Spreading the floor becomes an issue again. You have three big players Melo Tyson and Bargs no shot shumpert and Beno--that my friend is the slowest team in the nBA.

Yup. Roster is terribly put together

Allanfan20 @ 12/17/2013 10:41 PM
Our defense wasn't good when he was playing. Then again, saying our defense is gonna get better with him is also saying a Sumo wrestler will look better after losing 10 lbs.

and better offense too. People don't realize it for some reason, but 60% shooting and 4 offensive rebounds a game actually really helps on offense.

Was it an issue with Martin? I am a Tyson credit but he does help the PnR game with Melo. It also helps when one of Bargs or Melo is off the court because there will be another player to grab the boards. Recently Bargs has grabbed and tip out some orebs but just imagine if it was Tyson under the glass. Also, if he comes back not hesitating on his jumper that could help too.

His 4 field goal attempts is going to make that big a difference? I understand if he was taking double digit shot attempts. Do we need him taking more shots?

The way the Knicks are assembled--with Bargs Tyson and Carmelo--it becomes a slower lumbering team. Add in a PG who is slow and a 2G who cant shoot--I just dont think its going to work.

Somehow we need to turn Chandler into multiple young assets--we need to break his 12mm into 3-4 different contracts or draft picks. We need a strategy to improve the team for the longer term. If the Knicks want to keep Melo--they have to strategically alter their plans how to surround him.

I agree. Chandler should get traded the second he proves he's healthy. I don't think Bargs and Chandler can coexist and be productive.

Trade either, but we know there was only one team willing to give up anything for him :(

I'm fine with trading Chandler but we should be trading Melo too then.
You don't readjust your rebuilding plan for Bargnani. He's just a bench player being forced to start.
And defensive stops will speed up, not slow down, the team. We'll still be slow though.

You're still devaluing efficiency. Yes, efficient double digit scoring does help your offense. So do tons of offensive rebounds and even defensive stops.
Care to make a prediction - you, Briggs, or anyone else? We're 25th out of 30 in PPG. Based on your comments, a logical inference is that we'll be a worse offensive team with Tyson - somewhere between 26th and 30th. You want to come out and declare that officially?

SanAntonio is a slow team. no ?

The team in NY that Riley coached to the finals was a slow team too.

What we need is a coach who will generate and dictate a style of play that suits our roster .

All that pipe dream trading and gathering multiple picks ain't happening in NY and you know it.

This is why I want Lionel Hollins ans the Knicks next head coach.

I'm playa and I approve of this message !

"suit the roster" makes no sense when the roster is a mismatched, ill-fitting mess, ie "clumsy" as phil jackson put it-- "clumsy" sounds like a euphemism now, doesn't it? no coach will be able to come in here and make the kind of improvement the team needs at this juncture. this is absolutely second round annihilation time.

i do have one solution which is to commit to a pressing and trapping defense. make mass substitutions when one set of players reaches exhaustion and use the rest of the season to get into supreme condition.

this will reveal the character of the players so that the saps that make up the fan base can actually see who they are rooting for.

Tony Parker is one of the fastest quickest guards in the league and he controls their tempo. But youre right when playoff times comes they have little chance against the new champions in waiting---OKC.

When chandler comes back Knicks are going to give Woodson 3 games to win at least 2, or fire him

Unless you're whining about shooting %, and shot attempts, then you can always trust them.

I do agree with Bonny though; maybe with Tyson we win a few of these close games. We wouldn't be watching folks waltz in uncontested layups to win a game, that's for sure.
Maybe Beale would have won it at the foul line anyway, but hopefully then, Woody would have called a timeout after the second made free throw... and maybe...tkf would buy Melo stock when that pre-historic NBA cancer goes public, and maybe guns will post about how much he just loves the Knick uniform no matter who's playing for us, and maybe...

Tony Parker may be fast, but the team doesn't play fast. What they do is move the ball fast, they are still a slow team.

Nobody is expecting us to beat Miami, but we need to play the way that best suits this roster, Pat Riley showed us the blueprint.
He went from the racing up and down the court show time(Lakers) to grind it out tough, slow ya roll type( 90's Knicks) of basketball.

Fans here want a team how THEY WANT ASSEMBLED, now that where a delusional approach is discussed here on the forum. Everyone knows that's not realistic with Dolan & Isiah at the helm.

Actually, the Spurs play at the 10th fastest pace in the league, 95.1 possessions/game.
