As his NBA comeback bid gathers momentum, troubled free agent Lamar Odom has traveled to Rhode Island to work out with renowned superstar trainer, Rob McClanaghan, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Lamar Odom played for the Clippers last season. (USA Today) Odom recently met with Los Angeles Clippers officials to discuss a possible third stop with the franchise, and is working out daily with McClanaghan in the Ryan Center on campus in Kingston, R.I. The Rhode Island basketball team is on the road in Arizona for the Preseason NIT.

Odom's professional and personal life had hit significant turbulence in recent years, spiraling with arrests and bouts with substance addiction.

McClanaghan has several superstar clients, including Chicago's Derrick Rose, Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant, Minnesota's Kevin Love and Golden State's Stephen Curry. McClanaghan lives in Rhode Island.

Odom, 34, was arrested on a DUI charge in August in Los Angeles, and his tumultuous marriage to reality TV star, Khloe Kardashian, has made him a staple of tabloid news.

Odom posed for pictures on campus with students and staff on Monday. He played one year of basketball at the University of Rhode Island in the 1998-99 season.

He's right there in Rhode Island a front court player who Dolan would welcome with open arms...he substance has issues.

He couldn't handle New York. Too much pressure.

smackeddog @ 11/19/2013 6:27 PM
If we can't get Odom maybe we could sign the Mayor of Toronto?
gunsnewing @ 11/19/2013 6:34 PM
That guy is awesome Id hire him as GM and coach
Solace @ 11/19/2013 6:36 PM
Would it really be called "landing" Lamar at this point? More like draining the bottom of the barrel.
anrst @ 11/19/2013 8:33 PM
id prefer rashad mccants
franco12 @ 11/19/2013 8:36 PM
given our owners addiction status, I think we could very well provide him a roster spot.
gunsnewing @ 11/19/2013 8:36 PM
I'd go for Victor Page
Dagger @ 11/19/2013 8:46 PM
More like are the Knicks dumb enough to sign Odummy.
VCoug @ 11/19/2013 8:50 PM
Better question: Why would we want to?

My favorite comment of 2013: "If we can't get Odom maybe we could sign the Mayor of Toronto?" Thank you, smackeddog! The only thing better would be Rob Ford and Doug Ford, we will dominate with the Ford Bros and the Smith Bros!

A circus always needs more attractions.

This has a very high percentage of happening. The attention it would attract is right up Dolan's alley.
