if you do this would you then use THjr in a trade for Lowry? Keep Shump, add Jimmer, use THjr and parts to get Lowry. Move JR to the SL and bring Jimmer off the bench
No way I trade Hardaway for Lowry. I'd keep THJ this guy is will be one of the best three point shooters of all time by the time he is finished playing the game. His game will expand over time. I'm not sold on Lowry beside his new contract is almost guaranteed to never match his production. From this year.
he's a shooter... we can one anywhere... draft or dleague or FA

absolutely down withat scenario, i think toronto might just bite too..
No way to trading Tim. He is 1 or two summers away from becoming a Ray Allen type player. He just needs to put in work in the offseason.
Or Shump type. Never know.
He won't be a Shump type. He already has more game than Shump.

I'd consider that if Melo had an extension in place... the only young asset that the Knicks have and will have next year would be THJ. I'm not about to proclaim that he's a lock to be a 10 time all star but giving him up for another guy w/o a contract makes me uneasy
I will say that
Lowry
Jimmer
JR
Melo
Chandler
actually sounds like an NBA team
YOu putting Jimmer at the 2?
If you make the move that fish suggested, I have no idea who else to put at the two. If you don't make the move for Lowry I think the lineup looks like
Jimmer
THJ
JR
Melo
Chandler

He is not just a shooter he is a slasher/fast break finisher something the Knicks have very little of.

I like this. Makes sense. I don't want the Knicks to move Tim. I think the Knicks need to avoid getting fleeced in a Lowry trade. The guy is having a great year but he is a free agent, has struggled with coaches and has been injury prone.
I think the Knicks need to make a couple of deals. I don't think a big trade like Lowry makes too much sense. The Knicks are out of options and digging themselves into a corner when they're 10+ games below 500 in the shittiest Eastern Conference I can remember is beyond stupid. I really, really like Lowry but I would prefer maintaining what little flexibilit the franchise has left

I agree. This isn't an easy fix and teams want what is right with the Knicks. Getting jimmer for beno is a no risk move that could work out nicely.

I agree. Flexibility is the key if the Knicks get locked on a mediocre talent like Lowry it will cost the Knicks in the future.

There is a shift in philosphy if no panic moves are made.
I don't know what it is but when Mills walked in the door something changed.
We don't have the assets to make a splash and we have reached critial mass here because to keep leveraging a future when the present is not working has to stop!
With a Melo future uncertain this team cannot afford to do things that eat 2015 cap space if that is what in fact we are trying to do.
We are not privy to the plan. Assuming there is one.
Knicks have MIlls who is president and GM and I'd say things are different now.

two things:
1 - so I guess that's better than one of the worst backcourts ever assembled
2 - I don't really like the line-up but now that I know you don't like it, I know it's much better than I thought

I am not sure how capable mills is at this point. He has done three notable/notorious things working for the Knicks. Last fall berman reported that mills was responsible for the Dyess trade. Mills hired isiah and he gave Chris smith a spot on an nba roster. Hopefully the Knicks conservative approach to the trade deadline is based on a new sensibility. Not sure that that is the case. The management team does seem to be very committed to preserving 2015 cap space.

I know everyone is giddy for change. I'm just saying be careful what you wish for. Patch up work never works for us
You want make tweek the roster so that games are watchable fine but new are not winning anything til after 2015

clearly you forget the impact of the Mo Taylor trade
But remember, those two 2nd rounders we traded for Barganani have no value

Exactly people get all giddy over these trades and then panic when he the team actually gets worse with no assets and picks to improve
It's like some of you became Knicks fans yesterday. Come on we should know better by now

Not as high on Jimmer as some are. I tend to agree that we could go get something comparable in the D-league right now (Seth Curry for instance) and keep the pick. This kid Curry might have better PG ability, a better handle and a better off-the-dribble game by comparison.

Knicks can't take back salary for picks like the cavs or other teams. They moved second rounders to create more cap space for 2015. Grunwald couldn't change the cap situation so that the Knicks were players and under the cap for this deadline. The Knicks being capped out isn't a new thing. Making moves with second rounders to improve that situation is bad?
Its a good trade for 30 games. He is a shooter who can also handle and drive. Hes almost 200 pounds so hes no small guy either. He would provide a ballhandler who cna take over 1 or play with 1 like Pablo does and spread the floor wider. But unlike Novak--Jimmer is not one dimensional and has unknown upside. A guy needs a chance and playing next to Carmelo would be great for him. For Udirh is a no brainer fans would love it.
