhon and David Lee's Knicks would be crying about how his ignoring defense cost us.

Now we have a coach Melo loves, has taken JR under his wing, has a terrible playoff record, runs MDAs offense (plus as may ISOs as Melo wants) and the Knicks still suck on defense. Hmmm.... maybe just maybe its the players.

Woody is gone after this year's first round exit

Ah yes, I forgot MDA invented the pick and roll..18-24 to 18-6 with the same exact roster..Results doesn't matter anymore??
We complain when a coach gets the most out if his players..I must be living in an alternate Universe..

It will be offense until we start losing, the it will be Woodson's offense..

holfresh @ 10/25/2013 12:38 PM
Woodson is in NY running MDA's offense and MDA can't run his own offense in LA..

So will the other teams. What's your point. I like the rah rah mentality but you allow it to cloud you views to a fault. Your a good loyal fan I personally believe Dolan can use you on the payroll. Who the hell needs the city dancers when we got Misterearl waving the Pom poms.

I ask you why should the Knicks keep Woodson?

Woodson is Avg at best, and i say this because he's great at nothing..yeah he got melo and JR to buy in but most of the VETS (kidd sheed tyson, KT) had a hand in that.

Melo still plays defense when he wants to, JR still doesn't get it, Amare is still a suspect defender, Tyson is still Tyson no improvement in any area since he signed on, and our overall defense is still the middle of the pack.

When Don nelson got fired from the knicks even though he was 3 or 4 games over .500, the roster wasn't a true contender, but they should have been better then there record..Some how I think woody is heading in the same path..
