His defense IS getting better and that does not worry me. He is a great athlete, miles better than Houston.
The only thing that scares me is the streaky shooting. 2-10 one game and 9-12 the next. Don't know if that is fixable but I sure hope it is.

As far as the college #'s, I noticed that Glenn Robinson Sr. had the same complaints about the Michigan offense that Tim Hardaway Sr. had last year. If they aren't running transition, the offense stagnates and the wing guys kinda get stuck on the wings. Just substitute Trey burke with Nick Stauskas and you kinda see the same thing. One guy dribbling around in the half court while the other guys stand around at the three point line. No fluidity or player movement at all.

could be any number of things.
obviously he needs to develop poise. not being afraid to take a shot does not equate to poise.
you can't help but be impressed with the length of his stride in the open floor-- it's positively durantula-esque.... however he may need to put on more muscle weight in his lower body. it may slow him down a hair in the open floor but right now he may be suffering from having too much spring in his legs on his jumpshot, the analogy for which is a pitcher with too much life in his arm getting a pitch up in the zone.

I would be far more impressed with him if he was not an all or nothing shooter. I am not a good scout like Briggs so I am not sure what the issue is. Better ball movement and more wide open shots with his legs under him would be a good start.

Well I think Noah is a superior teammate, but not a better player. Basically I think if Noah and Melo were both put into a successful, winning environment Melo is a better choice. But on a team of low IQ players and little talent then I believe Noah will be more productive.

Well ... I kind of agree but I just think that its the wrong choice of words. "Smarts" is not the issue, its choice and self assessment. Very smart people make the wrong choices because they have an rationalized view of themselves. Its a choice between Control and Trust and the balancing the two. He thinks that he knows himself better and if he stays, phil will have to convince him that he does not.

Look when i said "smarts" i wasnt trying to convey Melo as a dumb person or even a dumb player. For example i considered Jason Kidd to have great basketball smarts because he was a student of teh agme and he knew many players weaknesses/strengths and how to make them better when he was in his prime. Its very rare for a player to have both great ability and great basketball IQ. Just so you know i like melo and i defend him quite a bit BUT i accept him for what he is. I dont think he is a overall elite player. He is a top 3 scorer no doubt but there are flaws in the other parts of the game. Thats not a knock on him its just the way it is. Players like Lebron Kobe(prime) and Durant are rare which is why they are elite. I like melo but to be objective he simply isnt there in that group

realize his game has issues, but the eye test tells us that this guy is someone you v much want on your roster. cant' help but feel (wish?) that with a real offensive system (Read: Woodson gone), TJH will have a role which plays up his strengths. ironically, the steve kerr role in Chicago?
