Knicks · OT: Jeremy Lin (page 10)

Yeah, the Rockets lost and, yup, Lin had too many turnovers. However, he played a pretty good game and I'd argue, though apparently McHale doesn't see it this way, that Lin's turnovers were not too bad (say three or more of them were team/coaching problem) and his missed shots were mostly last second take one for the team shots.

It's tough though to know where Lin should play. He plays best when he dominates the ball, but can you really justify him dominating the ball when you have Dwight and Harden? I like him most when he's scoring, so that why I'd have him as sixth man- also seems to make scrubs better and seems to play better with scrubs, so it's probably where he's best suited. I think McHale is right bringing him off the bench.

In the five games he's played with Harden in Houston, Lin is averaging 24.0 points on 47% shooting.
Here's an interesting article on Lin

Funny thing is we don't have one guard on our entire roster that can put up a game like he had last night. All we had to do was match the offer. After putting fans through Steve Francis, Marbury, Curry, Baker, Taylor, Penny, Isiah our fucking owner decided it was the prudent decision to let one guy go that fans actually appreciated and enjoyed watching.

The same guy that allowed Marv Alpert to walk over money, the some asshole that gave Larry Brown 30MM to go away, Isiah 20MM, paid a lawsuit for 11MM.

And we are searching for a guy that can get everyone invovled and make guys better. But, we can give a roster spot to someone that couldn't excel in the D League.

Embarrassing

IronWillGiroud @ 11/14/2013 9:39 AM
Jeremy Lin da truth, y'all

haters gonna hate but he would be by far our best guard, by many long shots!

Guys wanna talk about "it would've cost too much",

Yea RIGHT!!! It wouldn't have cost too much money, I'll tell you that, because Dolan throws millions around like they're peanuts.

I postulate that it would have COST TOO MUCH on Melo's ego!

But hey, wtf do I know.

SlimChin @ 11/14/2013 9:39 AM
This kid's only going to get better.

nehemiah @ 11/14/2013 10:21 AM
That 3pt FG percentage is now also over 50% after last night. And think about scoring like he is doing and shooting 54.5%. That is where Lin is vs. Melo is the 30's%. Everything needs to be considered through the possibility that Lin may become (if he is not already) an All-Star (or better). His assists are down as well, though last night he was trying to be too unselfish and committed TOs. Remember, he had 28pts before the 3rd quarter ended, then tried too hard to get other guys involved (who were shooting poorly). If Lin had played like the 1st three quarters, he would have ended up with over 40 points.

True or false:
Lin would be the best guard on our roster right now.
Lin would have resigned but Dolan and MSG totaly phucked it up

Yeah, come on Jrod. You can do better.

Yes, Bonn, you're right, I need to work on my knee jerk reactions to small sample sizes.

Again, where the hell was all this Jermy smarm last season, when our starting PG couldn't throw the ball in the ocean for two months. It's easier to pick on FatRay and Picasso than JKidd right?

Romantic - being outplayed by Patrick Beverly and Toney Freakin Douglas.
I wanted Lin back and it sucked that he's gone, but he made his choices and our idiot owner lived up to his personality. Move on boys.

In other, actually related news, Shump tries to make amends to the breathing little turd-god with 9 dimes.

Can you translate that to English? I'm not trying to be obnoxious. I have no idea what you're asking.

And there's no such thing as too small a sample per se. Rather, it would be too small a sample to justify a specific conclusion. Unless you can put the two together, you're not making sense.

There were a lot of posters here, myself included, that were pining for Lin. We just stopped mid-season because we wanted to concentrate on the Knicks and other posters asked us to stop mentioning Lin.

In regards with Lin being outplayed last year. I watched all Rocket games last year. He was not outplayed by Beverley or TD. Sampson did not like Lin and it showed. McHale I am not sure but he is a horrible coach and I think he listened to Sampson a lot.

Interesting. Now on top of actually being statistically better, it's the coach's fault too. You forgot the injury excuse, too.

Trust me, I understand that the pining never went away.

Pining for others is part and parcel of the whole Knicks sports fan mental negativity. From Crawfish to Ray to Gallo to Moz to Lee. It never ends.

nehemiah @ 11/14/2013 10:56 AM
Except that in this case, we got no player nor draft pick for Lin. And he may be the best of them all up there. I know it's a big "if", but I think it's not unreasonable. Consider: if Lin gets over 30 tonight, shooting over 50% again, that would be 3 games in a row that he has done that (in a small number of games). How often has Melo done that being the primary option with the much larger pool of games to draw from? Never. He has never done that.

The one thing that never goes away is your intolerance of any positive comments about former Knicks.

its not pining for others.. its being pissed about wasted resources. Lin was a dymanic and talented player we could really use who fills a position of need. MSG front office totally phucked up the sitation and we lost a good young player for nothing, something the Knicks cant afford. But there is nothing Lin can do Chris Smith cant right? The $2mm dev league player
gunsnewing @ 11/14/2013 11:08 AM
Exactly
nehemiah @ 11/14/2013 11:08 AM
By the way, Lin is not happy in Houston (though he doesn't say it of course). He has mentioned that he has talked to his agent previously when asked about coming off the bench.

This revisiting of what could have been done may have a positive side -- there may be ways to get him back if Dolan will swallow his pride.
