All I will say it isn't a youngster, it's a vet .
Making that kind of comment one would think it's somebody on the team who's away from the team and who's has his money already stashed.
The highest paid knick who's not a Dolan man Tyson Chandler!
It could never be Melo or Amare, he sucked them into the garden 1st with $$$$$$$, they could never turn on him now.
I imagined it being shump

Never shump, who's looking for a big payday after his rookie contract. He has too much to lose.
playa - The Answwer Man looks to a player known for making candid remarks... One who does not care about what people think... And one not bound by MSG politics, because he just arrived... But he has been around the block a few times.

misterearl wrote:Schemes don't play defensePlayers play defense
The Knicks do not have the players to defend
Felton - lacking in lateral quicks on tender hamstring.
Shump - did somebody say second surgery?
Artest - aging with knee issues
Stoudemire - (cough)
Melo - expending more energy than most, on both ends
Bargnani - still learning
Tyson - out
Prigioni - not physical but the steals are cute
Hardaway - learning the league and the refs
Aldrich - should be worked into rotation
Smith - overplays and gambles too much
Sheed played like 20 games, kt probably less, camby played 30 minutes the entire season.
The 13 game win streak we had no tyson, no kt, no amare, no camby, no sheed..You forgot we signed earl baron.
It was essentially copeland, kmart, even novak and melo played spot Center some nights. The effort was there almost every night..
Schemes Don't Play Defense

Knicks1248 - thank you for the documentation to help make the point.
Sheed - gone
Kurt - gone
Camby - gone but not missed
Copeland - gone
Novak - gone

Why?
I don't think he feels loyalty to the team anymore so i guess i figured he'd say whatever he wanted, they're gonna trade him anyway. But now I agree with the answer man that it's probably MWP.
Woody has a lot of issues that go beyond the defense. His overall handle on how to use this roster is absent. You can tell he doesn't have a good handle on how to use this roster and we all know he's not a very creative offensive coach either. Poor defense on top of poor offense is not a good combination. The only thing we can hope for is that by some miracle Felton starts playing better on both ends, JR starts to take better shots, pass once in a while and drive to the basket. Hopefully get more out of KMart and hope the team gets hot shooting. This team was built to be a good offensive team. If they don't score the ball they don't have enough defense to just stop teams consistently. Even with Tyson back this team has some holes on D. Still it is true that a lot of the problems can get better with more effort and working together as a unit, which hasn't happened so far this season.

melo does not lift the play of others. if jr could pass it to himself he would and i think he actually has a few times. and ray felton is hot potato pg that moves it east/west.
when your best passer is bargs, then the team has no shot at being a solid cohesive offensive unit.
there is no fix for this by changing head coach. i am seeing this same exact thing with the raptors. demar + rudy have no idea how to pass and make others better which kills the offense. this is a very very fundamentally flawed roster with limited team-first players. any coaching change will be a short lived burst of 5 hour energy before you come crashing down...
dolan's emergence from the shadows has already forecasted how this season will play out...and you're seeing it.
nixluva - when player minutes are mandated by the owner and medical staff, how much freedom does any coach have?
When the GM must waste a roster spot on a certified scrub, how does that blatant disregard for players who earned recognition affect team morale?
Why was Grunwald fired? Because he knew Chris Smith was a scrub and hated the deal. That's why. Look at the timing.
You seem stuck on this crusade of comparative coaching acumen, without looking at context.
This is about a person simply doing what his boss tells him. Period.
Don't get it twisted

What does any of this have to do with coming out of camp ready for the season? The guy had all summer to figure out how he wanted to play this year and he was clueless to start the season. There is so much outside of Dolan's edicts where Woody is completely in charge of what is going on. His lineups and rotations. The actual plays he runs or doesn't run. The defensive schemes and attention to detail.
You can't let Woody off the hook for this stuff. He's had FAR easier than many of the previous Knick coaches who had less to work with. Team just never looked well coached to start this season. Guys were bumping into each other and getting in the way on offense. No spacing, ball or player movement. Not enough set plays. Just looks like he rolled the ball out there. We've all seen enough BB in our lives to know when we see a well coached team.

The only thing melo needs to do is play more with in the flow of the game, and that will only come when you get a coach with a different offensive system and a pg that can run an offense..
Nixluva - if you ev played sports you are completely, or deliberately, ignoring the concept of team unity.
The coach is just following orders from the owner on his $100M investment. One stress point can affect the playing personality of a roster. Just one.
Dolan cannot fire or hire people randomly and expect 100 per cent buy in to the cause.
Basketball Games are sometimes won or lost on TALENT and cohesive effort. Your bleating about how a 54 win coach, who has honed his strategies under the best basketball coaches (Holzman, Knight, Daly) in the history of the world, is suddenly brain dead, is ludicrous.
Ludicrous as your love affair with Mike D'Antoni

You need a PG who also defends and a coach who will allow the PG to run the offense
gunsnewing - do you think Mike Woodson would be a better coach with Kyrie Irving?

like MDA? Who after Linsanity asked Melo to get his offense in the flow of the game. Like that? Fools gold man. A new coach isnt fixing this.
Martin and Amare want more playing time. Doc says no. You know if these guys get hurt playing over their minutes they will sue the organization. I think Knicks should get something in writing from these two and throw them out there.

woodson also lost his team here in Atlanta and was ad odds with the GM who wanted him fired in the worst way.. woodson is a good assistant coach...

for 13 seasons it has always been some one else or something else.. coach, lack of PG, PG, lack of help... No a new coach isn't fixing this at all like you said.. first it was dantoni.. woody was supposed to be the father figure.. now woodson is the problem.. this is so predictable..
