I don't have a problem with people critiquing Melo, but I get a bit bored when it's the same point over and over and over again- it's like being stuck in a rut. At some point you have to accept you've made your case, and move on to another subject
i for one won't stick around if he is resigned to such a high salary that it leaves the knicks no chance to acquire players who will put him in his place. believe it or not melo will be a good player at the right price, which is around 12-13 million per year. but every dollar above 13 million makes him worse and worse. it's always a balance of price versus value. he didn't understand that and of course he had the perfect accomplice in dolan.
that's why phil jackson being here is so important, assuming he has complete autonomy. he is a smart and persuasive man and he has 13 reasons for people to back that up.
sorry if critiquing a player is boring but you see his game has not evolved in areas that are required to win, and his arrival created so much turmoil that the knicks could never get the right players in place to achieve anything substantial.
Didn't you say you were leaving over at realgm if the melo trade went through? My understanding was you stayed until they didn't allow you to be post there any longer.
yeah my love for the knicks outstrips my hatred for carmelo anthony. the good folks at realgm don't understand such nuances-- do you? as i said-- the reason i no longer posted there was because a global mod-- a gaulieiter with a username of "moocow"-- didn't take kindly to the suggestion that he remove carmelo anthony's nuts from his mouth. so it was personal not philosophical. besides that he was one of the most ignorant basketball posters i have ever encountered in a position of authority. everything he said was wrong. everything he predicted was wrong. you can look it up. he was quite stupid really. he occupied that dangerous territory of middling intellect and power, probably around 118-124 IQ i reckon.

one poster there has been calling him a "pig" for at least 3 years.
i think it's really a small contingent of fans that really don't like him.
if we took a poll here asking if you want melo on the team or not i'd suspect it would be overwhelmingly in the 'rather have him on the team' category.
Yeah the Knicks forum at Escape from Elba has a couple haters but they post here too. It's the same haters.

the dude is a top player in the league. this isn't jimmy jackson averaging 25 ppg on the mavericks years ago. how you can not want someone like melo on your team is beyond me.
i hear the salary arguments, but overpaying a superstar talent is not the thing you go too crazy over. you aren't winning much at all without at least one player like that on your team.
a big problem on our team is all of the other overpaid players who don't produce anywhere near what they earn....aka bad management or at least other bad moves. the melo move is maybe one of the best one's we've made in forever.
that's why phil jackson coming gives many folks hope.
and this thread and some responses are not about melo walking this season. the chants for ridding him from the team have been going on since he arrived here, or how he isn't worth what we gave up and how it's his fault he didn't wait for free agency when we got him, how he isn't a good advanced stats player, selfish...and on and on and on...

If it was for a reasonable salary, I'm pretty sure it would be 100% of the people here. Even the ones you have in mind have indicated the salaries they would keep Melo for. Nalod's question was brilliant.

Well the Knicks have won 6 straight and that has quited things down some. There seemed to be a renewed passion among the anti melo crowd when both Amare and Tyson were out for the Celtics game but that died down quickly with another win. I think the knicks beat the pacers on Wednesday but if they don't expect a lot of anti melo activity again. Also, Lin hasn't played in a few days. If he plays and has a good game the melo chased lin chant will start again.
On a side note. Have you noticed how efficient Cole is?
i think the board is solid. there are a few well spoken Melo haters who are delusional trolls, and there are some over the top Lin Lovers, but 90% of people are on point. Don't let dk/tk/playa ruin the rest of the board for you. DK said Melo and Gallo should get paid around the same $$$, lol. don't let someone so clueless and agenda driven have any impact on your user experience; he's not worth it. I agree to some extent but I also think things change and evolve. One thing that the new anti-melo guys are good at is getting a reaction and getting guys to post and debate. I find it is pretty frustrating at times but in terms of the forum it probably generates more activity. Also, I think sometimes it is important to just be a voice to keep things real. One other thing that is a bit frustrating for me is the stat movement. I know it has its place but if someone doesn't watch a game and tells me what I saw wasn't a good performance based on what they read the next day in a box score it pisses me off. There is an ebb and flow to every game and it is different and you can't really account for that with metrics in basketball.
