It's tough though to know where Lin should play. He plays best when he dominates the ball, but can you really justify him dominating the ball when you have Dwight and Harden? I like him most when he's scoring, so that why I'd have him as sixth man- also seems to make scrubs better and seems to play better with scrubs, so it's probably where he's best suited. I think McHale is right bringing him off the bench.

Funny thing is we don't have one guard on our entire roster that can put up a game like he had last night. All we had to do was match the offer. After putting fans through Steve Francis, Marbury, Curry, Baker, Taylor, Penny, Isiah our fucking owner decided it was the prudent decision to let one guy go that fans actually appreciated and enjoyed watching.
The same guy that allowed Marv Alpert to walk over money, the some asshole that gave Larry Brown 30MM to go away, Isiah 20MM, paid a lawsuit for 11MM.
And we are searching for a guy that can get everyone invovled and make guys better. But, we can give a roster spot to someone that couldn't excel in the D League.

That 3pt FG percentage is now also over 50% after last night. And think about scoring like he is doing and shooting 54.5%. That is where Lin is vs. Melo is the 30's%. Everything needs to be considered through the possibility that Lin may become (if he is not already) an All-Star (or better). His assists are down as well, though last night he was trying to be too unselfish and committed TOs. Remember, he had 28pts before the 3rd quarter ended, then tried too hard to get other guys involved (who were shooting poorly). If Lin had played like the 1st three quarters, he would have ended up with over 40 points.

Except that in this case, we got no player nor draft pick for Lin. And he may be the best of them all up there. I know it's a big "if", but I think it's not unreasonable. Consider: if Lin gets over 30 tonight, shooting over 50% again, that would be 3 games in a row that he has done that (in a small number of games). How often has Melo done that being the primary option with the much larger pool of games to draw from? Never. He has never done that.

its not pining for others.. its being pissed about wasted resources. Lin was a dymanic and talented player we could really use who fills a position of need. MSG front office totally phucked up the sitation and we lost a good young player for nothing, something the Knicks cant afford. But there is nothing Lin can do Chris Smith cant right? The $2mm dev league player

By the way, Lin is not happy in Houston (though he doesn't say it of course). He has mentioned that he has talked to his agent previously when asked about coming off the bench.
This revisiting of what could have been done may have a positive side -- there may be ways to get him back if Dolan will swallow his pride.
