Why would Love or Aldrich sign here for so little? Factoring taxes your talking about them only being offered in the range of 13 mil or less from many other teams in the league for them to consider coming here. I don't really see how in the world that would happen.
Factoring in federal taxes and agent fees, I would imagine that the figure would be close to halved.
that is true for all players not playing in Florida and Texas, there are other business opportunities playing in NYK including endorsements
Aldridge is overrated and doesn't like to play the 5

New York also has a city tax that comes out to about 12% tax on income that states don't have. It is why LBJ can take less than melo in Miami and still net more.

Why? Love and Melo do the same things.
Kevin Love wouldn't be taking a pay cut 17 million is the max he can earn outside Minny/S&T.

Or you can say they do everything...They both can play inside out..They can't be doubled..Think of one guy hitting the boards when the other is at the three point line and visa versa..Melo has more game going to the rack and well as posting at the elbow..Now add a PG like Lowry who can hit the three and dish...Can't double Melo or Love..I'm dreaming ..

Overrated? Not so sure. He's definitely one of the best big man mid-range shooters in the NBA. And he pulls down what, 9-10 boards on average a game? Sure you may not win a chip w/ him as your number 1 but Portland is humming along right now with him, Lillard, and Batum putting up an offense that is at the top of the league. Plus, you never really hear anybody talking about him, if anything he is underrated as he never really gets any accolades and has quietly
had a nice career. To me that's not my definition of overrated. He's pretty solid IMO.
RonRon: What is it about Rudy Gay that you like? I always see you posting hypotheticals where the NYK sign him. He's a pretty incorrigible gunner who is not a great shooter, a bad combo especially at his pay rate. Anyway, just curious what you see in him.

They do everything? Think there are two major facets of the game: ASSISTS and DEFENSE you're forgetting about. Neither can penetrate interior defenses consistently either. Melo needs a great point guard first and foremost in my opinion, not another power forward.

NY "Fans" always seem to forget this part.
Love Aldrich but dude is overrated. K.Love is the way to go but the first target is a POINT GUARD! Don't know who or how but that should be the Knicks priority.
That and a real coach.

Melo needs a PG??????..The rest of the team needs a PG..An Amare type player needs a PG, Karl Malone type player as well...Chandler needs a PG...Melo led the league in score with Raymond Felton as PG...Melo does not need a PG...Melo is a classic isolation player...And what does neither can penetrate defenses consistently mean??..Get to the rim??..Melo can blow by you if you are too big or power you down low if you are too small..I'm not sure I follow your assessment on these two players...The reason you need a good PG is to keep the rest of the team involved and to get other players going..Melo doesn't need a PG to get him going...
Melo needs a pg to offset his low ast numbers is what people mean not melo needs a pg to score. A The pg will need the ability to shoot the 3 at a high % though.
Also anyone know Melo Iso numbers this year compared to last year?

Yeah, to get the rest of the team involved as I have stated...Lowry would be perfect but I'm really not sure about him as a person, seems to have issues everywhere he goes...

Rudy Gay is a cancer. Why do you like him so much? And why do you think Tim Duncan would sign here? He's given no indication that he wants to leave SA and I doubt the prospects of playing with Kevin Love and a chuck like Rudy Gay will change that.
Yeah, I wouldn't want Gay for more than the vet min!

He is comparable to the potential of a younger JR SMITH but at the SG/SF, SF, SF/PF, he has great upside
Can he become the next Beasley, it is a possibility, but he also has the ability to bounce back
Because of his potential and his physical abilities, in addition to the salary cap, we need to take chances on players and I think he can bounce back if surrounded with the right players/coaches/system

I think Gay would sign for a lot more than that. Also, by all accounts Sacramento really likes him. D'Alessandro really likes him and wanted to pair him with Cousins. They may have something in Sacramento. Not sure that Gay leaves. He definitely isn't going to be available for the vet mini or anything close to that.

why would anyone want a Beasley? Also, Gay has ever showed half the potential of JR as a shooter and passer but he is the better defender.
