Yeah, after being warned. It's ridiculous.

Are you saying he did it against the Pistons again? Or are you saying he was warned about it before he did it to Marion?

He was warned about it after he did it to Marion then did it again against the Pistons

JR disrespected Woodson during a game on the sidelines and he asked JR how he could throw him under the bus like that after all he's done for him. He's still doing it.

There was a time when JR acted like he respected Woody, but that time has long since passed and his coach should act accordingly.

Exactly right. Why it is taking so long to happen is what is mind boggling. It's gotta make the others second guess and ultimately lose respect for the Coach regardless of how well liked JR may be among teammates.

Spot on. If THJ wasn't one of the best rookies in the league right now, Woodson might be able to make a case for JR getting all those minutes. Even if THJ wasn't playing well, you aren't doing your team or your own career any favors giving JR carte blanche. He doesn't deserve it.

Maybe Woody needs to do some of this:

from JR on/off court

Knicks22 - "off the court"... would you prefer your coach to be responsible as babysitter?

From published reports, Mike Woodson has talked to JR about maturing as a man. It worked to a certain degree last season. This season, not so much. As it relates to production, the after-effects of knee surgery turned Smith into a one-trick pony on offense, where last season he got to the rack. Big difference.

to, ISO ball/

Knicks22 - Please cite who you want with the ball in their hands with under 20 seconds on the clock?

no defense.

Knicks22 - No defense is a really (cough) valid point. Given our personnel, what do you suggest?

sheesh

MrEarl:

thanks for the questions, happy to clarify my post. no, coach isn't responsible for off the court activity. individual is. i was wrong to cite off court, thanks for pushing me on it. The published reports about the great 'tough love" this coach has given are either embellished, or, they didn't work. Disagree?

As to ISO ball, given Melo is 1-20 in late and close, no, Melo not my choice. Real point of ISO ball of course is style of play - no pass, dribble to late in shot clock, no play, have someone go one on one. That's not a situation for these Knicks, that is their style of play. I believe its less productive, you may think differently.

Defense:
Woodson was the D coach under MDA. Team played no D then, and, dont' do too much now. Not alot of great defenders on team, but dont' believe roster is excuse for long periods of game where little effort is apparen.

1) I would have done that too.

2) Link is fixed.

3) How does the league not suspend him for a game for this?

Knicks22 - agree. In retrospect, Mike Woodson seems like a miracle worker for squeezing a Sixth Man Award out of JR. After the ink dried on the contract, and the post op drugs kicked in, (Or wore off) the whole affair is a mess. Woodson only has minutes as incentive. Steve Mills needs to make a change so THJr can grow.

Like you, I despise isolation play. Never liked it. Why can't we run? Our guards are either too slow
Or too limited. I am a fan of the fast break. Show time on Broadawy.

Not slow time.

It's like anything else. There is a time and a place for it. For example, if Ray can't do anything right and guys aren't hitting shots, Melo had to take over until they get their asses into gear. The thing that sucks is if the ball has been moving all day and guys are hitting shots but you stop that with the isos, we are f'ed.

Good Point. That was Felton's best game since last year when he put up close to 30 against the heat

When the Garden turns negative on a player it is not pretty. People groaned whenever Oak raised up for a jumper. Sometimes he proved them wrong. Rest of the time he made up for it in relentless effort.

JRSmith does not have Oakley's equity.

What happens when he misses his next shot or goes 3-13?

Finestrg @ 1/10/2014 11:07 AM
You guys read this article yet? Yikes...

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/knicks-benc...

I'm tellin' ya, whatever trade we can get for this guy -- if it's Gary Neal, OK fine. If it's for a 2nd rounder and a bag of dirt, fine. I want him gone...Outta here, Jack..I'm done with this guy. Never been done with any professional player on one of my teams more than JR Smith. We need to move on from this ass clown.

"Perhaps his greatest excess of idiocy had been a weekend of running a room service bill into the proximity of $3,000, a source with direct knowledge told Yahoo Sports. (JR) kept ordering food, stacking piles of trays upon trays – "just to see if they would keep bringing it to the room," the source said.

All uneaten, all on the franchise's tab – all a window into a fool."

Why were the fans booing him before the shoe lace incident? I was always confused by that. He wasn't the only one shooting a crappy percentage at that time.
misterearl @ 1/10/2014 1:25 PM
TeamBall - fans don't care about shooting percentages, it is about like-ability.

Spree was not loved for his shooting percentage. It was his fire.

Same with Starks. New Yorkers want to identify with a trait they recognize. Be it good looks or diving in the stands after a loose ball.

It is Broadway.

MS @ 1/10/2014 1:45 PM
Very good article. As usual the Knicks did there do diligence. One year deals are the only option for guys like this. Typical NY Knicks signing a dumb pay check player with no heart, 10 years and counting

Playing the victim after the game. Nothing we can do again. He acted like the asshole that he has always been on the bench last night. Instead of taking responsibility he simply said he wasn't told about his benching.

No more assets for to rid ourself of stupidity.

True....It could also be everything thats right.....Depending on who's point of view.

There are plenty of JR's out there thinking his behavior is normal.....You can either go the corporate route, and act like someone else, and get paid like the average citizen. Or make mega millions and act like your normal self!
