Knicks · Can We Get Eric Bledsoe? (page 1)

NardDogNation @ 3/16/2014 4:35 PM
He'd be perfect in the triangle and now that both Gerald Green and PJ Tucker have emerged, the Suns do not necessarily need a 2 guard. Would Tyson Chandler and Iman Shumpert be a competitive offer?

Can we get one all inclusive thread called "can we get..."
VCoug @ 3/16/2014 5:01 PM
I don't think so. Gerald Green has been up and down his entire career so I wouldn't trust him to continue this kind of play. And PJ Tucker's nice but not exactly great. Bledsoe is still better than both of them, especially defensively, and the team has played much better when he's been in the lineup. With multiple first round picks potentially over the next couple of years (including, at least, their own potential lottery pick, Washington's mid-1st, and Indy's late 1st in this year's draft) I don't see them making any deals unless they're getting a superstar or someone giftwraps a great deal to them.

I was thinking the same thing too, which sucks because I think he'd be interested in the Knicks, if we had the cap space to sign him outright. I'd still try to acquire him via trade, using Tim Hardaway Jr. to up the ante but I doubt that'd work either. We need the guy. Do you think he'd stay healthy?

And I'm not sure Bledsoe would be a perfect fit for the triangle. Seems more like a pick ad roll type. that's assuming we do install the triangle next year.

They actually might consider a THjr trade. He is still on his rookie deal, they need a consistent SG, and this deal would give them the cap freedom to resign some of their other young guys that will be coming up for new deals the following summer. THjr has a pretty high trade value at the moment. We would still probably have to throw in a first round pick, but getting Bledsoe would solve our biggest need, which is a better starting pg. With Bledsoe and Shumpert at the 1 and 2 our defense should improve tremendously.

He doesn't have much of a track record for perimeter shots but has all the traits for an excellent PG in the triangle. He has a demonstrated to be an excellent off-ball guard, he's a great defender and he's a willing (albeit limited passer). And considering that he was shooting 33% from deep this season and 42% the season before, I wouldn't be too concerned about his jump shot. He's essentially Ron Harper and Derek Fisher on steroids (figuratively...maybe even literally).

Maybe. I just hope that his injuries aren't chronic. Guys that are as athletic as Bledsoe don't stay healthy for very long before breaking down because of the stress that they put on their bodies (see Russell Westbrook, Derrick Rose and John Wall). All things considered, I'd make the deal but would do so with a very heavy heart. I really like THJr and I think he's the first draft pick we've made in a while that has all star potential.

You would give up Chandler, Shump and THJ??? Thats like trading 3 # 1 draft picks for Bledsoe. Way too much to give up especially with Phil in charge. Who are you , Dolan ?

SupremeCommander @ 3/18/2014 1:18 PM
I agree - Bledsoe would be the perfect lead guard in the Triangle. But I don't see him as the perfect off, which I'd say is more valuable in Phil's system

That was my mistake. I meant to suggest that we substitute Shumpert for THJr. Let's be honest, Eric Bledsoe was looking like an all-star this season, so we'd have to come proper.
