If so, why?
In the many, many years that I've been a fan of this team, I have endured losing seasons and embarrassments.
While this latest one, that being the whole fiasco that is the 2013-2014 Knicks, is just another one in a long list, I feel like something is different. Maybe I was too naive to think last season was the start of a new trend and not some kid's granted miracle that expired with last season. Don't exactly know why, but this feels like the last insult in a line of tough fan abuse.
So before I do what I previously thought was unthinkable, I'd like to read from you, fellow fans, your reasons to stick with this team, even with ownership not looking to change, coaching still turning decent men into clowns we want fired and players that can't even get us second round picks in return.
Yes cuz they're my team. Born and raised. Can't sever the ties that bind.
Patrick Ewing was so good, I'm still waiting for my Knicks to recapture some of what he embodied... umpteen years later.
Always and Forever. I will never be a guy who jump from team to team bc of players. Thats corny. Unless the Knicks organization does something to my kids, then Orange and Blue for life.
Probably will spend some time looking at d league rosters and highlights and names of guys coming home from china before Monday so yeah still a fan.
You're always a fan that's just how it goes, there is an unspoken code
all of you are hanging on to nostalgia. nostalgia makes everything look better than they are. you are now adults and can make adult decisions. no need to stick around unless you like the pain, like how fishmike goes downtown for his weekly spankings.

This organization shortened their dad's lifespan
I've always been a Knicks. Knicks4Life!!!
I will always be a loyal Knick fan BUT i do now appreciate the 90's knicks more. I grew up watching the 90's Knicks and i felt disappointed that they never won the big one even though they came so close. However i now appreciate how good they were since i have had to watch the mess the Knicks have become since 2000
Last night I lost my Knicks cap… I've had that hat for maybe the better part of 2 decades. I've *almost* lost it dozens of times, it's been with me in various countries from Mexico to Spain. And I lost it less than a mile away from my house.
Seems about right.
Why am I a fan? For the same reason as everybody else. Plus it runs deep into my family for multiple generations. I love this time of bad basketball. You get to see who the real fans are. I question the fans that ask these types of questions. Ny for life. Knicks for life. But that doesn't mean you stop watching other teams. Or routing for other teams. I missed the game yesterday and it felt good. Sometimes u have to temporarily disconnect yourself but always remain a fan. Don't wait until they become good because they will always be up and down. Don't be a fair weather fan.
I never appreciated the 90's knicks either. I hated our offense but loved the defense. It's a different time now. Even pickup ball is different. I said to one dude that u don't play defense. He said nobody plays defense anymore. Im a defensive player because of the 90's and learned offense later in my 30. Gotta remember these players get top dollar for their offense. So the league is filled with offensive players with low iq on defense. That's what frustrates me the most. I'm actually starting to like college ball more now thanks to these knicks.

Yes I am and I will always be a knicks die hard fan
I think that, even if we all have different stories about when we became fans, the common denominator has to be a connection to the team that makes you love it and follow it no matter what.
I loved the 90s and early 00s Knicks because of their grit, resiliency and their performance even if they somehow where always the underdogs. They were disciplined, worked like a team and gave their all on defense. The description has worn off, but this year, to me, feels a whole level darker and more embarrassing than any of the last losing seaaons we've had. In those years, I still had hope that a trade or a firing would kickstart my team going to the right direction.
But wow...
If knowledge is power, Ive had too much of that from this organization. Every scandal, every turmoil, every mistaken decision has completely disconnected me from this team. Not only is the product on the floor as bad as possible with the most talent we've had in a losing on, but the decisions made by the coach, GM and owner are so disgusting.
I love New York, MSG and the orange and blue. I can't root for the Nets. I can see a game and chose to root for a team but it never somes close to my passion for the Knicks. Yet, I sincerely and truly hate this year's version along with everyone in the organization. They dont represent me nor connect with me one bit. So, while Im still a fan, I hate todays team and have no real hope for a better future. I find no fun in criticizing the organization continuously. I just want to connect again with the team I loved, but this situation is damaged right now.
That is why I asked. I dont hold myself high in hardcore fandom nor wanted this to be about how real of a fan you are. I think if you are here, you are. Nice to know how some of you are holding out on the ultimate wxample of embarrassing seasons by this team. But I guess some here are right: once a fan, always a fan, no matter if you no longer connect with the team and have no hope for the future, probably the main ingredients of being a fan.
What's the definition of a fan? I can't watch this garbage right now. It's too depressing. It's going to get a lot worse before it gets better. I can deal with losing but I can't deal with the ignorance of this team. How can they not figure any of these basic fundamentals out? It's so unprofessional it's disgusting.
