Knicks · Before this year Mike Woodson had a record of 172-94 over his last 4 years (page 2)

The W/L record doesn't tell the whole story. Especially regular season. If you can't see bad coaching with this guy I can't help you. I saw some good things over Woody's tenure but also some alarming things that are now confirmed this year minus some crutches and good luck he's had. He's been exposed on far too many occasions. It's not often the case but sometimes a coach isn't really making as much of a difference as it seems. One thing that exposes it is the kind of lack of answers we've seen from Woody.

Lionel Hollins, SVG, Karl I don't know who the answer is but I'm pretty sure it's not Woodson! We might get Tyson back and win some games but I'm convinced Woody isn't the coach that can push a team farther and especially not in the playoffs.

Anyone? And dont say Phil Jackson--he would not coach this team for 25mm a year.

fack the record and look at his offensive sets.... thats what they are.... OFFENSIVE...even to a 6 year old.

I thought they spread the floor pretty well tonight--we hit 13 3's and 23 assists(more than NO). We simply dont have team speed or a PG who can push the ball for additional easy baskets. This is a slow team--wait until Tyson is back when we have bargs and tyson together--it will be really slow.

Anybody who is playing in tune with Dolan is idiot already regardless of what he does later.
Larry Brown was looking as idiot with all his HOF status, legend Isiah was looking like an idiot, MDA became terrible...
If some coach will be by mistake good he will be escorted from the MSG by security after the game and out.
This team can only raise from the toilet they are sitting in last 15 years if Dolan will get fed up with it and let someone who has any idea about pro sport run the show. Then even Woody will be good again...

woodson is still playing last yrs style like we have last yr players

amare was a + on the floor(the only player to have a +) and we went up by 6, you pull him out after 13 minutes of play to put bargiani back in who has been brutal in the 4th.

Pelican went right after barg on the pick n roll and he ends trying to defend gordan.

shump played 14 minutes less then JR, looking at the stat st you would think JR was our starting sg..

You played MWP 34 seconds, priggs who started a 10-2 run was benched right in the middle of the run..

Kmart who has been playing well, played spot duty..jr fancy dribbling which led to a TO and score, was giving more time, and not some much as a slap on the wrist for his follies..

You see woodson on the side line motioning his team to push the ball, and no one is listening to him.

What team speed did we have last year? This team was winning games last year with not much of a different roster at the end of the season. Sheed and Kurt weren't contributing. It was basically who we have now except for Kidd. Slow ass Felton, Prigs, Shump and JR who aren't slow, Melo, KMart were playing. There's no reason that Woody should be having this much trouble getting this team to play decent BB.

Tyson missed 10 games and during that time the team won 8 games on the way to 16-2. Kidd was a shell of himself at that time, so it's not like he was playing great. Tho I do recognize Kidd's ability to keep the ball moving. Prigs was in the starting lineup. That should not have been hard for Woody to try and emulate when mostly it was about spreading the floor and moving the ball. There's no reason that Woody should not be able to win a fair amount of games even with this roster.

Why should the defense be this bad when we had prett mucha similar lack of quickness and athletic ability last year? Felton, Prigs, Kidd vs. Felton, Prigs, Beno isn't a change in quickness on the perimeter. They used KMart late last year and we have KMart this year plus STAT and Aldrich off the bench if needed. There just isn't a valid reason to give Woody a pass for his poor performance this year.

He forgot how to coach in the past 8 months. And that just happens to coincide with him being given a shitty roster.
We need a coach who can turn a bottom five roster into a top five team. Any suggestions, Nixluva?
EnySpree @ 12/2/2013 6:22 AM
You can't let a guy live after coming out of training camp and preseason with the same starters we ended the season with. We had new players and they all are on the bench. He should have had it figured out Cuzco that's his job. He's still taking about they are still trying to figure it out. How they are close.... that's unacceptable.

You have to play to your players strengths. We have the same record as the bucks. Only Utah has a worse record. That is unacceptable. We should be winning more games regardless if Tyson is out. Are we bank to Larry brien shot now? Do we have to find Woodson type players? We won 56 games with this guy. This year has been a cluster fuck and he is the root of it.

Lionel Hollins, skiles, Stan the man van gundy. Pick a guy and let's go.

Yes the knocks still have flaws. We still need to upgrade the talent. But having a coach that had guys isolating every play and no pays being called? No offensive philosophy? No adjustments? That's Bullshit. That's why he never won in Atlanta. He had younger guys then buy they isolated to death there too. This is not a mistake. This group can't play that way and win the whole thing.

He should not be the coach walking into the Barclay center Thursday.

Felton, shump and amare, even beno should not be in the roster either but they are next in my book. Heads should roll all over. New coach, new point guard, New big...we are at Rock bottom.

This is worse than when we were bad before because we have more talent now.

Bonn1997 @ 12/2/2013 6:24 AM
Some of the players are the same but they're older, slower, and/or injured.
fishmike @ 12/2/2013 8:54 AM
Briggs... I hear what your saying. I have been saying the same thing on this board since Don Chaney did a very respectable job with a very weak roster. The problem is the players.

However coaching in the NBA is like 20% Xs and Os and 80% chemistry. When the chemistry isnt mixing changing coaches is a normal and somewhat logical move.

I hear what your saying though, and no matter who the coach is Bargani is still patrolling the paint and JR Smith is still launching shots that often miss the rim completely.

gunsnewing @ 12/2/2013 9:01 AM
Yep and the coach chooses to sink with JR. Going back to the playoffs last year. It would help if they actually worked on plays in practice instead of dumping the ball to Melo every time and trusting him to make a play. The only play Melo knows is the ones where he is shooting the ball regardless of what the defense is doing. Why do you even need a coach at this point?
GustavBahler @ 12/2/2013 9:08 AM
Players lose their game, lose their effectiveness, and so do coaches. Its ridiculous to argue that because a coach is doing a lousy job now, means that he's always done a lousy job. Woodson has shown to be a good coach but he's letting mgmt make his coaching decisions for him. Coaches who are still independent thinkers after they sign on the dotted line get the boot. That's why someone like Phil Jackson isn't even being considered, Dolan wants company men. Thats a recipe for disaster.

As for who could we get? Thats the problem, it would probably be one of his assistants.

gunsnewing @ 12/2/2013 9:16 AM
It won't be any of his assistants. They will go right out the door with him. Except Herb. They don't play until Thursday. Now is the time to bring in a new coach and so he can have a 2day training camp to implement a new system

It ain't happenin
It's over

They wont fire the coach and his assistants during the season because even Dolan knows that he would have a hard time attracting a coach worth his salt. Try thinking of the last time that happened, has it ever happened? You're right about Herb though, he's dug in like a tick.
