the more appropriate chant is... FIRE Woodson, clap, clap, clap-clap-clap.
Under a real coach, this kid would blossom. Woodson is using him as a pawn to save his job.

How is Woodson using Shump?

newyorknewyork @ 11/16/2013 6:58 AM
Jr Smith screwed us in the playoffs yes. But lets also not forget that he took less money 3 seasons in a row and was one of the key reasons we had a successful season last yr. The signing of his younger brother is nonsense though.

Coaches get on young players all the time because they want them to reach there potential. Shumpert had max opportunity to be aggressive and shine when Jr Smith was out and Bargnani was coming on slow. If Shumpert is the player we want him to be he has to take opportunities like that and run with it to the point where he forces himself to be a #2 or #3 option.

Hardaway Jr puts up 7 shot attempts every 17mins. Shumpert puts up 7 shot attempts every 30mins. MWP puts up 9 shot attempts in 24mins, Jr Smith puts up 12 in 30, Felton puts up 12 in 35.

Shump hasn't shot a free throw attempt in 2 games and has no free throw attempts 5 out of the 8 games.

I think it's becoming clearer we'd have to do the Shump-Faried trade if it's still on the table and we could do it without a 1st round pick. Or even if we could just give them a 2nd round pick. But I assume they have no interest in that.

Wish I could see the intense kid who dug in on on Rose and Pierce instead of this one who reaches and seems to be going through the motions. The talent is still there if you saw Atlanata game but simply not being employed. I sense he's ticked at the org and Woodson not taking a strong stance supporting and utilizing him properly

I can give you a million reasons why he should not play in spurts.....

Agreed....Its understood that JR has image problems, but lets not forget, when Melo went down with injury, he carried us for long stretches of the season and we do not with the atlantic division with out JR. Shump seems to be the same player he was in his rookie year. His jumper may have improved slightly, but he still puts his head down and drives to the paint without a plan. Leaves his feet, with nowhere to go....Lets not put all the blame on the organization for him not improving his game much....

There's a lot of other things to do in NY when you are young with money and your employer doesn't want you anymore.

Shumpert and Felton must be in a trade together to get us a 1st rate PG, because we always get rapped in deals because of our owner. Donnie is gone, Grunwald is gone, other GM's don't respect the clowns running the knicks now.

Vmart @ 11/16/2013 9:33 AM
Shumpert is mentally broke, this is when a players true color comes out. Watching Faried play and he is rumored too and he is still performing at a high level. Shump isn't coming off as a mentally tough player. A player coming back from an ACL injury can do anything, Shump should realize this and to be in demand forget about it. Shump should see this as a compliment to his tireless work ethic.

I agree. I wouldn't mind trying to add Bargs to the deal if we can continue to rebuild his value.

I think a good trade to look into would be to the Suns for Dragic and Alex Len.

If you have to give up more then Shump then it isn't worth it.

Denver's owner hasn't publicly dissed Faried though.

Shump doesn't want to leave NY, HE HAS A LOT OF INTEREST HERE.

Remember Gallo didn't want to leave either.

Young players (non married) view NY as a getaway for them when they aren't hooping, they explore the city like a tourist, but command respect as a Pro Athlete.

Being a member of the Knicks devalues Iman Shumpert from the Knicks standpoint. Everyone knows the Knicks are desparate for a trade.

How about Shumpert to SAC-TOWN for ISAIAH THOMAS

They have an aging sg in John Salmons at 33 yrs of age

Jason Thompson he's from Jersey maybe that could be a trade for Shump Too, only 27 yrs old

I have always liked Thompson. Not sure why he is erratic with minutes and numbers. Some names mentioned in the point guard thread to consider, Dragic, Lowry, Reggie Jackson... I know there were some others that I liked. The problem with Shump is that he is on a rookie contract and some of the guys that might be available have bigger deals. Other than Felton and JR, the Knicks contracts are either obscene or league mini type deals so getting something to work with a guy not on a rookie deal will be hard.

I like Thompson, but I think he has three more years due at 6 million per. I'd pass at that price.

Don't let Denvers posturing fool you. They've invested a lot of money in McGee and Hickson. Having Hickson and Faried makes no sense for them. Faried was drafted later than Shump- at worst they are of equal value, at best Shump has more upside. This nonsense that Faried is worth Shump AND a pick is utter crap!

You're comparing a guy who really doesn't contribute much to a player who will give you 16 and 12 if given starter's minutes.

Looking at some stuff about Faried predraft. While he is only 6'6" he has a standing reach of 9'. Also Tyler has a 7'5" wingspan. Hope he is coming back to the Knicks soon.

He's on the border between starter and excellent 6th man. Being on that border puts him well ahead of Shumpert though. It's not like we're trading an established strong starter for him.

Faried started 80 games last year and averaged 11 and 9. I would love to know what numbers a healthy shump puts up in Karl's system last year if he started 80 games. I think the deal is fair for both parties. I think you are overrating Faried a bit but I think Shump is overrated by some Knick fans. My biggest complaint with Shump is that all of the negatives written about his game pre draft are still present.
Bonn1997 @ 11/16/2013 5:42 PM
Yeah he started but did not play starter's minutes. I said Faried is on the border between starter and one of the top 6 men, and I don't think that's overrating him.
Basically, Faried averages almost a double double while Shumpert has had only 1 double-double in in his career. I'd give Shumpert and 2 2nd round picks but I wouldn't give a first round pick up.
