Knicks · As per Berman "Melo expects to be consulted on any trades" (page 1)

fishmike @ 2/18/2014 5:27 PM
There you go! Now we can blame him for including any picks
Vmart @ 2/18/2014 5:37 PM
I think we all know right now Melo calls the shots. He is the GM of the team as of now. Mills is sleeping at the wheel and everyone else in the organization is afraid to make a move.
StarksEwing1 @ 2/18/2014 5:55 PM
Nothing earth shattering. I think he wanted Bargnani and we know how that worked out
Clean @ 2/18/2014 5:56 PM
If I was going to accept a much smaller than max contract I would also want input on trades.
gunsnewing @ 2/18/2014 6:10 PM
Melo is not qualified. He can barely express himself verbally. He's not Lebron Wade or bosh
joec32033 @ 2/18/2014 6:11 PM
Screw that. You want a say in trades? Sign an extension or kick rocks.

I still dont buy that he is gonna accept a smaller contract otherwise he could ahve done that when he first came to the knicks
Knicks22 @ 2/18/2014 6:57 PM

I certainly hope they consult him. Be nice to know upfront from him which players/coaches he will, or will not (Amare, MDA, Lin) agree to work with

Get wit da program. Melo is the man so get it in your head. And if you don't like it ain't a damn thing you can do about it. So that talk about him not being able to express himself verbally don't mean a thing. His pockets are deep with more money you will see in a life time unless you hit the lottery.

Melo is the man? Of what 1st Round exits

When Melo 1st came to the knicks for him it was about the glamor, the hype, the money.

Now the window is closing he still wants to get the glamor and hype in pursuit of a championship,

WE SHALL SEE!

So did they ask Melo if he's maybe rethought his stand on potentially playing with Jeremy?

Im a big Knicks fans but teh chances of the Knicks getting anywhere near a title with melo are kind of slim. Thats not a jab at melo its just that we have guven away too many assets/picks. I mean unless we get incredibly lucky and get the top 2/3 FA in 2015 but i dont see it

Texas and Florida all have much less tax and will have the ability to offer Melo a decent contract
Any one of these teams offer's Melo a much better chance in competing for a title next season, especially if Melo is really willing to take "less"

SA (with Tim Duncan's opt out or/and retire, could also opt out for a bigger paycut for a last chance to add to his career)

Mavericks (Dirk is a UFA with a few others, and they about 26m in committed salaries)

Houston (all depending on if they can move Lin and Asik for expirings, could have 40m in salaries if they do move them)

Heat (if Lebron, Bosh, Wade all opt out, they can recruit and take less, adding their buddy Melo to climb Mount Rushmore and Jordan's 5 beat's 1 comments)

Orlando has many young players and only 35m in contracts this summer

It would be funny/typical/sad/ironic (pick any one) if the Knicks traded for Asik and Lin then HOU swooped in in the of rason and signed away Melo with their newfound cap space.

Believe it.
fitzfarm @ 2/18/2014 10:46 PM
it would be awesome to get lin back. imagine the reception Lin would get from the garden that would be awesome plus he is a great player. lin, thjr, melo, amare, tyler = awesome
gunsnewing @ 2/18/2014 11:02 PM
Linsanity saves the season v2.0

stop talking like a 7year old please, it is annoying

RonRon @ 2/19/2014 8:49 AM
Btw, i was reffering to baby-bear, talk like a baby and i will treat u like one

Stop talking like u know what Melo will do because winning is his #1 priority and we will have the same roster we had this year + MLE (5m if Melo walks and 3m if he stays)

Add Melo on to any of those teams with less tax listed above and their roster is at least 3x better than him staying on the Knick
Look at those rosters, whether with young talent, future assets, solid role players and stars, DEF or OFF, they are all better than our roster

Only way we can build a contending team witn Melo is if he takes less in 2015 while recruiting stars to play with us
This would make sense if he doesnt opt out since his salary is over 23m next season however he has stated multiple times that he in fact will opt out

With that said, he will walk if being a contender is more important than the extra year and money
I beleive he already has a sense of idea where he wants to go already
He doesnt want to be traded at this point because he doesnt want to find a place to live etc, for a rental
CA has learned that he needs much talent around him in order to be a contender both with STARs and role players
He has learned his chances of winning a ring is increased if he signs with a team like D12 and The Heat (they were traded in the end but for much under their value as the Heat had the cap room to sign them
However this would ALL be at the expense if NYK

This horrible weather this winter in NYK with our losing season surely would effect his decision with FA

Our best option at this point is to send him out West to a team with the All Stars that can convince him to stay, with the assets and salary to trade for him preferably takig Felton with him

That team would be the Rockets who has plenty of draft picks to offer us and

Beverely
Harden
Parsons
Melo
D12

Terrence Jones
D Montouise
MLE
Some solid
Vet mins and development players with Robert Covington and Isiah
Cannon
Many draft picks including some this year on this deep draft

Take back Lin, Asik, draft picks

Move Chandler or/and AB, Felton(with Melo) MWP and Pablo to OKC for Perkins and picks

Trade Udrih, Cole Alrich, Kmart (who could possibly land us a late 2nd rounder)

See what Tyler and Murry, would do with minutes

Tank for next season for a top 5 pick and preseve cap room, setting a plan for 2015 UFA's

This summer, also utlize the MLE with talent to fill one of our holes that could be used for after 2015, also look to fill our roster with continue development player like Patty Mills, Jamrs Johnson

Most importantly change our entire coaching staff and management President of Operations/GM to attract players to want to come to NYK

Dolan must stay our of decision making in order to do attract ALl STARS
However, he should utilize his money, power, networks, MSG channel, and business oppurtunities for future players to come and take less
Look at making a reality TV show for MSG channel, with other shows...

1 1/2 years is nothing and i truly believe we can become
Championship contendere if we followed the above
I have plans on how to execute this if Dolan would hear my plan out...

However we only have about 48 hours left to do so...
