Irresponsible is the best way to describe it.. it goes beyond being bad... It is irresponsile.
It is like a person who gets behind the wheel of a car, stumbling drunk.. it has nothing to do with being a good or bad driver, but being irresponsible.. even a person who does not know how to drive knows you should not get behind the wheel drunk... it is just irresponsible to do so.

Until we begin valuing our picks and figuring out ways to acquire more of them, we'll never be a true contender. There are 3 methods for building a team: (1) trades, (2) free agent signings and (3) draft picks. Historically, the Knicks have made a bad habit of relying on just one option to do so I.e. trades or FA signings. Successful teams like the Spurs have maximized their ability to use all 3, which is how they have managed to stay on top for nearly two decades. We need to take a page out of their book.

The prudent thing to do would be to trade Melo and Tyson (ideally to the Clippers for Blake and DeAndre), if we can't wait get Rondo. I'd then trade off whatever assets we'd have left for draft picks (probably 2nd rounders) and let the rest of my contracts expire in 2015, so that I can hit the reset button.

So you're rest features Blake making 20 mil? thats what he makes in 2015 and still has years left.

I wasn't outlining the exact trade but just the principles that should be involved. The deal is very much possible if it is expanded. And for the record, I don't like the idea of Griffin being my best player but at his age and his talent, he'd be more valuable than Melo in a deal. For one, we could easily reroute him to a rebuilding team (e.g. CLE, PHI, PHO, BOS, TOR) for a boatload of draft picks and a few young players. If that isn't possible, he at least keeps things interesting for us as we figure out how to refit the roster.
