Knicks · Start Cole Aldrich (page 1)

Why not?

We desperately need rebounding.

The passing game improves with him

StarksEwing1 @ 11/10/2013 2:23 PM
we might as well. Cant keep bargs at C so we have nothing to lose by putting Aldrich there
misterearl @ 11/10/2013 2:25 PM
Bargnani is a two guard

Agreed. Rebounding would be improved and he showed today he has a clue out high, passing the ball and setting good screens (he even rolled once to the rim and finished). Good looking outlit passer too...Let's do it.

BRIGGS @ 11/10/2013 2:30 PM
Agree. At least he can rebound and clog the middle
NYY1NYK2 @ 11/10/2013 2:30 PM
+10000000, had more rebounds in 9 minutes than bargnani in a half.
Toure murry looks smooth , he needs to be in the rotation
ron artest should start at the 3, melo 4, aldrich 5
Bonn1997 @ 11/10/2013 2:33 PM
Yeah, he's our second best big man.
ramtour420 @ 11/10/2013 2:36 PM
+1 Our starters need to be consistent. In order for Bargs to be consistent he needs plays to be ran for him. Aldrich contributes without plays drawn for him and even creates plays by himself(that backdoor pass to Udrih, thats not in our playbook, although it should be)

At the end of the first half Amare comes in for Bargnani. Clyde says Amare coming in for defense.

Yup. It's Cole Aldrich time

Over JR's dead body, Dolan will not stand for his pipe boy not to play , he's the owners favorite player.
Why do you think Chris Smith is on the roster ?

Finestrg @ 11/10/2013 2:59 PM
We played soft today with virtually zero resistance. And I'm just sick and tired coming out flat and not into it, letting teams take it right to us. No More!!!! Unless something else makes more sense (hard to pull Bargnani because he's been playing better and we need to build on it) I might try going for more rebounding and toughness to start --

5 - Aldrich
4 - Martin
3 - Melo

Then we work in Bargnani as a backup 4/5 and Metta as a backup 3/4. Try that. Gotta set a better defensive tone early...We could still continue to start Bargnani to keep build him up -- either way cut it there with those 5 frontcourt guys...I still want to re-establish STAT but we may have to wait a little on that. And if Martin really can't handle those kind of mins, then cut Chris Smith and bring back Ike Diogu and shuffle in Diogu as one of your 5 frontcourt guys.

I have nothing against the idea of starting COle, but one thing i'll say is that Woody isn't helping Bargs with his perimeter defensive schemes. They leave a guy who isn't a natural rim protector with guys flying at him as he's trying to guard Duncan or some other big. It's too much to expect that Bargs is gonna make the right decision in a scheme like that. I don't think Bargs has been as bad as it seems but realize that guys are getting beat and then when Bargs comes over to try and block the shot he's not in there to rebound. It's not really his fault.

This is exactly what we should be doing. I don't care that it's only been 6 games, I'm done with Bargnani. We need to try and salvage this season if only to build some trade value and build for the future.

Its all bad weather in NYC...

Now people stop grasping at straws. Cole should not be starting anything. Deep down I know most fans had their doubts about this team. Nothing that they did in the Spurs game would have changed the outcome. It was a losing battle from the beginning from playing Woodson's switching defense to the players on the floor.
misterearl @ 11/10/2013 6:34 PM
We have zero defensive forwards.

Amare Stoudemire is done. Kenyon Martin is on a pitch count. Neither can stay with younger flyers. We are out rebounded by significant margins on a nightly basis.

The only 6'10+ who can dive inside and grab a rebound is Cole Aldrich

How can the roster be left so vulnerable up front?
