is laughable. We were dead last in perimeter d before he was gone.
To salvage this season we need to make a couple of moves at the deadline and change the coach--we did not--and everything else is excuse
yea, the peremeter D is shumperts fault
Yes briggs. Im stuck of hearing people talk about his defense. He hasnt stopped anyone his whole career. He can look involved in stints and he'll get an aggressive steal hear and there. He gets a dunk once a month. The dude had 2 major knee surgeries and he's hurt now. He has cramping issues too. He's injury prone.
This is facts. He's a spot up shooter. He's not a slasher. He's a young guy and he sucks in the open court. He cringes when he drives to the basket. This is pure facts.
All the talk about his defense and potential is complete bullshit.
We could have traded him for a second rounder early in the year and picked up shannon brown. He's better than simp but wasnt even in the league until recently. It's a joke really. Why do fans hold on to bums just because they were a Draft pick.
Everyone is quick to bring out Thjrs flaws and saying he shouldn't start and bringing all these crazy starts to prove it, but can't believe their eyes when a dude is terrible because the dude can make a visit interview and sound like he can play, and had a rep for playing defense coming out of college.
I am absolutely tired of it.

You can spin it like that if you want. But the reason we suck is because he hasn't gotten Better. That's in all aspects. If he goes to another team and does well fuck him because he got his opportunity here and he failed.

Come on, if that's what you write, you're not even trying to present a genuine, productive response to his comments.
Spree/Jordan lite.
Mecca Starphuchers elevate the fiction.
I have to say, Shump was my favorite knick the last two years, but it's reality that he is a huge disappointment. He has not developed rather he's regressed. And the injury prone argument is accurate. If we had a better team (and better coaching) maybe we could afford the luxury of developing him, but the Knicks are not in that position. Bottom line: he has sucked. And he is no longer the defender he was his first year. That speaks to lack of mental toughness. It's a bummer but true.

Bonehead Woodson has Shumpert at SF. He doesn't even guard the perimeter half the time. Felton, prigs, prig and it do and thy are awful
Shump is a major reason why the Knicks suck.

Agree. Also, you move guys that don't play well and push their coaches. Knicks need a real gm.

Not gonna shoot the whole load on Shumpert, but he is a major disappointment. He needs to immerse himself into ball handling, drives to the basket, and the mid-range shot to redeem himself.
The only bs is this coach, front office and owner. Last in perimeter D? Oh you mean the D that switches on every single screen? Well that stat must be a clear indicator of nothing...
Has Shump underperformed? Sure. Who, other than Melo, hasn't?
Shump is a quality player who has been shit on at every turn. All the while a guy like JR is coddled. How does that make sense?
Usually enjoy Briggs informative threads/posts bc I think he's the best poster on this site, but this thread is a joke. Sorry if that ruffles feathers.

What quality has Shump displayed this season? The ability to shoot 3's in a streakier fashion than a John Starks/Gerald Wilkins love child? He's defensively overrated and now he's hurt. Again. Does he make JR Smith dispensible? Has he ever managed that?
This season's dismalness certainly doesn't rest on his shoulders, but as of right now, he's no longer the untouchable key to the future he once was.
enyspree, vmart, jrodmc....
come on now... this was the only guy who could stop dwayne wade in our playoffs against them. how are you going to fault him for having ACL surgery and coming back a step slow. It take 18 months approximately to get back to 100% after an ACL surgery to where you can say there's no effect of the surgery left anymore.
i have faith in shumpert, granted he was not defending as well, but do you not think that woody's criticism of our best perimeter defender had something to do with it...?
woody was trying to save his own job and went after someone who is still a youngster instead of going after his vets. how do you think that made shump feel? if i was in his place, i'd feel a little less motivated to work my tail off for this coach, wouldn't you?
what were those morons running hte shows in OKC and LAC thinking?
Are people really going to dump on Shump's man defense when all the Knicks do is switch on their defensive responsibilities?
He hasn't been good this year but sheesh

I blame Woody too. But Shump is mentally weak player. I never blame a player for injury but it has been two year now for Shump and he may never be as quick. But that is when a player develops other skill sets. Improve shooting. Efficiency in defensive positioning. These are thing Shump didn't improve in, knowing that he may not have the same explosion. I was big on Shump I thought he was going to be good player but he has regressed so much that he is worse than what he was in his first year.
hopefully our next
Michael Jordan err... prospect isnt as weak as Shumpert mentally. Would be sad to see THjr not make the dozen or so all star games most assume are in his future.
Of course if he flops we will know why..... hold it, hold it.. wait for it.... Melo's fault
And people blame TKF for dragging Melo into everything?!
and now tkf is dragged into the thread!
