Rookie @ 2/24/2014 3:19 PM
Damn...this list doesn't even include their own picks

2014 first round draft pick from Philadelphia
Philadelphia's 1st round pick to Boston (via Miami) protected for selections 1-14 in 2014 or 1-14 in 2015; if Philadelphia has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Boston by 2015, then Philadelphia will instead convey its 2015 2nd round pick and 2016 2nd round pick to Boston [Miami-Philadelphia, 6/28/2012 and then Boston-Golden State-Miami, 1/15/2014]

2014 first round draft pick from Brooklyn
Brooklyn will convey the less favorable of its 2014 1st round pick and Atlanta's 2014 1st round pick to Boston (via Atlanta's right to swap for Brooklyn) [Atlanta-Brooklyn, 7/11/2012 and then Boston-Brooklyn, 7/12/2013]

2015 first round draft pick from L.A. Clippers
L.A. Clippers' 2015 1st round pick to Boston [Boston-L.A. Clippers, 6/25/2013]

2015 second round draft pick from Sacramento
Sacramento's 2015 2nd round pick to Boston protected for selections 31-55 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Sacramento's obligation to Boston will be extinguished) [Boston-Sacramento, 2/17/2009]

2016 first round draft pick from Brooklyn
Brooklyn's 2016 1st round pick to Boston [Boston-Brooklyn, 7/12/2013]

2016 second round draft pick from Miami
Miami's 2016 2nd round pick to Boston [Boston-Golden State-Miami, 1/15/2014]

2017 first round draft pick from Brooklyn
Boston has the right to swap its 2017 1st round pick for Brooklyn's 2017 1st round pick; if Boston exercises this swap right, then Boston will convey its 2017 2nd round pick to Brooklyn protected for selections 31-45 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Boston's obligation to Brooklyn will be extinguished) [Boston-Brooklyn, 7/12/2013]

2017 second round draft pick from Sacramento
Sacramento's 2017 2nd round pick to Boston protected for selections 31-55 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Sacramento's obligation to Boston will be extinguished) [Boston-Sacramento, 2/24/2011]

2018 first round draft pick from Brooklyn
Brooklyn's 2018 1st round pick to Boston [Boston-Brooklyn, 7/12/2013]

So this is what a rebuild looks like. You keep your allstar PG and accumulate 1st rd draft picks to use to build around him....they will have cap room to sign FA's...AND...they still have their amnesty clause.

furfecksake man.

fishmike @ 2/24/2014 4:07 PM
its called having a plan

Then they will package those picks and player and build another title run with Rondo + 2 stars and young players.

It also helps if you can do business with Billy King and the Nets. Remember the Nets sent a top 3 protected pick that became Lillard to take on the huge sum of money owed to Gerald Wallace.

Yeah, all that sounds good. Except the part about having an all star point guard. Rondo has looked crappy and I'm not convinced he will return to the same level physically. Still, it doesn't matter how you tank as long as you go all in.

yeah and so? If they think he isn't the PG of the future they can trade him or not resign him. It's not like he's locked in for 4 years 100M. Atleast they have a plan AND options.

jThe plan is a lot easier to execute when you deal with Billy King.

ainge was able to dump off pierce and a basically finished kg for all those draft picks. that alone should win him EOY. i thought it would work in brooklyn and they would challenge for a title this year. i was wrong. and i just shake my head at the incompetence by king and prokorov. and this on the heels of the deron + joe deals where they gave up more picks.

they're team is better off next year if lopez comes back, pierce on another team and kg being put out of his misery.

just one more example of us not having a plan. Dolan spent 1B renovating the Garden before renogotiating a long term permit. The paint is even dry yet..."Ten years should be enough time, officials said, for the Garden to find a new location and for the city to devise plans for an expanded Pennsylvania Station"

and if you think the Graden isn't moving in 10 years, read this article from today's post about the development of the west side. The infrastructure (extended train lines) is almost complete.

Agree. Not sure that Ainge had a plan but once you find a guy like Billy King willing to do crazy things it makes it a lot easier to look smart.

Nets might be in deep trouble in the coming years. Very difficult for a big man to return to form after chronic foot problems. Their best move might be to move Deron for picks while he has higher value to make up (some) for all the picks they sent to the Celts. Celtics are looking good right now with all those future picks. I think they will end up moving Rondo as well and completely revamp from scratch.

Bropez's surgery was described as career saving meaning if that foot gets messed up again then he probably is done.

THEN, they resigned Wallace to an even more ridiculous extension! And they claim they wouldn't want Lillard because they have Deron.

The sad part is they are the better team right now which makes me nauseous. But when their old guys go down it's going to get UGLY in BK.

SwishAndDish13 @ 2/24/2014 11:44 PM
Hard to take Boston's rebuild as an actual plan since they are the benefactors of many fixed player movement deals. I always feel like something fishy is going on with every trade they are involved in. Ever since the league decided they wanted them to be good again they have been fleecing teams in every trade.
y2zipper @ 2/25/2014 3:05 AM
The deal they made is basically the equivalent of the Knicks swapping Amare and Chandler for tons of picks. Ainge happened to find a sucker to take all his bad contracts.
