What industry/product would you look to invest in?
ToddTT @ 3/17/2014 9:45 PM

Pharmaceuticals. I worked directly for a guy who was a case in point.

Only example I know of personally.

I would keep an eye on carbon nanotubes. Lots of applications. Do a google news search, will give you an idea of the potential for this technology.

That industry seems to be locked up pretty tight (from the outside looking in). Seems like 6 or so companies have a monopoly on the entire thing. Did he synthesize some drug or is one of the head honchos at one of the companies?

Was a mid-level department head at one of the biggies. Took some of the niche-market drugs that the biggie didn't want to waste their time on, and founded his own firm. Grew it to a mid-size multi-national and in less than 15 years sold it for over 1 Billion. With a B.

He donated $25 mill to his alma mater a few years ago. Is retired and living like a king in Fla. His wife still sends us Christmas Cards. The funny thing is, she's Jewish.

I would look into MSG and MSG Network, and try to find a way to do a hostile takeover and get Jimmy Dol broke so he will sell the Knicks and THEN I would buy the team and invest in winning....

It makes me laugh. That is a nice thing.

I lived on something as near to an NBA rookie salary as I'm likely ever going to see for 2 years off the severance package when he sold everything and closed up shop. Bought a used pick up truck with cash from some stock he gave me. No complaints here.
