I'll give you a hint, look at the personnel line up for the knicks. Mills is President and GM. There are basketball guys there.
With grunwald there was a sense that there was one voice and one plan. Since Mills has been in place it has been hard to figure out if there is a plan and whose voice is making decisions like keeping Chris when the roster was loaded with injury prone/limited big men. Or keeping shump despite his poor play, pushing of the coach, disrespect of the coach etc. these decisions don't appear to be being made by a professional basketball executive.

That is exactly what I would tell him if I was McKinsey. Maybe it's already been said and they are working on it behind the scenes but I doubt it. Dolan is the worst owner in sports so I really don't see much changing while he owns the Knicks. It didn't work with Donnie and McKinsey won't have much impact either. The problem is Dolan will always think he knows best and will not follow even the best advice.
He needs to understand that just because you have money and own a team, it doesn't mean you understand basketball and should have your hand in trades.

I am more upset about the unprotected pick we gave up because it really ties our hands and hurts us when we need to add talent the most. It pretty much guarantees Melo is gone.
Galle hasn't done much since we traded him - he is injured a lot. Chandler hasn't been that great either. Sure things could be different if they were still on the Knicks as the supporting cast to Melo (assuming he would have come in free agency), but we don't know how that would have worked out.
Dolan would have found a way to mess the roster up - his hands are all over every bad decision this franchise has made.

Yeah, the unprotected pick, 40% of the annual cap to Melo, using the amnesty on Billups. Those three things have killed us.

It counts his rookie year. His rookie year he didn't play bad back.
I thought some of it was DNP-CDs but not a big deal. Either way, he's a very good player whose career has been sadly limited due to injury.

I thought the plan was pretty clear when Dolan brought Mills back in. It's to use his "juice" with players to entice Melo to stay and bring other FA here.

Why couldn't Wilson Chandler be traded for future picks (we are under the cap, we don't need to match salaries)

Gallo's value was high at the time with his potential, and salary didn't kick in till a couple of years later

You are not making sense..Why would the Knicks start trading pieces for picks when they just gave Amare 100 mil and Donnie was giving away picks to get under the cap...Also they just signed Felton...You are painting a scenario to rebuild when we could have done that by not signing Amare and not hiring a win now coach...We aren't trading pieces for picks to put around Melo and Amare...Doesn't make sense...

Knicks could still trade Wilson Chandler for a draft pick before signing Anthony
Instead of trading for Anthony, Signing Anthony to a 4year deal vs a 5year deal (WHICH HE IS OPTING OUT OF, SO WHY DID WE TRADE FOR HIM PRIOR TO DEADLINE???)
All those players could be packaged for one of those STARS in CP3, D12, Harden
