So yes you can rebuild in NY, but it has to be known upfront Walsh did it, everyone knew it too.

How many people we re up there tix at these prices next year when we win 31 games and watch Denver use a top 10 or 3 pick on a player that should be ours? When fans realize the team will likely be the same shtty team because James Dolan capped us out and gave away everything to get Carmelo?
No, I'd rather have Gallo, Mozgov, Chandler, our two first round picks, and two second round picks.
And we shouldn't have given Amare anything more than a 3 month contract!

We gave away everything for Amare, not Melo. Even in his current funk, Melo is and always has been a top 15 player in the league for us. That carries with it significant value and I'm sure we'd be able to recoup our "losses" if we decided to trade him. Amare's a different story. We effectively gave up Zach Randolph, David Lee, Jamal Crawford, Jordan Hill, our 2012 pick, several 2nd rounders, and a host of opportunities to trade for late first round picks to penny pinch for 2010, to have the chance to sign him and another star that never materialized from that offseason. And for what, half a season of stellar play?

Meh if we had more cap space and picks we'd have just spent it on Monta Ellis and drafted more role players and Jordan hill's. Grass is always greener...
Getting what we get is a result hot the reason.
This was one way to go wrong but many hundreds other way to go wrong exist.
People with no vision, smarts, passion, and heart are doomed to go wrong.
Its just a matter of time.

Ewing trade killed the franchise, Camby trade burried it, then the Eddy Curry trade desecrated it's corpse.
The IT era had the double whammy of keeping us awful, but trading away our picks (unprotected) so we couldn't capitalize on it.
I didn't actually mind the Walsch era, or the Melo era- at least those had hope and we were average to pretty good.
The last two or three years were not as bad as the IT era, I don't know why people bundle them together.

We'd be no better off- Wilson is always injured (I like him though), the first rounders would likely have been average at best.

NO...THAT WAS FOR LEBRON. AMARI WAS JUST A PANIC MOVE.
I can forgive the stuff we gave up for Amare because in actuality it was not for Amare. It was for Lebron and it was looking like we had a good chance to get him at the time. We did make a mistake settling for Amare. I don't like that we gave up all those assets for Melo. Melo is a great player but he is VERY flawed. Melo is a robin and not a batman. Melo is great when all he has to worry about is finishing. The problem is he does not seem to notice that himself. He wants to ISO all the time and make things harder for himself and our coach loves ISO just as much as he does.
Last game we ran a play and he got an easy open mid range shot. Did we ever run that play again? No, we did ISO melo the next 3 times down. Sure he will put up numbers because he is a good player but the shots are almost always bad shots. Either long 3's without even thinking about passing the ball that possession or contested shots where he is being doubled or triple teamed.

yea, giving amare the contract was a risk with his knees, but no way was dolan going to sit back and not get a thing....Amare only cost us salary cap space, and honestly no one expected his knees to give out this fast... well steve kerr hinted at it, but honestly, this fast?
