Knicks · The Knicks Are Better On The Road (page 1)

7-10 is nothing to tweet about, nut it beats 4-12

1. Better bonding after a flight, overnight stay in a nice hotel and sharing breakfast at the coffee shop

2. "Us against the world." On the road you already know the crowd is against you

3. Fear of negative reaction at home, they play tight

4. Same team. Blue unis simply look better

5. Carmelo is a better player when he is the villain

Nalod @ 1/6/2014 12:01 AM
Take out the orange uni's, whats our record at home?
blkexec @ 1/6/2014 1:03 AM
Knicks have been better on the road for years. Thats the makeup of these knicks. Can't handle the NY pressure from the media and fans.
H1AND1 @ 1/6/2014 1:51 AM
6) Wifey thousand of miles away so less stressful access to groupies.
blkexec @ 1/6/2014 6:53 AM
It's also because the visiting team is hyped to play under the Broadway lights.

Far from the pressure cooker of Madison Square Garden, the Knicks proved surprisingly capable of reassembling their confidence on the road, capping their four-day swing through Texas with a 92-80 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night at American Airlines Center.

Mavs have had their own problems at home, and we got lucky with San Antonio. I think we're lucky to have won the two we did.

But, yeah, this is a team of mental midgets- they can't handle the pressure of playing at home where the expectations are they should win.

better lucky than good

playa2 @ 1/6/2014 9:15 AM
This applies to all teams when the opposing teams bring their A GAME.

I thought I shared this with you guys in last yrs playoffs ?

misterearl @ 1/6/2014 12:15 PM
Marathon

playa2 - would you consider that over 82 games it is impossible to bring an A game every night?

The difference is, and always will be, owning superior talent. Trust, the other essential ingredient, is a byproduct of collective experience.

Where the playoffs are concerned, ALL teams are compelled to bring their A games. If one team has superior (and cohesive) talent at more positions than the opponent, which teams generally wins?

Bingo.

Ok Mista, keep watching the games. Of course it's impossible to bring your A game for 82 outings.

Toronto brought their A game last night and almost beat the Heat, I watched the game while watching the Knicks.

C'mon man how the hell did the Knicks get lucky in the last 3 games? They legit earned those wins and blew the Houston game. Sure there are "lucky" wins but none of the Knicks wins on this road trip are lucky. They actually played good BB on both ends. Not perfect BB, but good BB. As much as we bash this team for their dumb BB plays, we have to also acknowledge when they play well. I don't think this has anything to do with the road. I think this team simply hasn't been focused or in synch. It looks like maybe they've found their groove from the Coach on down. If they have figured it out, this team has enough talent to win it's fair share of games.

nixluva - would you consider that (potentially) having fewer distractions on the road might lead to better focus?

The in sync part is simply better guard play. Beno is a sieve on defense but he can run an offense.

Imagine what we could do with an elite guard managing the floor.

misterearl @ 1/7/2014 10:50 AM
The Knicks' next 10 home games are against the Pistons, Heat, Suns, Clippers (without an injured Chris Paul), Nets, Sixers, Bobcats, injury-ravaged Lakers, Celtics and Cavaliers. Seven of those teams have losing records.

And if those teams bring their A game and we fumble the ball with timely turnovers or ISO BALL at the wrong time, watch how the pressure to win increases the visiting team chances to win.

Nalod @ 1/7/2014 11:24 AM
This is why teams have better home records than on the road?

Don't all home teams want to win at home? or is New York just more "special"?

Maybe when you overpay for your star player and have to fill in the roster with a quality backup point like Felton, a 54 year old rookie from argentina, give 100mil to a guy with bad knees, Your staring center has an immune deficiency, and your bench 4s are mentelly unstable (Metta) or washed up (Kmart) your in trouble. JR smith is a perfect example of having to scrape the barrel for talent.

To save face you make more instant gradification trade to support this mix by getting Bargnani who is the reincarnation of KVH. Not a bad player if you over look his salary and accept him as he is.

Knicks are playing better on the road the last few weeks and fans are cemented in that and extropolate the trend to a truth.

No, home teams have better records for a reason. If Knicks are a bad roster that is why.

Imagine that with any team.... wait maybe that is what we should have traded all our assets for instead... that is an idea.....
