the good news is that Phil Jackson runs teh show not dolan. Phil jackson has been very frank/objective when it comes to melo so we will see

What melo hasnt shown is that he has a concept of how to lead a team to wins in his contract year....only how to put up meaningless numbers.
The goal at anything is a positive result....all the Knicks do regardless of how Melo plays is lose.
There's a reason why teams would not even want to "rent" him the last time.
He's an impractical player at the rate he wants.
I skipped the post game. I thought during the game they were saying it was his right shoulder. However, he was rubbing his left shoulder, the one he hurt last year.
If you were Melo and you made up your mind that you wanted to leave how would you go about it ?
I think Melo says "I'll leave while the team loses with me leading the way , so I could go elsewhere and nobody could justifying being upset if I left or not". If he left and the knicks were winning they would hate him for it, but if he played and underachieved they would understand him leaving for free agency.
Jeff Vandummy did the exact thing (but expecting the same response) when he left the Knicks. He waited for the team to go on a winning streak , then decided to resign. Not when the team was losing consistently and fans would have crucified him for quitting while on losing streak.

And to be honest, the whole legacy thing seems to just come down to how much you win. Dirk, Pierce, and Lebron all recovered from negative press after winning titles.

He'd recover just by winning period. That's the point I was making with those 3 guys. Dirk and Pierce were getting killed for not being good enough and then they won and all that went away. After joining the Heat (and taking less money), Lebron was hated and plenty of people said he killed his legacy by teaming up with 2 stars but his legacy seems to be just fine right now. No matter what Melo does, as long as he wins a title, his legacy is gonna be fine. The only exception I can think of is if he joins the Heat.
