I rarely respond to TK about anything Melo related but he knows the nba and is fun to chat with in regards to other games. DK posts some over the top stuff and sometimes I find it hard not to react/clarify things. Generally it is the same words different day and it is easy to ignore.

Well for me personally I actually do enjoy DKs posts - even the one's on Melo. I agree with him on some of his points but at the same time do think he goes too far. If I completely hated his posting, I'd just put him on ignore.

Exactly... It's some of the best stuff I read everyday. Nuggets like this:

Dk: all star game is a popularity contest, as opposed to NBA all team which is voted on by news writers and broadcasters

Fishmike: but last year Melo beat out your favorite player and advanced stat beast Paul George. How is that?

Dk: they got it wrong

Bravo Yellow. Never understood this myself. I gave up trying to figure it out at some point last season. Why do people feel the need to change others opinions and argue in circles. Is it really that offensive? Melo could give two shits what TKF and dk say here or that everyone has his back. We are discussing the Knicks amongst ourselves. Quit being a bunch of pansies and get over it.

I love engaging in a good argument. Sometimes I feel I am wasting my time. Sometimes you get to the bottom of an argument with someone and it goes so deep that you change your views. This is healthy IMO. What I see here is not. Well that's my take at least

I'd let it go. If someone isn't willing to say that you and TKF by large were more correct than anyone else here in a year where you predicted disaster and the team is .350, then they never will.

Uptown was laughing at DK blaming feltons horrendous play, jr's immaturity, and shump's regression all on Melo. You're a pretty rational guy Bonn. You can't actually agree with that.

you are distorting through false generalizations. homey don't play dat

Your words:
felton's drop in play is due more to his personal issues than what melo has done, but melo's announcing before the season started that he wanted to test free agency is not going to inspire felton to play up to his full potential. it's one thing to do your job and another to show up to a lost cause 82 times.

jr smith is a clown. that's on him mostly but melo, being the non-leader, non-mentor, non-committal type of guy he is, doesn't help clowns become less clownish.

trading away copeland and novak was grunwald's responsibility, but woodson is a big factor there since he disliked both these players. that's on woodson and grunwald, not melo.

shump's regression has nothing to do with melo, except he sees the hypocrisy, cronyism, and favoritism and as a young man with i presume a conscience is adversly affected by the malaise and dysfunction of the franchise-- of which melo is a key contributor.

you clearly have reading comprehension issues. at this point i find that amusing, and i bet i am not alone there.

now that the team has utterly failed i don't think there is much to discuss except giving credit where credit is due. bonn has the nuts and the graciousness. not ego-driven but truth-driven.

even mr. answerman flipflop has seen the light, however begrudgingly and stingily. i am pretty sure he represents the majority of knick fans who come here to observe or participate.

and then there are folks like yourself: you want to remain in darkness then know that at this point it is self-imposed. melo is not worth more than 12-13 million a season to the knicks.

I think our backcourt would still be a huge issue. Our guys can't knock down shots consistently. How will he impact Melo since we seem to use Melo at the PF a lot? Does Love become our center? I don't know much about love but I am not sure he is the key to the Knicks turning things around.

Can someone enlighten me? Will his game mesh with Melo or will we have another Stat issue where their games don't thrive when the are on the court together?

We need to make sure we are targeting the right guys, not just the best available who will require max contracts.

Seeing as I may have played a role in the derailment of this thread, I'll try to help get it back on track.

I don't think they'd mesh to be honest. We'd be going after love cause Melo wants it (assuming he stays here) or because he's an all star that puts up numbers and he's apparently big enough to be in commercials. If we're not gonna rebuild, we could still put together a team with a plan in mind instead of just throwing guys together.

He cited Melo as being one of many relevant factors. He's right that players don't exactly thrive playing with Melo and Melo hasn't helped Felton but obviously there are more important reasons why Felton's play has deteriorated.

Did Aldridge help Felton? Felton sucks and you know that.

Did Melo help Chandler? Chandler was a mediocre player most of his career.

Please show me the stats of players who have significantly higher stats when they did not play with melo.

I just don't think you place blame on Melo with everyone of those players. Melo stated he gave JR talks. If JR doesn't wanna listen then that's on him. Shump probably doesn't like the favoritism but JRs effected him more than Melo's did since we went with a big lineup in the beginning and they played the same position. And I really don't think Feltons been too concerned with Melo wanting to test free agency.

I actually respect your opinion. But you saying that "players don't exactly thrive playing with Melo and Melo hasn't helped Felton" is a bit misleading and you seem to be subtly insinuating something.

Players thrive when playing on a talented winning team (usually). The knicks have very weak players so most individuals don't "thrive".

Don't see any sample size either way.

Players who thrived: Good Novak, Copeland, Good JR, Billups, Nene, Chandler, Good Shumpert ...

Players who did not: Bad Novak, Bad JR, Felton, Bad Shumpert, real Chandler, old Amare

Fair enough. I gave my "players thriving" comment to point out that DK's comment didn't seem terribly far-fetched like many made it sound but I wouldn't attribute Felton's struggles to Melo. If Melo were to ever become a more complete player, I'd give him tons of credit regardless of how his teammates did.

I don't like how the media is making Love the flavor of the month just because he is labeled as the top FA of 2015. If he is the best of what's available we need a much longer term plan (we do anyway but 2015 may not be the year we get better).

I don't know what you mean by pause but they've still been more right than anyone else.
Maybe just take notes instead of calling them names (comment not aimed at you specifically but several here)

Year before last you quoted Mr. .470 constantly and stopped(paused)..Now you are quoting winning percentages again??..Guess quoting .659 isn't as much fun..Those two are constantly moving the goal post..dk7 predicted the Knicks would finish 3-7th seed last year..When they finished 2nd he claimed it was a "disappointing year"...He felt the Knicks should have beat Indy...He said losing 4-2 to Indy was an annihilation...I'm glad at least you have a handle on what he means and when he is actually right...

please show me respect for a change. i said all season long last season that it was that they were winning but NOT THE RIGHT WAY. at least not on a consistent-enough basis to make me believe they were conference finalists. i said kidd was the mvp of that team AS DID TKF. kidd went down and guess what happened: pretty much .500 ball club. and what is a .500 type ballclub going to do against a 7th seed in the first round without their best layer? STRUGGLE. and against a true 2nd seed? GET ANNIHILATED. they were overmatched by a team who actually was without their point guard for one of those games. so when i predict a 3-7th seed it is with playoff performance in mind NOT where they end up in the regular season standings. repeat that least sentence to yourself until it sinks in and please don't respond before that point.

when that has sunk in lets recall that kidd retires and guess what happens: LEADERSHIP AND ORCHESTRATING/FACILITATING VACUUM. did i not say they would implode? THEY IMPLODED. did carmelo really open his piehole and say he intended to test free agency? that is a fact. so when i say "implosion is a very real possibility" and then it happens it makes me look pretty insightful and prescient now don't it?

i am going to be frank... i am a nightmare for some people but for all the right reasons. please... show respect and we are cool.

if not i suggest you use the ignore button. it works for papabear and god knows who else over the years.

great post dk, but them admitting to kidd being gone as that big of an impact will only expose the lack of leadership we are not getting from our max CAT!!
