Knicks · patience, sky is not falling (yet) (page 2)

I don't think it's falling yet either. Remembering last March and that west coast trip, losing the first four badly. I was ready to give up on them. They just looked awful and weren't competing. That had to be their low point last season but they turned it around and caught fire and reeled off that awesome 13 game win streak. I just wish Kenyon Martin could fill in at center again with bigger minutes like he did then. But, this is a funky team, anything can happen.

This year is different.
The expectations are set well to high for this team.
This is killing them.
Melo called a meeting after 1-3 start... why? Who the hell is Melo?
Dolan wants the Dancers out and declared must win games? Crazy...
Who carees about bbal out there? Not to many at the Garden.
So why worry?
gunsnewing @ 11/12/2013 6:23 AM
Yea Melo isn't exactly playing lockdown defense so calling a team meeting is kind of silly

really who cares "who" called the team meeting if it can solve some of the team problems, which hasn't happened yet but still can happen

i look at this as a good thing and an attempt at solving the current issues, who said the guy calling the team meeting has been the one pointing fingers ... no one, and there is no evidence to that

who knows what has been said in this team meeting, only the players ...

i don't get your negativity and why it should turn into a "Melo" thing...

I'm just responding to the post above

Melo called the team meeting,

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony questioned the team's effort in a players-only meeting following a loss to the Charlotte Bobcats on Tuesday.

"We shut the door after the game and talked it out a little bit and tried to figure out what was happening," Anthony said Friday.

sorry for being a buttinski but when melo claims that he wants to test free agency and enjoy the process that sends a message to the team. and then he decides to call a team meeting? i don't know how effective a team meeting is going to be....

If they had a pick I would consider it a positive but they don't. But I see what you are saying losing shows you what changes need to be made to better the team. This is starting to feel like the NY Giants season. Poor start maybe a coaching change may be the cure all for this team. Something like Pat the rat firing SVG and leading the Heat to the championship. There are no Pat Riley type coaches available to take over. And the Knicks don't have Shaq or Wade on the team. Just Melo and no one else.

Giants are the anti-Dolan organization. They build on trust, patience and fundamentals. Even after losing 6 games they are one win against and Aaron Rogers-less Packers team next week from playing the Cowgirls for first place two weeks from now. I actually think the Giants win the division and make a good run. Why? The players will rally. Giants fix. Knicks take sh!ts.

I'm a lifelong Giant fan. Perhaps you are not as old as me, but in the mid to late 1970s or during the Ticket burning era........ you wouldn't be talking about how great of an organization the Giants were.

I dont like what I have seen so far, but I'll have patience with the Knicks this year (for now) since it is still early enough.

Melo calling a team meeting turns to be a "Melo me thing" for some disliking Melo ... What a surprise !

Melo teammates are not as sensitive and obsessive as you are regarding his comments to the media ... and on top of that they can talk to him directly ... so please ... and one last thing, this topic was not about Melo when I created it ...

This is truly surprising coming from you.

If he did nothing, would it be okay to continue reading about how this team has no effing leadership qualities on it?
Welcome to the UK, where everything Melo is an easy lose-lose.

dk7th, if he can produce a stat line like he did in the Bobcats game, I would vote for team meetings every day. Wouldn't you?

running your mouth is not leadership... it takes more... dude basically told his team, he is going to look elsewhere and then starts yapping about guys not giving effort.. well how about he lead the way on the court..

defend, stop that lazy swinging at the ball, reaching and move your feet.. give a 110% effort yourself.. that is how you show leadership..

were the Mara's owners then? That was 40 years ago! Things have been pretty good since. Even when they werent winning titles and were mudding along with Kerry Collins and Danny Kanel and the like they were still pretty good and ran a classy organization. The Yankees were crazy also but George turned it around quite nicely I would say and learned to take a step back (forcibly) but came back a better owner and it payed off bigtime.

Here's how I see this:
Knicks will play abou .500 ball, maybe less for the next two months. The coach gets fired. Tyson comes back. Melo goes on one of his 2 month hot streaks where he lights it up everynight. Knicks finish like 20-5 or something and are the 5th or 6th seed. Melo gets his big extension. Rinse wash repeat. The winners: CAA
