He's as old as father time, has played in the triangle for years with Phil and has said that he'd be interested in coaching in the past. Should he be a candidate for our head coaching position? I think he has a good head on his shoulders and he'd have plenty of charisma ala Jason Kidd and Mark Jackson.
Thought about him. Not sure he has enough fire though. He did as a player but a coach needs to be able to be a prick and I don't see that in him.

To be fair, none of Phil's guys fit that description. At the very least, he is clearly a player's player so you would think that he'd connect with guys. When I see him in huddles, I constantly see him talking to players and being an impromptu coach. Also, he's been a team captain and President of the players union so you know that he has leadership qualities.
The least of the bunch makes a lot of sense. Rambis has the contrast of success as a role hustle player (a trait of many successful coaches), success as an assistant, and failure of a head coach. There are many coaches who did not succeed and later became very good coaches. Being the coach under Khan and having to bank on Jonny flynn to be the leader of triangle as a rookie is not a good idea. Maybe rambis thougth it was a good opportunity and would have some time.
He learned. Maybe a better fit than some others.
Joe Torre had some failure before he figured it out. SOmetimes its the Ownership and management that makes all the difference.
