Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Bennett has Asthma
He will be out of the league in 2yrs
Maybe playing next to mike sweetney in Greece
The asthma doesn't mean anything, Roy Hibbert has asthma and that hasn't stopped him.
Doesn't Trevor Ariza have Asthma.
Most were surprised that he went #1.

Picking Oladipo would have given Kyrie Irving a reason to leave after rookie contract, and Cleveland had a proven pg already on board.
The politics of the NBA...it never ends.
The Magic is the only team who doesn't know Oladipo isn't a point guard. Drafting Dip wouldn't have any said more about what the Cavs thought about Dion Waiters than Kyrie.

It was a bad draft and 41 games in does not make a career.
Im sure Cav's are disappointed but in every draft there are winners and losers. Sometimes it takes 3 years to sort out how a draft went.
Kendall Gill was the Hornets 3, no?
Gill was there two-guard. They had a bunch of scrubs at small forward, including Scotty Burrell and Johnny Newman. I was referring to LJs transition to three with the Knicks in my earlier post.
I would have drafted Oladipo. He was my number one pick. A backcourt of Irving/Oladipo would have been sick. I don't get this pick in large part because of the health issues. Don't believe Bennett was so good that those issues could be overlooked.
Bennett was a project from day one. Cavs should have picked someone who was ready to contribute sooner. Westbrook/Rose you never know how long an elite PG will last these days.

I thought that David Wingate was their 2.

Just checked, David Wingate and Johnny Newman were the small forwards. Burell came after Gill left.
Eh, it's karmic retribution for that inane BroDown that the Cav's delegation to the lottery selection performed when they landed the pick. Remember there was some kid with suspenders who looks like the character in Home Alone who drinks too much Pepsi and wets the bed, some self proclaimed GOAT rapper from Cleveland who weighed 80 pounds soaking wet, and a bunch of bro-dude executives acting like they were on a boat in Lake Havasu all going wild doing this awful celebration spectacle like a bunch of middle school kids hopped up on Jolt Cola.
Woohoo! Anthony Bennett. Yeah.

I think the kid you were describing is Dan Gilbert's kid who has some kind of disease. I don't know about the kid but Dan Gilbert is a certified douchebag in every respect. I heard the guy profited big-time of selling sub-prime loans, which would make him the scum of the earth in my book.

Oh, well, my bad then I certainly didn't want to bust on some kid who is suffering.
Gilbert made his scratch on Quicken Loans, not subprime. Thats not to say they relaxed underwriting requirements like most banks did back in the day. The poster children for subprime was wall street banks who bundled the bonds together and the idiot rating services that went along with assigning a higher rating than deserved. Also to blame is the idiot buyers who thought those high interest rates don't come with risks.
Gilber made his reputation after feeling jolted and foolish for enabling Lebron to run his franchise, then thinking or gotten bad advice that he would stay. They took a stand.
His one page rant in the newspaper to blast Lebron was his way of deflecting the fact that he screwed up, but that Lebron was a douche as well.
His kid when little was on the podium when they got Kyrie so they parade him out there again for good luck. He has some bad health problems so it was a nice story about an billionaires ill son who was able to contribute to something. When they got
Certified D-bag in every respect? IM not sure I'd go there unless you did some reading up on him.
Im curious why bennet's condition was not a problem in college? Its obvious they did not need to draft a guard. They went with need and they tried to trade the pick with little success. The draft sucked.
Hindsight is easy.

Can't agree with that one. They definitely need a two-guard and they may need a point guard as well if any of those Net rumors are true. Bennett was a beast at UNLV. The shoulder problems hampered his off-season conditioning and then the Cavs tried to make him a small forward, which probably required a level of conditioning he is not used to.
JesseDark wrote:Number 1 overall pick from last
Bennett has been a DNP-CD in four straight games. The No. 1 pick in last year's draft is averaging 2.4 points on 26.9 percent shooting this season.
Via Mary Schmitt Boyer/Cleveland Plain DealerIs this a cautionary tale for the rebuild through the draft or did Cleveland just screw it up?
Was the Greg Oden situation a sign that Portland shouldn't rebuild through the draft?
It's a bad mistake to think any strategy will work 100% of the time though.
Portland wiffed with Sam Bowie instead of taking Jordan (they had clyde the glide) but still made the finals in time.
Portland wiffed taking Larue Martin No. 1 and 5 years later took Bill Walton, and in 77' won a chip.
SAS kept Duncan relevant for years by rebuilding thru the draft MOST
One thing we know, most starphuchs don't work. Boston got a chip with Garnet and Ray but most of the time not.
If Detroit drafted Melo over Darko they might not have gone into such a bad decline.
Remember when Larry Brown was slammed for ruining Darko? Larry was right. The kid didn't want to play.

This isn't the original article I read but there are several articles online about QuickenLoans/Dan Gilbert and how they made their bones off of predatory lending. I got no way to criticize the sources but I doubt a man of Gilbert's means would allow for people to write slander about him/his company unless it were actually true.

That is the definition of "preditory lending". Many institution have paid hundreds of millions in penaties.
I in now way defended him as being a great guy. He is kind of slimy but not distinguised by any more slime than many of his co-owners.
Lol @ "predatory lending",
what about "idiotary taking on loans" you can't reasonably repay
IronWillGiroud wrote:Lol @ "predatory lending",what about "idiotary taking on loans" you can't reasonably repay
It wasn't an either/or thing. There were definitely predatory loan practices and there were definitely idiots taking on dumb loans. In fact, one begets the other and vice versa. Of course, if you're trying to push a political agenda you choose one and and run with it as the only possible cause for a giant worldwide near economic depression. Which is kinda like saying a butterfly farting in the amazon caused the Japanese tsunami. Of course, actual nuanced explanations have no place in political discourse these days.

Yeah because every American has a B.A. in economics, as well as a J.D. and can understand the extensive fine print included in those contracts. I don't understand why people like you choose to defend the men of excess that screw people over. Those guys get richer, while we all get screwed. I'm not sure that is a culture to endorse.

yea because i need a an advanced degree from harvard to understand that my monthly income can't cover my $3000 mortgage on a $200000 house?

You do realize that it's a proven fact that _some_ of the fly by night lenders and even some huge banks straight up LIED and used blatant trickery about the terms when giving out and underwriting loans? They've even been fined and happily paid their fines since they made so much money the fines were a drop in the bucket.
And before you accuse me of being some lib-tard read my post above where I state that another facet of the problem was indubitably idiots taking out dumb loans and overleveraging their assets. But then again that isn't so simple either because a lot of people who refinanced during the bubble did so believing their property was worth way more than it actually was. So all the shenanigans inflated values and a lot of people who intially took out reasonable and proper loans years before got screwed as well.
Nothing is black and white.
