The Knicks are even bigger fools for signing JR to 3-4yrs when they had Shumpert, Hardaway and beno

I was vehemently against resigning this loser for this very reason. Even if it was for the league minimum

Not only did we sign him but we waisted a roster spot and half a million on his loser brother

Well, we can at least trade him on Jan 15th right?
But I am not sure there would be any takers.

If he could just learn to drive more and shoot less, he would be a pretty good player. But no getting through it seems.

Why would anyone want to take on that headache. He will destroy your lockerroom for what 1 good game in 10?

The problem is this is a dysfunctional organization. It doesn't seem to bother the owner so I don't know how you change it

I mean look at the past 15yrs since Dolan took over. Anucha, Isiah, Larry brown, the players now Smith-gate

JR's contract isn't bad- it's 3 years with a player option after the second. That means next year is a contract year (he'll probably opt out after next year, unless he has a bad year), so maybe that motivates him to have a better year next season.

I don't know if Shump was ruined by the higher ups. I do worry that they rushed him back from surgery, had him only have one surgery instead of two (I believe that the better outcome is two surgeries for his injury) and that he needed another procedure over the summer. In regards to attitude issues, poor decision making, bad shot selection etc., that was all in the scouting report prior to his being drafted. He is a guy that gained a lot by having elite athleticism.

I am not saying he isn't and I am not even not saying he isn't petty. I just think that is too extreme. Lin had a part in his leaving as well. Two parties were involved in that transaction not teammates, and coaches. I think looking for reprecussions from management on teammates over a year later or even initially is wrong.

Should he be more mentally tough? Yes, but having a coach ride you like a rook non-stop, management dangle you out there w/ no actual denial and watching a character like JR Smith start over you is not going to prop up most players' games.

No, I guess I would agree with you because it is just speculation.

Based on reading all the various Knicks things, it seemed to have to do more with the SL thing. So if Dolan reacts the way he did over that minor BS, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he held a grudge toward anyone pro-Lin.

Doesn't even matter because in the end, embarrassing is embarrassing.

He just cost the knicks a draft pick and a big fine. The NBA will have no choice. Hysterical!!! But, the Knicks will be able to overpay a CAA player big money for the mid-level.

Move the team to Seattle already.

NBA won't take any action over this. 'Betrayal' is too non-specific here; could simply be read as JR feeling betrayed because they cut his brother.

Lin's third year is reportedly at $9.3M in 2014-15.
Bargnani will be making $12M in 2014-15. Does his contract have a "poison pill"? What will that cost the Knicks in luxury taxes? $50M?
Enough already. Either Lin is worth $10M next year or he isn't. These colorful little sound bites don't add anything to the conversation, and it is not Lin's contract alone that would be causing the Knicks to be over the cap. What is Amare's contract at this point? Poisonous? Nuclear? What will Carmelo's be once he re-ups?

As for J.R. feeling dismayed, let the fool opt out of the last year of his contract if he feels that way.
