You don't get bird rights until the 3rd year though

Showing range on his shot tonight was a big surprise. Also, like every other big on the Knicks he plays well alongside KMart. If the Knicks revisit the big line up the other big needs to be KMart or possibly Amare.

I don't get why they're not putting team options on the contracts like the Rockets did with Beverly. It can't be the case that all these guys - Copeland, Murry, Tyler - are rejecting that.

Lack of forsight, tunnel vision and complete incompetence

Its given that we resign this kid. The knicks can't play the copeland game. Hes 22 years old and looks to be the answer to our power fwd problem. He's not a rookie. His time is now. It's his turn
gunsnewing @ 1/29/2014 9:06 AM
If Melo signs for $30 we won't be able to afford him
gunsnewing @ 1/29/2014 9:08 AM
On to the next Knicks under the radar gem for 1 yr

Oh wait we fired Grunwald

Rookie @ 1/29/2014 9:26 AM
If some team decides he's worth 3.5-4M per, he's gone just like Copeland. This kid at 22 already has a well rounded game and the right attitude. Unlike Copeland who was already 28 and couldn't play D. I liked Cope, but I think Tyler is a better prospect and have been rooting for him since Summer league. He and THJ are the few bright spots on this team. Unfortunately, some team is going to steal him as a FA. To bad, he looks like a keeper and I am glad that he has finally figured it out. Welcome to the NBA Jeremy Tyler

Love what I've seen from Tyler so far. You think he keeps playing some rotation minutes or is he back to DNP-CD when Amare and Bargs comes back?
fitzfarm @ 1/29/2014 10:56 AM
We'll have to see.. I think the Knicks keep him even at 3 or 4 mil... Copeland was 28 and you knew what he's going to give you.. This man is 22 center/pf with crazy potential.. If this man went to college instead of going to play pro ball as a can't miss prospect in Europe/Asia as a junior in high school... We would be talking about a top five/ ten lottery pick.. He had offers from duke,Kentucky, north Carolina, and many more... He's a big boy with great range, nice smooth j, crashes the boards, finishes around the rim,can block some shots with that huge wingspan, also a athletic freak.. Bet you he dominates in practice. Sky is the limit for this kid, and at 22 he's only gonna get a lot better with more playing time.. I don't see the Knicks just letting this kid walk away for 4 mill

Tyler did have the team option for year2 prior to being waived when he hurt his foot. His knee deal is for 1 yr.

His current deal on the Knicks is 1 year? That's what I thought but hoopshype doesn't say
Or do you mean he bought a knee that he has to return in a year?

I don't believe the structure of his new deal has been released yet. I doubt they would put 2 years on his first one and leave off it on his new contract. Although, I would have thought they would have tried to put a 2 year option on Tour'e too.

The kid looked like a starter in that Boston game. Knicks gotta keep him involved. Im signing this kid up to be our staying power fwd next year.

cmon dude.. even if he got max he can get it would $30 over the last year only.

The Knicks are so stupid. They are the worst talent evaluators. They should have looked at him during summer league, saw the physical tools and offered him a late first round type contract. First two guarenteed with years 3 and 4 being team options. No way turns down $4mm over 3 years with more than half guarenteed. That also would have given the Knicks options if/when they look to use cap space when Chandler/Bargs/Amare come off the books.

But noooooo lets just wait until he's good and lose him to some team for money we dont want to match. dumbest org in all sports, I honestly think so

If we don't trade Bargs or Amare or Kmart and these guys stay healthy he rides the pine, it's the entertainment plan of the Knicks. Only big money and former #1 overall picks allowed.

When the knicks are really trying to win foreal, they will make moves to please the fan base.

fishmike @ 1/29/2014 4:07 PM
paying what is essentially double the minimum is a great risk to take on a guy whos 22, goes 250lbs with a 7'5 wingspan (one of the biggest in the NBA).

How is this different than what we did with Mosgov? A guy who was regarded as a nice piece... IDIOTS

it's business as usual. remember, they could have signed Lin for part or the full MLE before that stupid hearing for Lin and Novak contract.

It looks like Tyler does have a two year deal.

That's great. Do you know if it was updated when he was resigned? I know I read somewhere that his deal is for one year. I just checked trade checker and they have him on a one year deal. I am hoping you are right.

If you down the page to the right they have a transaction update so it looks like it is updated. A poster on KB said that is more reliable than Hoopshype but who knows.

Awesome. Thanks for posting it. I thought Mills dropped the ball there.

I just wished Murry had that deal. I am not as big on Murry as others but still he was young and just wanted a crack in the league so he was probably willing to sign a deal like that.
