Knicks · How sure are you that the Knicks will make the playoffs ? (page 1)

playa2 @ 4/1/2014 7:56 AM
If you don't have an opinion , just don't say anything
gunsnewing @ 4/1/2014 8:11 AM
It will come down to the final game. Win and in and Toronto will blow us out by 30

Then In the post game exit interview Marc Berman has to remind Felton that the season is over after Lowry torches him for 32pts and saying we will get the next one

Your 2013-14 New York Knickerbockers

fishmike @ 4/1/2014 8:22 AM
this team is retarded... impossible to even have a feeling on them. Glad they are playing better. I would to see them play the Pacers in the first round. The Heat will sweep us.

My opinion, and I have one is the topic is poorly written.

Should be:

Knicks in
Knicks out

The rest dilutes the true question.

Multiple choice in a random order keep the Illuminati and Internet Trollidiots at bay. Good work, playa!

Carmelo continues to progress towards some semblance of "efficiency". Haters beware.
JR gets the lion share of minutes, unties nothing. Key threes. Channeling his inner Starksian killer. Talking about and going to the hole. I like this.
7 assists between the UK consensus All Time Dumbest players the Knicks have ever had.
Chandler continues his mid-season form of preening.
Doofy white guy showing up with three blocks!

Can KMart come back with fresh legs and a really nasty attitude?

Woody's coaching moment of the year; leaving Stat in the bullpen against the Jazz.

These are all good signs.

Jrod...your posting has gotten really good over time. You've developed a style all your own. This one shows you're intruiged by the positive notes, but reserving judgment on playoffs. I think many of us here on UK are in the same boat: Uncertain if getting in will be a good thing or not, but wanting to see it happen anyway.

Umm, thanks, but I reserved no judgement; I voted for the only positive choice: getting in by beating good teams. Which is really how we're going to get in no matter what Atlanta does.

Getting in the playoffs is always a good thing. THJr aside, we suhuck royally at drafting, not that that matters.

knicks1248 @ 4/1/2014 11:22 AM
Like I said in the other playoff thread, i think we'll make it because the hawks are tanking, and this proves it.

nteresting choice of words from Hawks GM Danny Ferry.

Speaking with USA Today, Ferry said that Atlanta is "not focused" on making the playoffs.

Here is the full quote:

"Throughout the year, I felt we've been on a good path," Ferry said. "When healthy, we've been a very good team. I like the way we play. It's system-based. I like our players. There's some substance to them. With the way we're set-up from a salary cap standpoint and a roster standpoint that good things can continue to unfold.

"We're not focused on trying to be the eighth seed in the playoffs because that's not our goal. We're trying to build something that's good, sustainable and the components are in place for us to do so."

That quote can be taken one of two ways:

SportsNation
Will the Knicks, who sit one game behind Atlanta, make the playoffs?

Absolutely!
Not a chance!
Submit
1. The Hawks are focused on the future and will lose games to improve their chances of getting a high pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. If Atlanta makes the playoffs, they will select 15th in the first round. If they miss the playoffs, they will likely select around 10th, according to USA Today's Jeff Zillgitt. There is a small chance that they get a top-three pick.

2. The Hawks will try to win as many games as possible but making the playoffs won't impact how Ferry judges the season. And the team is ultimately focused on turning itself into a perennial contender, not a team that settles for the eighth seed.

Sorry, Knicks fans.

The guess here is that Ferry meant that a playoff berth won't affect how he judges the Hawks' season.

^Smart

Wish we had our pick to do the same

jrodmc @ 4/1/2014 12:06 PM
Yeah, I sure wish I could be spending my time rooting for Danny Ferry.

I've been thinking about that a lot. And if things go according to plan, we'll make the playoffs because the Hawks (save for Millsap) are desperately trying to miss it. Even so, I think the Knicks are so inept that they won't be able to get their shit together to help take the Hawks out of their misery.

markvmc @ 4/1/2014 10:38 PM
The Knicks have already self-destructed, and that is why they will not make the play-offs.
EnySpree @ 4/2/2014 7:29 AM
Knicks have 7 games left against playoff teams... Atlanta has 9 left against 5 playoff teams....odds are arranged against us.

I do not want to give up a lottery pick or possibly win the lottery for another team!!!

True, but some teams will not be playing for position and resting/healing players.

IronWillGiroud @ 4/2/2014 8:11 AM
I think they'll make it because they're so good

And bow the hot streak

That works for Atlanta. Every team in the nba wants to see the Knicks lose so they will be trying to run us off the court this week

At the expense of a bigger objective?

won't some teams put a premium of having their guys rested, healed and ready for a playoff run over beating the knicks?
When healthy the core of Melo/Tyson/JR have shown well when backs are up. Team is on a 7-3 last 10 games after losing streak.

What teams? Which team is not trying to get in a better position. Indy/Miami, Was/Cha, and Tor/Bk/Chi are all in a race. Miami might want a number one seed. Washington probably doesn't want to drop down to 7 and Toronto, Brooklyn, and Chicago are fighting for home court advantage. Brooklyn has a chance to still the east division and Chicago needs to keep a better record than the 5 seed to keep home court advantage.
jrodmc @ 4/2/2014 10:55 AM
We will beat them all, no matter who they don't rest. The only thing we truly have to fear is the refs.

And Woody's coaching.

And JR's mental state.

And the possible untimely return of Bargs.

And THJr's possible freshman injury bug biting.

And a reprise of FluChickenPersonalTissue Mrs. Hibbert.

And Ray on reload.

And Melo averaging a triple double from here on out while shooting 60% from the field and destroying the entire delicate balance of the Homer/Hater UK board.

with Miami, your talking about one game in a conf. finals. If thats the upside to resting players MAYBE they do that?
Thats a possibility.

As we get closer the the end, some teams might have locked up their spot. If Noah's foot needs rest? If Lebrons ankle is a problem?
