Knicks · ANy word on Bargnani? (page 1)

I just havent heard anything about his injury status. The silence makes me think the worst (that hes out for the year). i wasnt his biggest fan, but he could be a great asset off the bench
CrushAlot @ 2/2/2014 3:09 PM
His ligament was completely torn. He said he doesn't know when he will be back.

Is that the worst? I mean, he's a human and I don't want him to be hurt, but I'd like him to take a year and a half to rest and recover!

CrushAlot @ 2/2/2014 3:47 PM
If he is declared out for the remainder of the year I wonder if the Knicks could get a disabled player exception to add someone like the Nets did with Bropez.

Not to be a dick but it certainly isn't the worst when it comes to the Knicks winning games. Bargnani is an awful basketball player, possibly the worst rotation player in the league, and him being out for the season only improves our chances of winning and making the playoffs. Of course, that decreases the chances that Woodson will be fired and that we'd blow this team up to try and build an actual contender so maybe it is the worst.

yellowboy90 @ 2/2/2014 4:19 PM
they need to find out quick before the trade deadline. This would give them the ability to take in a contract without having to give a bad one away(Felton).
smackeddog @ 2/2/2014 4:41 PM
They try rehab for a month or two, if that doesn't work he has surgery and will be out a whole year.
H1AND1 @ 2/2/2014 4:52 PM
Bargs sucks. It pains me to watch him play his brand of passion-less basketball and the team plays better without him. He should def take his time rehabbing this injury!

The cutoff was jan 15th....he got hurt a week later.

Bargs is a good player. He just sucks on help defense. Post defense he is really good and can still stretch the floor. We need him.
tj23 @ 2/2/2014 9:08 PM
I thought he'd be a good addition but nah. He's too big of a bonehead on offense and his defense is even more embarrassing. I don't care that he can defend in the post. His help d is non existent. Stretch the floor? He's shooting probably 30% from 3. Line drive bricks! He gets to the rim well but throws up the worst shot attempts. We are simply better without him. He's a liability on both ends.

Exactly what is he good at?

Good at helping teams be bad. Worst trade of the season by far...probably of any sport.
callmened @ 2/3/2014 2:16 AM
my bad..when i said "worst" i meant from the Bargnani-hes-still-a-human-being point of view..just hope the big fella is ok

Exactly- he does nothing good enough to cancel out his huge flaws. His man to man defense in the post is okay. He can drive to the basket okay. His outside shooting is poor to average. His mid range shooting is poor to average. There are many other players that can match that at a fraction of the cost and who play with more passion.

yellowboy90 @ 2/3/2014 8:04 AM
I will say this about Bargs: He was getting better every month in defensive rtg. He just lost the ability to shoot 3s and that decreases everything about him as a player. If he was shooting 37% from 3 and improving on D he would have worked out well.

Those talking badly about Bargs sound like retreads from some article they read while he was in Toronto.

The dude is not completely horrible. He was the reason we beat miami the first time and he was pretty effective before he got hurt. Stop pretending like he hasn't played a game for us. We've had plenty of time to realize the dudes worth. He's not a horrible player. He is a legit nba starter and we could use him.

knicks1248 @ 2/3/2014 8:46 AM
Just too inconsistent for me, we should have like a utility player, special duties, special match ups. I doubt he will be out the whole yr...

not horrible at all BUT he is a disappointment considering he was a number 1 pick. Also we gave up more than we had to which always aggravates me

knicks didnt give up what you normally give up for a first overall pick. Also, bargs played great in the first Indy game against Hibbert and had a great game against Howard the first time the Knicks played the rockets. Both of those games should have been wins.

all this hate on Bargs reminds me of the hate KT faced during his first stint with us - that getting rid of him would be addition by subtraction.

I think Bargs biggest problem isn't skill or ability- its the ability of the coach to actually fit him in. Chandler and Bargs should never have been on the floor together - Bargs is best suited to being a 5.

I think his overall defense has been ok- and as far as his help defense - he isn't alone in performing poorly in that dept this year with us.
