Knicks · Gasol for tyson and jr? Broussard (page 4)

Check this out:
http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/player...Bonn, chandler can't stay healthy and honestly we get rid of his salary... This team is not a winning formula.. so I envision pau coming off the books, chandler, JR smith and then the true blessing carmelo opts out... that would take over 40 mil off the books next year... then you can start the fire sale earlier..
I am all for that...
If you think Chandler can't stay healthy, you're not gonna like Gasol. Getting out of Chandler's salary doesn't change our cap situation. It will help fill Dolan's pockets with savings but I don't care about that.

go to the Garden and order a hot dog, a knish, and a beer... yeah, I don't care about how much Jimmy saves

come on bonn, lets not protect tyson I know you like him, but lets look at the big picture... if we can lose those deals and carmelo opts out. it gives us real options to speed up rebuilding. there is absolutely no reason to keep chandler on this team. even if all it does is save dolan money, I am fine with that, because this team team is a mess, keeping chandler doesn't make it any less of a mess. if anything it gives us options to have his deal, JR's deal and carmelo off the books..

what are you trying to accomplish? I am talking about purging this mess... then you really can start positioning yourself for the mythical 2015.. the year in which we actually have a pick..

It's not protecting Tyson. It's protecting our team's interests. I don't mind trading Chandler but you don't give up a $20 and ask for a $5 back. I'm fine with swapping him for Gasol but they've gotta give us Jordan Hill or something else to make it worthwhile. As long as we have Bargs and Amare on the books next year, we won't have cap space. If we lose Tyson and Melo opts out, it gives us no more options.
I still agree with Bonn that is not enough for Tyson. Unless the Knicks are envisioning trading Chandler and then Amar'e and Shump this deal does not make sense. Even so the Knicks hold all the cards in my opinion.
Also, what does Gasol's shot chart look like. Has it changed with MDA?

nah, no jordan hill.. I don't want anything like that back. I want to clear house.. evaluate, and see where we go from there... the projected cap for next year is 62 mil. if carmelo opts out, we lose chandler and JR's deal, we will have around 44 mil on the books, we will have cap space, but we dont' have to use it.. I just want to start the blow up process early... so if I have to give chandler away, then fine... I doubt anyone is giving us back a first round pick for chandler... if so, great, but I doubt it...

I am looking at clearing space...gasol has an expiring deal and if we can lose JR in the process.. GREAT!!!

cap space muthafucka!!!
Plus the revamp could possibly get us into the playoffs and make noise
You don't give someone a $20 and ask for a $5. They've gotta at least take Felton and give us a pick, but I think including Jordan Hill would make it more reasonable. Taking JR's $6 mil off is not that pressing.
Pay attention the the actual results. "Skill set" and a quarter will get you a gum ball.gotta love agreeing with the metricsbeast.
Yes, by all means lets put Pau next to Bargs. Then bring Stat in off the bench for Melo. Can you say sieve?
We can all hold hands and sing "Killing me Softly"
Have you guys seen or record? Don't tell me were losing cuz tyson is hurt
tkf wrote:Vmart wrote:Sign me up for the Gasol for Chandler trade.me too.. gasol would easily be the most talented player on our team.. although in decline, he still has a set of skills that no one player on our team has....
I think you've lost your mind. Dantoni doesn't even want to play Gasol. Paul is old and we're not going anywhere this year anyway, so why give up assets for him when he'll be a rental? We are far over the Cap do you really think getting rid of Chandler and JR will make a difference, what FA are you chasing in 2014? I dont even know if this move brings us under the cap at all. You keep saying picks are important but you want to trade someone with good value like Chandler for Pau Gasoft? It's hilarious to me that you of all people would bring up "skillset" as a reason to acquire him, the kind of subjective appraisal that a Melo homer would rely on.

Good value like tyson.. rofl.. ok bro... I am looking at getting rid of everyone.. but starting with tyson and JR smith is huge.. I don't care if gasol ever plays a game for the knicks honestly. his contract is huge and it expires....
Gasol is still a skilled player, but again I could care less....
what FA are you chasing in 2014?
none, I want to stop chasing free agents,if we suck then cool..we actually have our pick in 2015..
either way, we suck with chandler, suck without him,but get out from his deal asap... maybe we start blowing things up, it entices carmelo to actually leave. this is my hope..
funny you say I lost my mind yet you are talking about things that are irrelevant.. who cares if dantoni doesnt' play pau? I mentioned that pau still has some skill for those who don't want to get rid of chandler.. yea pau is old at 33 a whole two years older than the younger chandler who is 31.. smh
for the record he is playing for a coach he is not happy with yet he is still averageing 14/9/3 in 30 minutes... his FG%is down, but jeez... a lot of guys are busing a nut over bargnani and his 15/5/1 shooting 45% and playing 31 mpg...
go figure..

It's madness- it's a trade that doesn't even remotely benefit us in any conceivable way! It doesn't clear up cap space, there's no point in tanking because we don't have a pick, it's a talent downgrade and he plans on going to Memphis after this season, and Tyson has way better value than this dog s*** proposal.
IT MAKES NO DAMN SENSE! N O N E!

Gasol has been on a sharp decline for 3 or 4 years. We're still over the cap next season without Tyson- doesn't free up any worthwhile money. Tyson is valuable player- you can actually get something good for him- this trade gives you nothing back.
EnySpree wrote:Clean wrote:No way in hell I trade Tyson for Gasol. Did we already forget how much of a beast Tyson was at the start of the season. Also why are we always ready to give up to farm for expiring players? as fans we have to value our assets a little more.7pts, 10 rebs 2 blocks is hardly beasting. He got better yes but he was not beasting
And Bobcat's beat us back-back with Tyson on the floor - just saying.
Tyson giveth on defensive end and takeith away on the offensive side of the floor.
Any trade for Gasol would need to include J-Hill so we at least get some type of young big in the deal.

Trading gasol for Chandler is hardly giving the dude away.
Your comment is outdated by about four years
I meant Knicks trading Chandler for gasol is hardly giving Chandler away.....
Gasol is an upgrade to the overall skill set of the team. We suck on the board plus offense and defense. Gasol gives us that upgrade. He's an expiring too.... is a no brainer in my opinion.
Plus I think adding jr smith is an added bonus cuz Chandler/jr for gasol works. Maybe we can get a pick or a young guy too.
This should happen if it's available
Big question surrounding Pau is not really this year but what do you do next year when he is a free agent?
If you let him walk I think you are still very tight on cap and can't replace him equally. If you re-sign him long term you are attaching your championsip aspirations to a 34 year old Pau.
