Just imagine Bynum and MWP on the bench together.

Aliens indeed.

Now where did that Sign Royce White Now! thread go?

Hey jrod--there is something called a salary cap--we cant keep Chandler past 2015 no matter what--and why would we want to

BRIGGS, I get it, draft picks trump all. And it would heal your battered psyche to watch The Thrilling Most Excellent Adventure of JeromeEddy II meets The Fantabulous CountingMyCapSpace Wet Dream rather than this dumpster fire documentary we are "forced" to witness as Knicks fans/followers/masochists.

this is sarcasm, for those of you playing at home.

I'd still prefer Mr. Bynum and his Magic Imaginary Draft Pick goes somewhere else. Brooklyn, perhaps?

EnySpree @ 12/30/2013 2:41 PM
It's about the cap space too. What's the matter with some of you? Bynum is an expiring contact. If we do a trade like this we follow it up with another. Clean the cap for the off season that Melo is a free agent. Their In the towel and then rebuild in the off season.

Better plan than sitting on these bums because you would rather lose 2 straight years and beg Kevin love to suck us off

BigDaddyG @ 12/30/2013 5:21 PM
There's no way I Do this if I'm Cleveland. I can just let Bynum go, plug in Varejo and keep it moving. Chandler is nice, but that team is more than a Tyson Chandler away from competing.

I don't know if I agree... Derrick Rose is down and Kyrie Irving is pretty good. If I were a GM, I'd want a vet with a ring to give the younger guys direction.

How about:

Chandler
Shumpert

for

Waiters
Bennett
and a first and second rounder

If Cleveland would accept something like that you would have to take it. It is a no brainer for the Knicks. I can't see it happening though. The Knicks really need to shop him before he gets hurt again. It is inevitable. I know people respect his ring and understandably so, but his leadership is oversold IMO. As a Knick he has taken a lot of quick technicals, no showed 2 years in the playoffs and called others out when he was under producing (in the Indy series last year). Those things don't really demonstrate leadership. The longer they hold on the longer they risk having 2 monster contracts next yr for guys who can't take the floor (him and SHAT). If they can get something respectable now in a trade they should pull the trigger.

Cap space? No we won't have cap space if we do this deal. Reducing payroll is not the same as getting cap space. I'd do the deal only if it's an unprotected pick that we're getting but I don't think cleveland would

I would do it with top 7 protection---no team is trading for Chandler unprotected---top 7 protected is more than fair. We can either use Bynum or waive him and save the cash and potentially space next year.

I would probably do that deal, but Cleveland has decent center depth. What they need is consistent scoring from the wings and Shump doesn't really help them much there. We'll probably have to throw THJ's name in there just to keep the convo going. It would be JR in a perfect world, but is Cleveland willing to go through that after dealing with Bynum? We're the Knicks, not the Lakers. Teams don't bend over backward to help us.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers have had discussions on a trade that would involve Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum, league sources told ESPN.com.

No deal is believed to be imminent, but both sides are mulling it over ahead of a Jan. 7 deadline when the second half of Bynum's $12.25 million salary would be guaranteed. The Cavs suspended Bynum for one game this weekend for conduct detrimental to the team and have excused him indefinitely from all activities, including games.

By trading Gasol in a package for Bynum and then waiving him, the injury-ravaged Lakers could save more than $20 million in salaries and luxury taxes, which could help them maintain financial flexibility heading into the next few summers. A Gasol-Bynum trade would have to include at least one other player and perhaps other assets from Cleveland.

Good for the Lakers..... they are looking at this off season ever they can add a player to help them going forward.

The knicks need to be looking to do the same thing.

Nalod @ 12/31/2013 7:46 AM
Lakers can tank and benefit.

We can tank to no avail.

We need to plan to tank next season. At least its a plan!

gunsnewing @ 12/31/2013 8:39 AM
I'm all for seriously tanking next year. Draft a stud and add free agents in 2015

who knows maybe we luck out like the Spurs and others

gunsnewing @ 12/31/2013 8:42 AM
Also Lakers are smart. Knicks are too dumb to trade Tyson to clear cap space like the Lakers are doing by trading for Bynum.

We are always on the wrong side of deals

Never fails

Then what if it's a top 7 pick? We get a protected 2015 pick? We have to get something besides Bynum and irrelevant payroll deduction.
CrushAlot @ 12/31/2013 10:03 AM
Gasol for Bynum being discussed.
MS @ 12/31/2013 10:21 AM
Lakers will get him and cut him and he will sign with the heat before seasons end and win a championship like Eddy Curry. You can book it.

Great move for the Lakers if they continue to tank and secure a pick they can use the amnesty on nash and be big players in the free agent market with a high pick.

They used their amnesty on Metta. The move looks better if they didnt just reup Kobe for a huge part of their cap. I think this move helps the cavs a lot. Gasol is still really good and is a quality vet. I think you have to give a pass to all star centers that struggle with dantoni. Howard took 35 mil less to get away from him.
BRIGGS @ 12/31/2013 1:49 PM
Knicks r 2 dumb to get involved in those talks

It's either a pick or a trade able asset.sounds like there could be a possible 3 way that could net a good player
