Knicks · SAS-Melo is gone in the offseason (page 2)
Nash-Melo-Kobe-Gasol? Injuries happen and things would have to be perfect for them to be that.
Melo-Noah-Rose? Is rose healthy? Melo play defense like Thibs wants?
Melo to Rockets? Has to be a trade, it depletes their bench but a very strong starting unit! This is the best case for Melo. But does he want to live in Houstan.
Melo to CLippers. They have to do a trade. They have Griffith. would not surprise me this is a deal already in place but Clippers don't want a mid season change. Would not surprise me at all.
Does winning really matter to some of these guys? My other take is Melo does this for brand exposure. YOu can't buy this kind of name recognition and every city he goes to he is asked this. we are talking about it, its on radio, espn nationally, etc. Melo enhances is exposure and brand. My take is there is a trade in place or he resigns here and if so it makes him LOOK GOOD!
But I could be wrong. IN time Dwight will repair his reputation as did Lebron. Kobe is a tour de-force marketer and he was plastered in the news as a rapist and a public divorce. Now he is golden.
I have covered it. Odds are we get a favorable result but if he leaves us with nothing lets also be real, nobody outside of knick fans loves the knicks so big money NY teams gets screwed over by Melo also enhances his brand.
Round and round and maybe I covered all the bases here? What am I missing?
Maybe as UK devotes you should be asking yourself what can you do to help?
If you think you can, your on another planet!

IMO Woodson doesn't have the skills to handle this roster and put players in the best position to succeed. He let a clown like JR get away with all kinds of crap. Woody is in over his head. He needs Phil's help BAD or just get him outta here! We can't even fully evaluate the talent cuz he's been so bad.
the media still thinks having better talent is better then having great chemistry

If this trade were on the table, I'd have to believe it's off now. Blake has been a beast the second half of the season. Plus he's younger and cheaper. The only team with assets that could make a deal worthwhile is Houston at this point. That's assuming they throw in Parsons and a first-rounder. Outside of Butler and Thomas, I don't know what else the Bulls have to make a fair trade. That's not too say a deal doesn't take place with any of those teams We have been hosed in deals before.

If Melo leaves us high and dry without allowing us to do a sign and trade I will hate his guts. If he is so sure he's leaving he should have talked to management before the trade deadline to help us get some value back. He should be opting in and waiting it out to see how next year plays out, but he's going to make the same mistake again it seems. If Melo was a winner I don't see why he wouldn't relish the opportunity to play for PJAX, a guy proven to elevate "selfish" stars into transcendent players. I don't care if he leaves, but I absolutely do care whether we get assets back for him or not after his trade crippled us 4 season ago.
first of all carmelo won't be playing for phil Jackson, he is not coaching..
Next: so this is the breaking point for you? just wanna make sure.. I want to find out when it is acceptable to dislike carmelo..
He should be opting in and waiting it out to see how next year plays out, but he's going to make the same mistake again it seems. If Melo was a winner
If melo was a winner? well look at his career.. He is not a winner, so opting out is par for the course for him, especially if he feels it serves his interest first and foremost.. so far him leaving is great news..

don't even worry about that, we have little control over that, especially if he opts out.. just hope he leaves with little drama, and let phil do his job trying to put together a team we can be proud of for many years to come..
gunsnewing wrote:It's been said already but I'm not sure Melo fits Phil's system like Jordan and Kobe did. He isn't an elite defender like those guys were. Those guys gave 100% every play on both ends and they played well off the ball something Melo did not want to do for Dantoni. I think these are the areas Phil is referring to that needs improvement. Melo can score but does he have it in him to bring those other intangibles. Personally I don't think he does. It's not part of his make up and that's fine. We will see what Phil thinks going forward
phil also mentioned that carmelo played well when he was playing a role coming off the bench for the olympic team.... I think phil is looking for drastic changes... we will see..

I heard what SAS..SAS said after speaking to people close to Melo, there is a good chance he could leave..It's not a forgone conclusion that he stays...Melo is frustrated by the play of the team this season and he could very well leave...It's not as definitive that he leaves as the title implies..

No lol this not the breaking point for me because he hasn't left us with nothing yet, I will sour on him if this does indeed take place though. But to be honest I'd rather have Phil than Carmelo so I'm pretty satisfied at the moment. And yeah Phil isn't the coach but make no mistake, it's his team from this point forward unless Dolan is an even bigger fool that we all believe.
knicks1248 wrote:first of all, he said this yesterday, secondly, he also said that he heard it from a reliable source (one that he trust within the organzation and out ) he also said he hopes the person is wrong because he heard this before phil was totally on board.Melo's options are rebuild mode without a sign and trade in order, and the market for melo will not be that of shaq, howard, kobe lbj, because you cant just put him on any team with young players and think he's going to help you team win a championship. Melos problem isn't find a place to win a championship, it's lerning how to play to win a championship
When you put it into perspective, he has just as good a chance here to win a championship then he has going any where. If his ideal goal is to win a championship in the next yr or 2..most teams are going to have to do a sign and trade, and the ones that don't are ot contenders.. even if a takes 14 mill to play with a contender (on paper)whats to say it will work, it's like a dog chasing his tail
NY is more than two years away from contending... the east is getting younger and stronger....

in the end, phil is not coaching or calling plays.... so he will still need a coach and a real franchise player who are on the floor.... I believe Phil is smart guy, but he is no miracle worker, he has his work cut out for him here.. this mess in NY is absolutely toxic.. which is why I am begging for a comple flush... what would have pleased me is if phil got up on the podium today with a detonator in his hand, and C4 strapped to a basket of apples and say.. "this is what I am going to do with this team"....
That would have been a perfect introduction to me... This season, the behavior of most players, lack of leadership, bloated payroll, lack of chemistry... Demands that this is the outcome!!! BOOOM!!
Short of a miracle S & T, this is probably the best thing that could happen to us. I don't think we'll be any worse than .380 anyway next year. Or if we are, at least we have our pick.

Kobe probably told Melo how much he hated playing for Pjax. He hated Kobe so I am sure that he won't be to fond of Melo.
I do think that it is possible to change Melo but Kobe would not change.
We'll see.

No they don't have to get back anything and have a huge tpe. They can S&T any player they're just restriction on receiving a player in a S&T because they are over the cap/tax.

I guess they can ST him to a team with Cap Space. If not then they would have to send him to a team like houston that can send us expiring big contracts.
All the role players he had at Syracuse are there in Washington.

In any case, I think it's best for both parties to part ways. We need to leverage some of Phil Jackson's connections in the Bulls organization to maximize what we can get from them in a package deal. If they can agree to a deal for Melo and Shumpert for Carlos Boozer, Jimmy Butler, Jimmer Fredette (sign and trade), the rights to Nikola Mirotic and their two first round picks in this draft, then Melo could pack his bags. The Bulls get the 2nd/3rd best scorer in the game while we take back some modest talent/assets to help build a supporting cast for our future franchise player.

Doubtful. Going to DC doesn't help his brand and are no where close to contention. I think that Chicago (with the Thibs/CAA ties) are favorites, with Houston a close second and the Lakers a distant third.
