post game soundbite of Chandler saying "out schemed"....
Very flawed roster, so coach not the only, or even, primary problem. No fan of his, but, deciding on Melo (and him deciding on team) much more critical issue than coach.
So Woody has lost:
Tyson
Beno
Melo (he's polite about it but he's called him out twice)
Bargs
Shump
JR
Prigs
MWP
Amare is neutral at best, the rooks don't count.
Only two who seem to support him are K-Mart and Felton.
But to be fair, as bad as Woody has been, the players have been worse

I don't. I do miss grunwald. Agree abiut woodson but it is a lot easier to coach if the gm has your back.
The moment Dolan sacked Grunwald, Mike Woodson was put on skates.
The Knicks instability, and poor leadership, starts with ownership.
Who Got Next?
If Steve Mills makes a recommendation to James Dolan, who comes in and fixes the Knicks?
Does he walk on water?
Yea I thought it was funny how Kidd a rookie coach had no problem easing his best player dwill back into the lineup yet Woodson, the father figure, starts a 37yr old Prigioni in his first game back after what over 2months? Same with Tyson
The guy is bonehead just like his team. Perfect match. At least they are an entertaining side show this year. Love the post game comments and beno wanting out LOLLLLLL

Don't forget he had Felton play 44 minutes on a the start of a back to back in just his 2nd game
Miss Grunwald? He's the guy that built this roster.
What about accountability? What about the players being accountable?
Y'all are influenced today by Doris Burke comparing the lack of spirit from the knicks and how the season is now gone! Did she try to tie in MLK and knicks lack of fight? I don't remember but she seemed to be pretty full of herself last nite.
I think Melo is also lowering his free agent status as well with his game. This guy eats coach's and will eat a team's cap. Nike has built a whole program around this guy and its been more visible this year. Changing teams will lower his brand. MSG will see to it.
"Melo" is becoming he symbol of egocentric me first player who is more flash then substance. While he is checked out, have we ever seen him lead and call out his mates? Think of Lebron and Michael getting on his players to execute!
Maybe Woodson has pushed this team as far as it could go last year and this year they are pushing back. I doubt Woodson was ever in anyones long term plans because I don't think this team makes them. If not, then I'd say replace him but I don't see how that really changes things.
If its about this season and Woodson is gone then its just a matter of time.
If melo walks and JR smith is your 1st option what do you look for in a coach? A man that wants to get paid is not a shameful quality but what are we looking for? Hope of a young guy becoming a long term icon? A starphuch "Calipari" who is charismatic to keep us enthralled for two years while we suffer a rebuild?
Dig the new boss......same as the old boss
Best Descrption of Nets game
Carmelo Anthony battled for 27 points, but nobody else did a goddamn thing. Everyone who shot with any regularity shot poorly, including Iman Shumpert (trying to be aggressive, but really just forcing stuff), J.R. Smith (just miserable shot selection), Andrea Bargnani (missing open shots), and Raymond Felton, whose parade of air-balled layups (yes, plural), rim-slamming jumpers, and was-that-a-pass-or-a-shot floaters bordered on performance art.

The players are jumping ship. Its time for him to go. Then you unload the players. This team needs a complete overhaul.....again.
They need a GM to come in here with ZERO interference from Dolan. Somebody who can build a team. Yes, I am joking, that will never happen...Dolan you are an idiot, get your fingers out of the pie!
I would hold on to:
Hardaway
Murry
Tyler
Shumpert
Everyone else needs to go.
Not that the Knicks will do this but.......
You start a rebuild (or at the very least.....significant roster changes) by replacing the coach now. The new coach can then be part of the evaluation of who to unload and who to bring in over the remainder of this season and in to the offseason. There is no point in retaining Woodson if he is not in the plans after this season.

Sounds great on paper but who do you hire? By that, do you get a coach with a system and then get players to match?
And who mid season is available to hire that is a systems guy? Young assistants who might be attractive are not leaving mid season. College coach's are also working.
Reality is you let Herb finish the year then hire your staff.
that does not do what you say. Also, Smith, Bargs, Iman are not that marketable so whats to evaluate?
Lionel Holllins is available.... if they get him or whoever, they need to dedicate building around this Foundation. We stay from scratch and we build around the youth.
Knicks actually need to commit to a young coach. It's the trend now but it seems like that's the only way to get away from this old school bullshit we been dealing with
Back to the bad old days. Watching the game yesterday felt just like the pre Patrick era.
Scott Skiles is the guy I want to see -
Firing the coach is a cop out. It changes nothing about fixing the roster.
When Chris Smith feels entitled to comment on Beno, and throws in insults, things are way deeper than the coach.
Fire the players who are responsible for sub par play on the court.
You gotta fire the bum at this point. Team is lost with no chance of finding land again.
Doesn't matter who the new coach is, teams always enjoy a spurt of good play after a firing and tossing Woodson to the curb could be the thing that will get us in the playoffs this year.
Roster sucks, yea, but you have Melo and a bunch of serviceable players in the other spots. No way this team should be 2 games behind the Bobcats for 8th seed.
No reason this team shouldn't be .500 right now.
