Nothing other than a completely new, improved philosophy and a lot of patience will turn this around. Dolan's "short-cuts" actually don't save time.

Briggs I dont disagree with any of your thoughts. You remember I originally hated the Melo trade because I really liked that team and having our picks and cap space. That situation is gone. There isnt a FA class like that again. Its like who? Rondo and Kevin Love whos going to the Lakers.

Also I will bring up a prior arguement against a rebuild. That is so hard accuratly evalute talent in a losing environment. David Lee is the perfect example. My god look at his last season here.. 20ppg 12rebs and he shoots 55%, and people here were DYING to get rid of his no defense stat padding ass for a REAL winning talent. Hows that look now?

Briggs if it was Walsh I would be open. Not that he's perfect but he was capable of sticking to a plan ad building something. What do you think Mills can accomplish here after Melo walks?

Im not saying Im right and your wrong... save that for the guys I have on ignore. I just dont see it man. Its most likely that Dolan pays Melo and rides him into the ground, and I think its mostly because he knows on some level he needs Melo to save him from himself. So long as Melo fails Dolan tried. If Melo walks... I dont think Dolan will let that happen.

Who? Adding one top player is going to turn this .350 team into a title contender? Only if it's Lebron or Durant. Otherwise, what you're saying is absurd.

If you're just talking about a guy who's top 20 like Kevin Love, adding him will only push us from .350 to maybe .500 or .550. Look at how the Spurs have hall-of-famers and several additional very good players. If we're not going to have either Lebron or Durant, we're going to need at least 3 top 20 players and then 5 very good role players. We've got 1 out of those 8 (1 top 20) accomplished. Adding another top 20 player, still leaves us 6 players short of what we need.

Even then, so we have 2 top 20 players and 13 NBDL players. Maybe you get a couple of decent role players along the way but you're still well short of what you need. Unless we're adding Lebron or Durant, it's going to take years to build the kind of roster we need. You think the Spurs could have added Kawhi, Tiago, Bellineli, Diaw, and Green all in one offseason? Not even if they had picks and cap space.

Thats why the Bargs deal made no sense. He didnt fit and it cost us 3 picks including a 1st and Toronto basically couldnt even give him away to another tema even for another bad contract

Melo has to stay it's the only Broadway show piece he has to justify the Garden prices for tickets.

If Melo leaves for less money (which I doubt) I would respect him as a ball player who wants to win something and not just take home the biggest check on the team.

If he stays and takes a max contract then it's all about the money for him because we will just keep losing with no ability to fill out the roster.

The salary cap has killed NYK basketball (along with bad management). Nobody wants to play here so you have to overpay. When you overpay you can't fill out the roster with talent and since our management gives away draft picks like they are going out of style, we can't draft enough talent to help.

Even if we had picks it would take years and a commitment to develop the players we draft. Melo does not have a big window to win, he is getting older and will reach Amare/H20 status before his next contract is over.

If Melo is not trade away by the deadline then I want him to leave for free agency so that Dolan can feel our pain.
