What about amare? Hakeem could be a catalyst for that deal. Amare is wasting here. The Rockets don't have a big man. The young kid they have in there is doing good though. Houston could capitalize on a resurrected amare....we could do the same with Lin and asik.

Here's the deal with Amar'e -- the dude has zero trade value right now. Horrible contract, bad knees and he's a shell of what he used to be ability-wise. That's the reality...Any team looking to deal for him wouldn't even give us pennies on the dollar for him right now and rightly so I suppose. And for us, as we've seen time & time again with him, whenever he's hurt and had a long layoff recovering from something, it takes him an eternity to round back into form. I was all for playing him bigger mins and being patient even as of a few days ago -- it's just so painful and so hard to watch how far he's fallen. Can't even execute the most basic of moves, his jumper's all but disapeared, gets his shot thrown back at him 75% of the time (sometimes by players that aren't even shot-blockers)...PAINFUL...Even his whole demeanor -- it's like he knows he done now. You barely hear a peep outta the man now-a-days. So sorry to say it but I really think the end is near...And forget Kenyon Martin. I can't stand this guy. Go get Kevin Jones from the D-League, maybe Malcolm Thomas...Sign a 7 footer with promise etc. -- Hassan Whiteside (at least when a guy like Lillard beats Udrih off the dribble like he's not even there, there'll be a nice little surprise waiting for him at the rim) or a real polished, ready-to-go 7-footer like Marcus Cousin. These options are out there man -- we just aren't doing anything about this problem. Life as a Knick fan is much better when Dolan isn't meddling and inserting himself into the day to day decision making process. Not sure where Grunwald was reassigned but I think he needs to be freed as well.

I think Shump is on a mission to reduce his value and his pay check. I don't think Sac goes for that. Maybe the Knicks can approach Boston for Phil Pressey. Shump for Pressey straight up.

^ I agree we need help at the point, even agree a youngster like Pressey could help, but there's no way I'm dealing for a guy like Pressey when I know for a fact I could get something similar w/o giving up anything. Detroit grabbed Payton Siva late in the draft (56) -- nobody thought that kid was an NBA PG and look at him now--he's contributing...Look into making a small deal with Houston for Isaiah Canaan...Where's Pierre Jackson? New Orleans drafted him in the middle of the 2nd round but I think they gave up on him. Playing in France I believe...Where's Sherron Collins these days??? Michael Loyd Jr??? One criticism of Woodson that I agree with is that he is putting guys out there that aren't successful and he continues to stick with them expecting change. I get being loyal, to guys and trying to develop chemistry but what he has been doing hasn't worked for 6 straight games. Giving Cole and Murry some run and playing hardaway junior couldn't hurt and something might click.

I know the rockets were able to spread out their contracts at $8 per which is more than reasonable value. But would another team be able to do the same or get hit with the $15mil in their final year? Not that it would affect the Knicks in 2015 anyway. We are well over the cap until then

I think they are set at 8 mil per now. It is a lousy rule in the cba. The new cba was supposed to set up so that teams could keep their young players.

Agreed poison pills are a frickin joke. Makes no sense. This is what we missed over half a season for. Amare Melo and Shumpert were actually healthy then but not bring able to workout during the lock out hurt the players big time

Pierre Jackson isn't in Europe btw; he's in the DL with the Idaho Stampede. Had 2 very good games for them so far. Here's a guy that's better than Phil Pressey. A little small, yeah, but he's a dynamite little talent. He's bigger than Nate Robinson. Similar game actually, only this guy's more of a PG. Look what Nate did for Chicago last year. I'd sign up for this kid right now! Speaking of Chicago -- down Rose, it wouldn't surprising me if they picked up Jackson. I think he'd be a good fit there..

I would trade Tyson to SAC for Vasquez and Salmons. SAC in another free fall. Tyson would be a bandaid for them this season. They can move Cousins to PF.

Vasquez would solve our problems at PG. He is also under performing at SAC so the time is right to pry him.

I like the idea of Seth Curry. Pressey is a pure PG who has great passing skills.

I like the idea of Seth Curry. Pressey is a pure PG who has great passing skills.

This guy is showing a real under control, smooth floor game. He's doing everything for Santa Cruz (4-0 with him at the helm). Distributing the ball well and knocking down his shots (a lot of his damage is coming from 2-pt range too btw). I don't think he's some one trick pony 3-pt shooter. He's showing a fairly complete game. Playing at a high level. I think he may be a lot closer to his brother than people realize. He really had an excellent year for Duke last season. Good enough to get drafted imo. I would've made the move for him yesterday. I mean we wanted Steph Curry in the draft -- could his little brother be the next best thing? Can you imagine if we grabbed this kid and he put up a 20-10 game and we won and continued winning??? Wow...It could be Linsanity all over again man! The worst we're looking at here is a very useful 40%+ 3-pt shooter to rotate at both our guard positions. Best case scenario -- we uncover an all-star level talent here. Take the chance. Come hard and heavy -- he's probably comfortable where he is, playing for GS's affiliate waiting for a callup to play with his brother. If I'm Mills I see a great opportunity here -- I'd offer the kid the most money I could and I'd guarantee him mins, maybe even a starting role. I'd also sell him on the Garden, the Mecca and what it'd be like if he were responsible for a turnaround this season. Go from there. This could be a big move -- a Linsanity-type move. I'm telling you...

What about Austin Rivers? New Orleans is still holding in to him.

That's the type of thing the this organization is afraid of a Linsanity situation. Antoher player they would develop and if he exploded then they would have to deal with his demand in FA. Our main player and Woody don't go for that kind of stuff. That means Woody has to be more creative and he doesn't want any of that, and Melo would have to share the ball with his teammates and that can't happen under his watch.

The solution to the whole 'if a player blows up here, he's gonna bolt' is to offer 2-years guaranteed. Should've mentioned that above. Teams have all learned from prior experience and are now offering 2nd round draft picks and undrafted free agents they like & consider keepers 2 yr deals. Maybe we go a step further to get Curry and offer a 3 yr guaranteed deal if that's even possible (that could further protect us from having to deal with a Jeremy Lin type free agent situation, although players in this category may not want that 3rd year as it would put them 1 year further away from a potential big payday). As for Melo, I know what you're saying--he didn't appear to fully embrace Lin at the time esp. after the 1st couple of games but I'm sure, based on how bad his team's looked thusfar, how hard he's had to work in these games, all the negativity etc. he'd welcome another similar success story this time around with open arms.
