Iman should be starting at 2 and Pablo should be playing backup minutes at pg. Everyone likes his professionalism but he offers little on O. He swings the ball well but cant get off his own shot unless wide open and cant drive to create. He is a gambler on D which results in defelctions and steals but he gets backdoor by overplays and also can get bullied. He's a good backup but being asked to fill a bigger role. Shump has the right size and D and a improved jumper to be an impactful 2. Udrith should be packaged in a trade if he is going to play limited minutes as 3rd pt. because Murray brings a different dimension to that role..
Bargani looked good tonight with his stroke but he is softer than Charmin. Going to be useful in certain matchups and useless in others. Artest can help but we needed that big sss power forward on the roster who can do a little of everything. Humphries has his limitations on both sides but a player with bulk would help a active but lithe Chandler battle frontcourt size on other teams
Melo's a stud but gotta be more selective, Hardaway was a good pick. JR will help but enuff with Pablo starting

Cluster fck.. and JR Beno.

Prigs occasionally gets a steal, but for the most part he can't keep up with anyone. Hinrich looked like Jordan on Prigs tonight. If you can't hold Hinrich as PG, then you are in for a very long season.

I can see where the Knicks might want to cut it down near the deadline and put chips together to get a very good back up PG who can also score with one big--for example Andre Miller Faried etc... now how would you get there--that would cost Shumpert but in 4 games we get back JR and that will cause more cross jam. No reason to fret now --w can go 10 deep and we will win many games no matter what. When the deadline comes--then w can make some decisions.
tj23@ 11/1/2013 12:08 PM
Prigs defense is fine. But the guy isn't a creator and passes up shots he sometimes needs to take. You can't always drive to pass, defenses will and have exposed that flaw in him. Both him and Kidd dud that last year and it hurt us. Problem with playing big is Bargs can't hit anything and clogs the paint.
fishmike@ 11/1/2013 12:17 PM
Prigs can run a half court offense. Felton cant. Thats why the genius coach played two PGs all year
MSG3@ 11/1/2013 12:26 PM
Prigs/Felton should start. It's been proven to work time and again. I love Shump but he needs to start showing some consistency on both ends. He didn't have a good game last night, although he did make some plays in the 4th.
Finestrg@ 11/1/2013 12:47 PM
I said it a few days ago on another thread -- I agree with the sentiment that we could use a more athletic/penetrating PG to go along with Felton (someone capable of running the show and maintaining Felton's quicker paced style in the event Felton was ever lost for a time) AND a big that can score the ball 15' and in. Also agree with the idea that we could possibly put together a package of players right around the deadline to address these needs (against dealing Shumpert in this scenario however -- so not sure what that leaves us to trade).
IN THE MEANTIME, as a capped out team with no draft help on the horizon, bargain bin players are the way to go imho... Nothing preventing us from trimming some dead weight off this roster and filling those spots with more capable players that address these needs. Off the tip top -- Chris Smith should be removed asap and probably Aldrich as well, esp. if Cole hasn't shown any improvement in the last week or so (and even at his best, Aldrich is a rebounder/defender, not a low post scorer 15' and in). Right now, unless anyone can come up with something better -- I'd cut those two and replace them with Jeremy Pargo and Marcus Cousin. Not sure if these guys are even available right now but this is where I'd start my search for upgrades for these 2 spots on the cheap...This would be a significant upgrade at both spots and give us a infusion of exactly what we need -- a tough, strong speedy skilled PG who possesses a game very reminiscent of Ray Felton (even more athletic with better hops -- prior NBA experience too btw) and a 7' C that can shoot the lights out from mid-range, score with his back to the basket 10' and in, finish with authority around the rim and also rebound and run the floor. Two very skilled players -- I don't think we could do any better right now on league minimum contracts...Why wait to the deadline? Nothing preventing us from making some cosmetic changes right now for the greater good, no? Why carry anyone on this roster that can't help us??
Jeremy Pargo
Marcus Cousin

Million dollar question
knicks1248@ 11/1/2013 3:38 PM
One of the visions i give woodson credit for is wanting Shump to be more of a facilitator, he needs to learn how run a team at times..just imagine if woodson had the option of playing
Shump THJ JR Melo AB
That can be an explosive offense line up, one that will pose mismatches all over the floor. The defense might be avg, but they would score more 90% of the time..

I think everyone has been waiting for that, but I just don't think that's in the cards. We've seen Shump play point for a while and it's never been a natural fit, event at Georgia Tech. I'd like to see more combos featuring Beno-Shump tho, since their strengths seem to complement their weaknesses.

Along with those line ups..I think he has to rest Melo, Chandler and Felton during the year..He can't run them out there 38/40+ all season...Also Shump should be good off the as a facilitator of the pick and roll with his jumper improving...Shump has to improve on his 8 to 15 foot game as well..He needs some video of Wade...Shump needs to pace himself, I thought he was excited to be back in Chicago last night and was over aggressive...

Im sure when and if Ab can get it together, and jr gets back melo's work load will decrease.
woodson has a nice hand(meaning players), and he better to know how ot play it..When you have to start juggle players in and out of the line up, playing one guy 10 minutes here, another guy 6 minutes or 20 minutes..It's going to take much longer to build chemistry. For all the fire power we have, we haven't come close to scoring a 100 points..
