In light of the fact that we always seem to go after the starphucking choice for a head coach....Why do we always go after the re-threads...I think there are many young candidates out there who are qualified and deserves a look....Let me also preface this by saying I don't think we should get a new coach before we solidify whats happening in the front office...I think we need a good GM who can find and work in tandem with a good coach, you know, like normal organizations...But we are where we are and Dolan is the owner, so onward...

I nominate John Thompson III as a guy we should go after..To be honest, I haven't really followed Georgetown much after Patrick left...But Thompson always seems to have his teams playing above their heads..He overachieved as the Princeton coach and has overachieved as the coach of Georgetown University...He also seems to have structure to his offense...His father was a defensive master which I'm hoping he took some pointers from ...

Shaka Smart..Yeah I know he is young but we need some thinking outside the box as well as some luck...He has a good defensive mind and heck, he will look good strolling our sidelines...

Anyone else???

Shaka Smart? Vcu plays pretty weak team all season long, then plays real teams in the tournament.
and shaka smart's HAVOC defense is running a full court press all game long, that would not work in the NBA

I would take stan van gundy, lionel hollins

Stan took some shots at Dolan, so....

Steve Hetzel head coach of the Canton Charge. He is young, has nba experience including working for Pop, and is a developmental guy. He preaches defense and has the best defensive team in the d league.

i wonder why he hasn't gotten a chance in the NBA? i feel like most of pop's disciples have gotten a shot.

He got his start with Pop as a video guy, then coached for Mike Brown, then went to the Pistons with the guy from Brown's staff that coached there before Frank. He also coached with Frank.

If Melo departs, I'd go with Pat Ewing. He deserves a shot, and I think he would be good. Plus, the name recognition would help with any fan engagement issues if we're struggling with a rebuild.

This was the guy I was talking about, I think he is someone we should look in to, at the very least as an assistant because it isn't the "MSG way"
Great find Crush

I would hire Fred Hoiberg. My second choice is Scott Skiles.

I have always wanted Lionel Hollins, Memphis ownership let him go for some bogus reason.

He knows what it takes to win when given a fair chance.

gunsnewing @ 3/10/2014 7:26 AM
Hollins was let to because they traded Gay and he was against the analytic approach
