These are some of our darkest days in a while, but there are a few reasons for optimism:
4) Rose is out for the season. Again. They're worse than last year. No Nate. No Belinelli. They can only hope the rest of the crew can stay healthy. That means that top 3 playoff standings are achievable.
3) The Nets are terrible/No one's running away with our division: It's true. If we're having a bad start, the Nets are even worse. Arguably their best player (Deron) has serious nagging ankle issues. And Kidd's coaching appears suboptimal. Do we really believe we'll finish lower than the Sixers?!
2) Our summer surgery guys WILL get healthier: Shumpert, Metta, JR, Stoudemire... these guys all had clean-ups over the summer. They *SHOULD* get back into basketball shape soon. I guess Bargnani might fall into this group too, though he's already started to turn the corner.
1) Chandler will be back. A broken leg ain't good, but he'll be saving some wear and tear on his knees, ankles, and back for later in the season.
We also have smaller factors - we haven't seen Toure play yet and Jeremy Tyler should be ready to sign sooner or later. I think what the Knicks are really in dire need for is some loose, hungry young players. It's always been part of San Antonio's secret sauce. You can't just have a ton of business-like veterans. You need some young guys you can root for, some players with the Xfactor.

Great points. Team has to come together, get focused, and play like they have a chip on their shoulder.

Thank you sir, this board needs this thread.
Toronto, we just have to catch Toronto! This is doable!
Courage gentleman! Channel all that whining self-entitlement into destroying your inner crybaby frontrunner!

Thank you for the positivity. A couple of wins catches the division lead. Shows how early in the season it is and why freaking out is not the answer.

+1, although brace yourself for lectures on the meaninglessness of the division, and the rest of the conference, outside of those great, well-run, stellar, historic Miami and Indiana franchises...

Reasons to be cheerfful.....
1. Its the Mecca, respect mon! 2. Its a long season. 3. Prozac 4. Yankees have 27 world series wins!!!! 5. Nets suck. Thus, it elevates our suckitude. 6. How many more "secret surguries" can be left? 7. More food at club level with Woody Allan banned from it. 8. Dolan spoke. Now we know when team hits low. 9. Woodson is good for now. When he speaks from the Parking Lot, we know its time. 10.Charles Barkley got it wrong last year.
Part 3:

1. Dolan is not immortal and one day will die. Sadly, many of us will pass before he does. 2. Ted Stepien came before Dolan, hence we can't trade our draft pick every year 3. There is a chance Melo will sign elsewhere during free agency 4. He may opt out early

Lol. Unfortunately, Dolan is only in his 50s and is stupid rich; we might be dealing with him for another 50 years.
smackeddog@ 11/26/2013 11:13 AM
There was an update about Tyler in that NYpost article on Chris Smith (which I bet none of you read because you thought it was all about Chris Smith!):
Behind him, Tyler was taking extra jumpers.
Tyler was the last player off the court. He said his right foot, which was operated on in September, felt fine. Cross expected him to play by early December. In the meantime, Tyler said, he was working on moving his feet in the post, playing hard without fouling, being more vocal and mastering defensive schemes.

This is unacceptable. This thread is so devoid of pessimism and repetitive whining that it makes me sick!
Can we please discuss iso plays and ex-Knicks now?
DrAlphaeus@ 11/26/2013 8:09 PM
Never heard that "Reasons to Be Cheerful, Part 3" track before, Nalod… that's a jam!
And to help ToddTT out: I miss Linsanity.
NB: I haven't even seen a game yet. Only tuned into the season opener win via the radio. Walked down Bushwick Ave. with my transistor, take that Nets-come-lately! So outside box scores and game recaps, the current malaise is very abstract to me. It's still early, right? My season doesn't start in earnest until Christmas. :)

1. The Knicks are owned by Cablevision. The Dolan family has heirs. 2. Our draft picks are gone. This years draft class is packed with blue chip prospects 3. Moving or losing Carmelo Anthony would be an admission that Dolan was wrong.

4 Reasons for optimism:
1. Jameson's Irish whiskey 2. Self deception. 3. These days the games are lost in the first quarter, so you can go do other stuff. 4. Our 2014 draft pick....oh wait....no... 3 reasons... only 3 reasons.
