If you think Mills and McKinsey have doe nothing then you don't understand time and what a consultant does.
They don't have magic dust that makes it all wonderful. My take is it started with Mills.
Goal no. 1 had to be "don't do anything stupid anymore!
2nd, hire a consultant. I doubt they even figured it out yet.Wait, Am I really trying to explain this?
Read the NY POst, plead on websites that "dolan should sell", and think Mills is an idiot.
I'll give you a hint, look at the personnel line up for the knicks. Mills is President and GM. There are basketball guys there.
With grunwald there was a sense that there was one voice and one plan. Since Mills has been in place it has been hard to figure out if there is a plan and whose voice is making decisions like keeping Chris when the roster was loaded with injury prone/limited big men. Or keeping shump despite his poor play, pushing of the coach, disrespect of the coach etc. these decisions don't appear to be being made by a professional basketball executive.

Exactly
And even in this year of injury, Gallo is hurting his team less than JR is!
Sad stat but gallo will have missed over 40% of the games he has been eligible to play. In by the time back next year.
Sad, yes, but my statement stands
Is that counting the rookie year when some of it was DNP-CDs? After that year, I think it's around 34%.

NYK's and Dolan
I wonder if Dolan will listen to McKinsey, because so far McKinsey and Dolan have done NOTHING, is McKinsey not doing their job or is Dolan NOT listening?
Dolan hires a firm that I could tell him what the changes he could have done for their future
I would be shocked if McKinsey did not tell Dolan to change coaching staff, hire a competent GM, and trade asset/preserve cap space for 2015
That is exactly what I would tell him if I was McKinsey. Maybe it's already been said and they are working on it behind the scenes but I doubt it. Dolan is the worst owner in sports so I really don't see much changing while he owns the Knicks. It didn't work with Donnie and McKinsey won't have much impact either. The problem is Dolan will always think he knows best and will not follow even the best advice.
He needs to understand that just because you have money and own a team, it doesn't mean you understand basketball and should have your hand in trades.

I am more upset about the unprotected pick we gave up because it really ties our hands and hurts us when we need to add talent the most. It pretty much guarantees Melo is gone.
Galle hasn't done much since we traded him - he is injured a lot. Chandler hasn't been that great either. Sure things could be different if they were still on the Knicks as the supporting cast to Melo (assuming he would have come in free agency), but we don't know how that would have worked out.
Dolan would have found a way to mess the roster up - his hands are all over every bad decision this franchise has made.

Yeah, the unprotected pick, 40% of the annual cap to Melo, using the amnesty on Billups. Those three things have killed us.

I thought some of it was DNP-CDs but not a big deal. Either way, he's a very good player whose career has been sadly limited due to injury.

I thought the plan was pretty clear when Dolan brought Mills back in. It's to use his "juice" with players to entice Melo to stay and bring other FA here.

Dude just stop it, no matter what anyone posts and proves, you still will not change your perception and opinion, so why bother asking?
If you cannot see what have NOT accomplished since the trade for Melo till now, what more proof do you need?
Why couldn't we have traded Felton while his value was high, playing in Dantoni's system, Portland traded for him with Andre Miller and a 1st round pick, we got him back by losing 2 2nd round picks
Why couldn't Wilson Chandler be traded for future picks (we are under the cap, we don't need to match salaries)
2 GS's 2nd round picks (the ones with traded Lee for)
Gallo's value was high at the time with his potential, and salary didn't kick in till a couple of years later
AR could have been traded for a 2nd round pick at the time
MosGoV's value would have grew even more if we kept the team intact with all the players we traded away, that was the first year we actually improved and showed chemistry, Dantoni was actually able to run his system
Even Fields had great value in his rookie year
1 1st rounder (top 10 projected, this year) and the swap for 2016
In addition to saving Denver 50m in salaries/taxes (50m is a lot of money, even too a Billionaire, we got no value back for this while 1st round picks are now shipped to save a couple million)
We did no achieve anything that year that we could not have with the players we traded away or in the future, but you continue to refuse to accept it "Melo brought us in playoffs"
Multiple posters have said, over and over again, we could have traded for another ALL STAR if have signed Melo instead of trading for him
While players like CP3, D12, Harden, were available, with the assets we gave up, our package could be better than what they received
So Melo forces his way to NYK in trades because he wanted an extra year of salary, just so he can opt out of it, but again, you refuse to accept any of this, with any of the above, and continue to post the same BS all over again
Yes we still would have our amnesty, in addition to all the horrible trades after trading for Melo *BECAUSE WE HAD NO LEVERAGE*
That is why maintaining assets, preserving cap room, and development is needed, how was Pacers, Clippers, Houston, Portland, built?
You fail to admit the truth, hold Melo accountable for any of his selfishness, all even when presented right in front of you
So in a couple months you will repeat the same questions, bash the ex Knick's, bask the current Knick's, and act like you know better than everyone else despite proven wrong every time...
With your theory, no player is worth developing, especially 2nd tier Star's, because "eventually you have to pay them anyway in the future"
You are so flawed, just like our roster...

Knicks could still trade Wilson Chandler for a draft pick before signing Anthony
Instead of trading for Anthony, Signing Anthony to a 4year deal vs a 5year deal (WHICH HE IS OPTING OUT OF, SO WHY DID WE TRADE FOR HIM PRIOR TO DEADLINE???)
All those players could be packaged for one of those STARS in CP3, D12, Harden
Houston constantly rotated assets/picks to get to where to are right now
Felton
Fields
Gallo
Wilson Chandler
2014 1st rounder, 2016 2nd round swap
2 GS 2nd rounders
These guys above were playing their best ball and had chemistry going, it is why Felton was shipped to Portland the following year for Andre Miller and a 1st round pick
We were going in the playoffs that year with or without the trade, at worse case scenario was getting knocked out 1st rounder in playoffs which we accomplished by trading for Anthony
We sold LOW on our own players and bought HIGH on Melo

AR, actually still could have been sold for a 2nd round pick, Twovles had interest in him, and took Eddy Curry's 10-12m contract just to take AR
