Knicks · Anyone else a bit skeptical of PJax not coming to games? (page 3)

he should be as hands off as possible. this is not his team until the knicks season is over. any involvement now would be paramount to interloping and would only cause or perpetuate confusion, lack of focus. let the knicks do what they do. make the playoffs, miss the playoffs-- neither matters to jackson's agenda which is to rebuild the team regardless.

you guys have a nice chat? Or is that a 'dk fact'

it's a dk fact that this team is going to undergo more than a mere tweak or even a retool. next season is a throwaway or did you not infer that from his press conference where he said summer of 2015 is going to be huge?

"i believe in system basketball"
"we have to build this team... ferret out players who want to play the type of ball we want to play"
"we have a team that will hopefully make swift and important changes"
"i am looking forward to 2015 but we will try to make a truly competitive team in the meantime"
"we have a vision we have a plan"
"i want to bring back fundamental basketball skills"
"the key to turning things around here is players, teaching them little things and intangibles. stay between your man and the ball, stay in front of your man, hit the open man"
"sets don't work in the nba"
"i'd like to see carmelo be less predictable that will increase his efficiency"

yup... all those quotes tell me the same thing. They are going to resign Melo, Phil is going to mentor him, and they will build up the team with players that excel in that type of system. Of course summer of 2015 is going to be huge. The entire Knicks roster minus like 3 guys expires.

Hate to disappoint you

dk7th @ 4/2/2014 5:05 PM
disappoint me? how? i trust phil jackson. my desire is that he plays hardball with carmelo that's all. if phil believes that carmelo can be rehabilitated or is salvageable i will be okay with that. i don't like melo's game much at all-- he has a ton of things he has to improve on. it's just the final bill i care about.

So if Phil brings him back at the max do you still trust him?

Also, are you still going with Jackson won't try and make moves around the draft this year?

It can happen and that's a scary thought

And I think it will make Melo the highest paid player in the league

no that will anger me because it goes against my values. my values have not been represented since dolan took over and i expect a different set of values to prevail now.

You asked what I thought would happen next year. I said I didn't know but I thought Phil would probably start looking to make moves around the draft when a lot of teams move guys. You called it goobeldy gook. No Sh@t. That was what you called it.
On a side note I like that term, 'dk fact'. I think it fits well with a lot of what you post.

well ... it would anger me too and if that happens then I will trust him much less.

He is not getting him at 12-13 - thats a pipe dream.

Probably closer to 20.

Keep in mind that he nets less than lbj right now because of the taxes in nys and nyc.

that does not help us and our cap. All I care about is cap flex. Taxes are irrelevant.

How much in taxes? A few hundred grand. JR accumulated more $$$$ in fines this year

It is pretty significant. Melo grosses 2 mil more than lbj

Nope. I just think if you ask someone what they think Phil is going to do next year and the response is he probably will try to make moves around the draft it is a bit off to call it goobeldy gook unless you are an insider.

it's gobbledygook unless you want to back it up with your usual crushalot cockamamie conjecture. either your conjecture is empty nonsense or you want to have a crack at getting inside phil jackson's head. so again... have at it! what moves is he going to be making come draft time?

If you ask someone what they think is going to happen you are asking for a prediction no? That can't be backed up. However, you can infer based on all of the player movement that occurs around the draft that it might be the time Phil makes a move. However, apparently based on your response you don't think there is a chance that this happens and that the mere suggestion of it is goobeldy gook. Also, don't ask for predictions if you don't want answers.
